I FINALLY finished

It was pretty good. I read most of it (except for the last 10 pages) on my bus ride back to University. I found it to be so enjoyable that when the bus pulled in 4.5 hours later, it had only felt like maybe an hour had passed.

And I just put the audio of
on hold at my elibrary. I'm sure you listened to it, Heidi. How was it on audio? :-)
Starting to get into

Woot, Karen I am impressed! Stretching your boundaries, lol! When you get done with Will Grayson, so you want to read Obsidian next?

Love Divergent so much!!Finished reading
which was a very good novella. The Darkest Minds fans will want to read it! Also finished
and it was definitely the best out of the series so far. I actually kind of liked the story without Logan around every second!Started rereading
today. This is one of my fave Rick Riordan's books, and I'm really enjoying the reread!
Woot, Heidi!! I just got Fangirl from the library, planning on reading it for my readathon next week!

I just started
I am in love with the setting and the all around creepiness is perfect for this time of year! it's a huge book and I am a tad intimadated by that. But I think once things get going it will be hard to put down! Has anyone read this one?

I have read it, and I LOVED it!! Its reads really fast, is super creepy, with lots of comedy and suspense. I really great read! I'm excited for the sequel!
David wrote: "Ooh!!! I'm a bit behind on that series, need to catch up!"Me too! I bought my copy but it's been sitting on my shelf for a week now since I've been so busy.
I did finish reading
. I enjoyed it much better than the 4th one. Now I'm reading
. It's a bit spookier but my book club thought it'd be fitting for the month of October.
Finishing up
today - and as I look back on earlier in October, I think I've done my part in terms of creepy Halloween books! Yeck! I hate that stuff! I also read
which was tragic and have now started
on audio. So far it's ok. I think it's going to just get better and better.
Helen wrote: "I just started Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Love the premise so far!"Agreed, very clever idea! I'll be curious as to what you think of the ending to the series as there's a lot of controversy. I loved it, but I think most really didn't lol! Enjoy the series!!

That is what I have heard. I only own the first book (I bought it years ago and just never got around to reading it) so decided now would be a good time. Something tells me that as soon as I finish I will be running to the closest book store to buy the rest of the trilogy.

I think I liked Delirium the most out of all three books in the series. Hope you enjoy it!

I am pretty picky and really ended up liking Delirium. I have decided to skip the rest of the series for now because too many people ended up disappointed.

This is going to sound really extreme, even though I don't mean for it to. But I've stopped reading Lauren Oliver. She writes beautifully and Delirium is one of my favourite books. I can't say enough good about it, I just adored it!
But honestly, I just felt so betrayed with the rest of the series - Pandemonium, and especially Requiem - that I decided I couldn't do it again. I won't read any more Lauren Oliver. For a writer to stir up that much emotion in me and then just leave me hanging, well, no. Just no. Her writing was more than enough to make me want the next book each time, leaving absolutely no need for a cliffhanger ending. And there were two killer cliffhangers. The third book didn't end, it just sort of stopped. And she created this ridiculous, unneccessary, totally frustrating love triangle - so I don't care how beautiful the writing is (and believe me, it is BEAUTIFUL), I'm just not going to be manipulated like that again. It was so unfair and I felt so cheated. Make up my own ending, leave it to my imagination? Seriously? If I wanted to do that, I would just make up my own stories and not bother to read hers.
I just finished
- which ends a lot like
. I've learned now to read a lot of reviews and find out what I'm in for with the sequel. So before I go out and buy Just One Year, I'm going to pick it up in a bookstore and read the last few pages. I'm not one of those people who cares if they know the ending - I just love the story and if I know where it's going, I can enjoy the details along the way much more. And if Gayle Forman pulls a Lauren Oliver with the ending of Just One Year, then I'm not going to bother reading it, even if it is really good. And in that particular case, I don't believe there are plans for a third book to tie things up. Nope, not getting taken again. So that's just me and the way I feel about the Delirium series. David and others have a completely different view, which I respect especially because he's an author. I haven't read any reviews for Panic (Oliver's new book) but it won't matter, I won't read it. There is just too much other stuff out there that is fabulous for me to risk getting taken again.

Jen I get where you are coming from and agree 100% - this is why I skipped the sequels in the series - to save me the agony. I just made up my own ending in my head! I have full faith that Just One Year will NOT cause you the same grief. It is a romance and Gayle is a wonderful writer who I just know will pull it all together in book two :) I plan to read it soon myself.

I, on the other hand, have been trying to read all of Lauren Oliver's books! LOL I've read them all now (even the children's books which were really good) except for
Might want to tone down the spoilers, some people haven't finished the Delirium series and they should get to experience it themselves, as they might feel differently...Sorry, can't agree on this one, I am one of the few (and proud) who think the series ended perfectly and admire the risk Oliver took. Although I am most definitely the minority and it hasn't really paid off for her! But I do agree about (view spoiler)
Reading The Shining by Stephen King which is creepy and amazing. It's definitely different from the film. I'm also reading Fifty Shades Freed by E L James. Hate leaving a series unfinished. I have to say that there is way too much drama in that book and I'm glad it's almost over.
I've never read The Shining. I'm afraid after seeing the movie, that I wouldn't really enjoy it. Speaking of the movie, I've visited the hotel where the movie was shot in Colorado! Its a beautiful hotel!
Yes it did look very beautiful from what I remember. I saw the film about five years ago so I can still remember the main event but am a little hazy on the rest. It's interesting to get inside Jacks head and to better understand what Danny "sees" and how it works. For example he can read peoples thoughts or moods. It made me chuckle when he heard this old lady's thoughts about getting into this guys pants and he was wondering why she wanted his pants and why she wasn't wearing a pair if she wanted some so much.

Apologies about the spoilers - I didn't realise I was giving anything away (based on the reviews here on GR). I do agree that reading one's opinion can always color another's view of a book they haven't read. That said, I've read a ton of books that other people haven't liked and yet I did, and vice versa. . Gotta be brave! (lol!) So - I do apologise if my Oliver Rant has infuenced anyone negatively. I should have added that I did read
and I really liked it. I read it right after Delirium (before continuing with Pandemonium and Requiem), and although many people haven't liked it, I did. I thought I would keep loving her work - but knowing that Before I Fall was her first novel made a huge difference. She evolved as an author, of course. And I have to respect that, even though I don't like the direction she's gone. That series was also a good lesson for me with regard to hype - I hope people don't fall into that trap with
. It's so easy to get carried along with all these unrealistic expectations and then be disappointed/devastated simply because the book didn't exceed them. I suppose that's a double-edged sword for authors. Tough job, honestly - get the next book out yesterday! Make it better than the last! Blow everyone's mind! Hurry up! It makes me admire you all the more, David. Gotta have tough skin as well as great talent.
Aww thanks Jen! To be honest, it's a million times harder than I thought it would be, and yet a million times more rewarding, so you're exactly right! And no worries about the "spoilers". They weren't really true spoiler spoilers, but it's probably better if people don't know (view spoiler)
Oh and having a hugely anticipated sequel or third book must put immense pressure on an author. I can't even imagine, I mean I feel what I think is immense pressure with my sequels--I don't want to let down my readers--and yet it's NOTHING compared to what Roth must have been feeling with this book. I hope it's a huge success!
But please don't stop ranting about the books you didn't like and talking up the ones you did, that's part of the fun of Goodreads! I was just worried about things bordering on spoilerish (although definitely more in the gray area) since I know some people in this group are still reading it :)
Writers are my heroes! No, seriously! Even if I'm disappointed, I have major respect for their artistry and bravery. You said it very well, Jen!

I love writers too!
Ditto on the writers! Love them! ;-)And I was one of those who loved the ending. But agree about (view spoiler). That book made for one of the BEST buddy read discussions, ever! I love books that bring out opinions, emotion, rants, love for the book, etc., all in one thread.
And yep, can not wait to read Allegiant with you guys! Buddy read, right?

Woot, yes of course to the buddy read! Although I don't think I'll be getting my copy until Thursday. I think we were some of the few that liked the ending to requiem!
So I finished both
and
and thought they were both fantastic. I just love Andrew Smith. Such a good author. And Fire and Ash ended perfectly :D Well minus (view spoiler)Now I am reading
and it's good so far, I am excited to continue reading it!And on the subject of the Delirium books, I loved the first two a lot :D The end of the second upset me a lot, and I haven't read the third but am planning on it.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
