Book 2 is the best IMO.

Reading Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta and still listening to Dairy Queen (Dairy Queen, #1) by Catherine Gilbert Murdock .

message 560: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloebooklover) | 33 comments I am currently reading The Year Of Secret Assignments. Though I am not reading it with that cover. For some reason our Canadian library only has the Australian cover, so I am reading Finding Cassie Crazy. I did my research, though, and they are the same books. I've been bad, though. The only reason I am reading this is because my other two books were boring (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Opposite of Chocolate)

Heidi, are you liking Looking for Alibrandi? I was considering checking it out from the library.

I LOVE Year of Secret Assignments! Emily is such a kook. I am actually listening to Jaclyn's newest book Ghosts of Ashbury High right now on audio and like it so far.
I liked Looking for Alibrandi. It is not my favorite by the author, (Jellicoe Road wins hands down), but it was still a really good book.

Heyyyy everyone! I haven't checked this group in ages. I have no idea why. College apps, I guess.

Anyway, right now I am reading ...

The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner

It's … ehhhh … so far. I didn't have very high expectations, though. :/

I also started

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

but I've only read like ten pages so far. :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments Brigid... that's how i felt about The Scorch Trials too. I have a feeling book #3 will either be mind-blowingly awesome or just another let-down. I'm hopeful though.

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Yeahhh, right now the plot's not making much logical sense to me. Plus I don't really like the main character. Ah, well. I'll see if Scorch Trials gets any better … but even if it doesn't I'll probably read the third just to find out what happens. This happens to me with a lot of series. haha. :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments I know the feeling. I'm right there with you regarding this series. Good thing there's only one more left. Still, I can't say that I'm overly excited to read it, but I'm sure I will.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments BLUEMOON

Ummm, actually the first one isn't that great either. IMO. It's extremely confusing. I'll keep reading, but I think there are other books out there for you to read and enjoy (like Mockingjay). I gave both Maze Runner books a 3 star rating. My reviews are spoiler free if you're interested. I think the author does a good enough job of keeping things going, but it's just... IDK weird and confusing with little to no resolution. Some people really liked it. I did not, and this from a girl who loves dystopia. I want some sort of resolution from this series!!! I just want to know what on earth is happening (as do the characters). I'm hoping to find out in the third book so that it will all make sense.

I would recommend a dystopian trilogy where all three books are already out ( Like IDK... The Hunger Games). I especially think it's a good idea for you to finish a series (*cough* Hunger Games) that you've already started. I mean if you're already two books in it just makes sense to finish the series (Mockingjay) right???

lol... Can you guess which book I strongly encourage you to read?? :) Hehe.

message 568: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I've been drowning in college apps too but with there being only one supplement left to write, I'm hoping to get back into reading a loooot :)

I Capture the Castle (Red Fox Older Fiction) by Dodie Smith
I've been reading this on and off but I really love the writing and the narrator and the setting :) Can't wait to get further into the story!

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Uh. I really loathe Nora right now cause I think she's too stupid to live arghhh

The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson
I have a feeling this is going to be very good but I'm about 150 pages in so far and it's still going at a rather slow pace.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments BLUEMOON: that post was specifically designed to make you laugh. I'm glad it worked.

I agree … The Maze Runner books are really confusing, and pretty much nothing is ever resolved/explained. Also, the writing really gets on my nerves. There are sooo many fragments, and so much telling instead of showing. It's like, "He was scared. Really scared." … Like, seriously?

message 571: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I've only ever read THE MAZE RUNNER so far but I do have THE SCORCH TRIALS on my shelves. But I don't know if I'm going to read it or not based on the mostly negative reviews I've been seeing around!

message 577: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Has anyone read good Road Trip books? I'm looking for a few since I'm enjoying Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson so much.

message 578: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Bluemoon: Personally I really liked The Iron King but then the sequel really annoyed me. Too much Twilight-esque angst lurking about!

message 579: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Bluemoon- Bloody Jack is amazing on audio. I am about to start the 3rd book in the series and I can't wait! Though I'm starting to think the narrator is what makes the books so good. I've heard from a few that are just reading it that they couldn't get into it or they didn't like it all that much.

I just started The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan . Only about 15 pages in but I really like it so far!

Have you read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins or North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley - neither one was a road trip book, but they reminded me of Amy & Roger a lot.

message 600: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked them too. Very quick, fun reads.

I'm still reading The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness . Loving it!
