Wow, I went away for a weekend and this thread had a ton of new comments on it. Well, I didn't get any reading done this weekend but I'm super excited to hear that Jenny loved
. I'm just waiting for my library to get it in.And I'll be stopping at the library later to pick up
for the buddy read.
I am in the middle of Jurassic Park I took a break to read The 5th Wave I love the movie so much I figured I had to read the book, It's got a lot more info and certain situations make a whole lot more sense then they do in the film version.
Jenny and Becky I was going to try Septimus Heap but worried it was too middle grade. Seems like you both like it so I would assume you recommend it?? Have either of you listened to it on audiobook??

I always forget that Jurassic Park was a book! Sounds like an interesting one. I just finished 5th Wave and give it 3ish stars - not bad not great. How are you liking it??

Yay for new buddy read - even though you will be done way before me Becky! It gets me motivated to start a new book :)

Heidi (1%er) wrote: "Jenny and Becky I was going to try Septimus Heap but worried it was too middle grade. Seems like you both like it so I would assume you recommend it?? Have either of you listened to it on audiobook??"I haven't Heidi. It is definitely a MG series, but I really enjoyed it. Its very well written, and make me think a lot of Harry Potter. Not as good, of course, but the author ties things together really well like JK Rowling. Great characters, and a great little magical world. The kids are also all smarter than the adults which is hilarious! Some great funny moments throughout.
Thanks Jenny! I think I will try it on audio - the sample sounds good and I know my library has the audiobook :)
Heidi (1%er) wrote: "Thanks Jenny! I think I will try it on audio - the sample sounds good and I know my library has the audiobook :)"I did not listen to it on audio. The first book is a bit slow and predictable but I really bought into the series after the second book. It's somewhat like Harry Potter in that the books get a little darker and more complex the further into the series you go. Not quite as dark as HP and as Jenny said, not as good, but still a fun series in my opinion.
I listened to the sample of Magyk on audio and liked the narrator so I am going to try it. I will keep your comments in mind ladies :) Thanks!
I've been reading The Walking Dead for a long time now (the past month or so) and am just working on finishing up volume 16. I'm about ready to take a break. Problem is...I still haven't been gripped by the calling for reading a novel. I WANT to, but I'm still kinda burned out and don't know what I would like. I'm tired of series. I'm tired of the same ol' or variations thereof. Need something different and GOOD!Sigh.
Lloyd! I already went through your tbr pile awhile back and gave you recs but alas you did not go for any of my picks. I am telling you to run any prospective future reads by me first! I will not steer you wrong. I swear I won't! I want to renew your faith in YA lit! It is my calling! hahahaha

My problem isn't YA fiction. Just books in general. Maybe if I stay away for awhile, I'll eventually get back into it. Meanwhile, I decided on my literary comfort food...Stephen King. Started one of his I haven't read yet. We'll see if I can stick with it.

I am listening to Inkheart on audiobook for our buddy read - other than that I am reading/listening to non Ya books. I should be done with my hubby's beloved Suttree on audiobook this week (it is 18 hours long *sigh*) so I can free up more time for less serious books!

I finished reading
and I agree with both David and Jen, if that's possible! I liked it and gave it 4 stars, but I get David's point about something missing. I think it was because it was such a narrow narrative. I want to read the rest of the series, though. Also finished
and it disappointed me a little. I gave it 3 stars. The concept and mystery of it was cool, but I just didn't like the style of writing.Finished
and I loved this one, a great fun contemporary, although not realistic.Read
and this one really disappointed me. It was a terrible ending book of the trilogy. If you have not read the Eve trilogy, I definitely don't recommend it based solely on this book. I gave it 3 stars and that was being generous. Also finished
and I enjoyed it, it was very creepy! I will be reading the rest of this series. Then started my reread of
and loving it so far! Also going to read
today and maybe I'll get to

Jenny I am enjoying Inkheart so far. I plan to read Wool soon. I gave Life As We Knew it 3 stars - I liked it while I read it but forgot about it shortly afterwards which is never a good sign.
The first book is really good, the second book is not quite as good, but the last book--major disappointment!

next and then I think
releases in a couple of weeks!
Just got home from Vancouver (my brother got married - a really cool Vietnamese traditional ceremony, as his wife is from Vietnam), so still a "little" jet lagged! But will start Inkheart tonight (assuming I stay awake long enough to open a book)

You can PM them to me whenever. I'll be free from a fair amount of my work by Wednesday, so if you could do it by then, that'd be excellent.

Well, I was coming in to grab a few but between Heidi and Karen they've gotten all of them that I am familiar with. I could attempt some of the others but they would be pretty generic.

I think that's all Harold does, Wendy. :-) Once I get mine done, I'll start snatching some of the ones I don't know. I went into reviews when I did my others and just picked interesting descriptions I found.
And if you'd rather, I'm happy to trade mine. I just picked the ones I knew.
