Vered how about Gregor The Overlander or The Emerald Atlas for your son?

message 5502: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) I'll check those out, thanks!

message 5503: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Also The Book Of Three Vered!

message 5504: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) oops, just checked with my son - he wasn't too thrilled with Gregor, and the Emerald Atlas was 'ok' in his oh so humble opinion.

message 5505: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) He hasn't heard of the Book of Three, so that might be an option!

message 5506: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Wow! He is a picky guy! Hope Book of Three works!

message 5507: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) Tell me about it. And let's not start with his dietary preferences...

Hahahaha well I'm a vegetarian so can't say much there!

message 5509: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Does he like Harry Potterish stuff? Maybe Charlie Bone?

If he likes a main boy character with attitude, he might like The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen .

message 5510: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer A. Nielsen are great reads, I LOVED them! I recommend them all the time to middle grade kids!

message 5511: by Amreen (new)

Amreen | 33 comments I'd recommend the Shadow Children series! Among the Hidden is the first in the series.

I love them, too! I can't wait for the third book.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Hmmm, I haven't posted what I'm reading lately on here. I just finished On the Jellicoe Road and am just about done with Eden. I recently started Fablehaven. I put Inkheart and The Merchant of Death on hold for now. Just didn't really get into them that much. Oh, I also am reading The Blue Castle due to Heidi's recommendation.

message 5514: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Ooooo Becky I hope you like Blue Castle! I loved it back in the day but it seems to hold up because some of my other GR friends liked it.

message 5515: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Still reading Savvy because I forgot I put it in my backpack until I found it this afternoon.

Also reading a Manga series Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 04 On #4.

Manga seems to have picked up my want to read more 'real books' instead of graphic books because instead of reading heart wrenching things at bed (re: gone girl) i read light hearted manga and then have energy to read during the day.

I am off to go finish Savvy before I head to bed. Or at least attempt. Then we shall see where I go from there :) I want to get rid of some books before I have to move. So probably will read some I know I won't keep unless I absolutely adore them.

message 5516: by Emma (new)

Emma | 13 comments I am currently reading The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss only 50pages in, but it is really good so far.

message 5517: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments My son is actually enjoying me reading Savvy to him and his sisters at bedtime. He has asked to borrow it so he can just finish it himself. (I have refused. Gotta keep him in suspense.)

The Blue Castle is great so far. Not as wonderful as Pride & Prejudice, but the banter (with family) and fun in it is comparable for me.

Emma I have had the audio for Name of the Wind on hold at my library for weeks. I am about to just get it from Audible. Someone told me it was better than Game of Thrones.

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yay Becky! I think Blue Castle is a hidden gem.

message 5520: by Emma (new)

Emma | 13 comments I haven't read all of Game of Thrones yet. I have left it for a bit. I am really enjoying Name of the Wind. It is very intriguing and well written.

message 5521: by Kristenj2009 (new)

Kristenj2009 | 22 comments Name of the Wind sounds like a more intense version of this book I read a few weeks ago, Poison, Poison by Bridget Zinn

Kristenj2009 | 22 comments Even the covers look a little alike :-)

message 5523: by Emma (new)

It wasn't out of this world, but it wasn't exactly bad either. If you're looking for a decent read with danger, adventure and a little romance, you might enjoy this. Here is the link for my review of Poison: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I felt like I haven't read a touchy-feely book since Fault in Our Stars so I decided I'd try it. It's really good so far and I've managed not to collapse into a sobbing mess.

Divergent is amazing. If I were you I would read the ones that are coming out on film soon first then the rest.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments i rarely see movies in theatres because of my sensory issues. So until they come out on DVD or on netflix etc. it is unlikely i would see them anyways.

Ok scrap that idea then lol. I normally just go to the own that takes my fancy first, if I keep looking, I end up restless when I finally decide because I really want to read another one at the same time.

Wow! You are on book overload! I love to hate that feeling!I am not into paranormal YA books so did not like a few on your list so I will remain silent about what to pick first! hahahaha

message 5549: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I just want to read all of them. RIGHT NOW.

I think I might use it as an incentive to read books i know i won't keep after i read them like YOU CAN'T READ this book UNTIL YOU READ 6 BOOKS AND PUT THEM IN YOUR TO GET RID OF BOX.

XD

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments books are some of the worst things to move (repeatedly)

like.. i love them, but damn. moving 20 boxes of books is just ... hell on earth. especially moving them a lot ._.
