My son read most of..."
It contains one or two mature references in the book as the main characters are in 10th grade. For example, once when there digging threw some trash they find a condom wrapper and there's a few curse words in the book. Also, it has some historical fiction involved which may be a bit boring for an 8 year old. But if you want to read it first and decide if it's suitable you can do that. I think the Bone books are more appropriate and fun for younger readers, while Mercury is more of a teen book. Hope this helped :)

Sounds good. I'll have to try them!

Those are my favorites, too. :D I think I've read all his books except A..."
Abundance of Katherines was one of my Teen Book Club picks and I found it rather dull...I could only read about 115pages before I DNF-ed it. It definitely wasn't anywhere close to as good as say Fault in Our Stars was.

Glad I could help, and I absolutely love the Percy Jackson series. Happy Reading :)

That looks cute. I listened to a sample of the audio and I like the narrator's voice. I like that your kids like listen to audiobooks Peep :)

That is great! Start them while they are young!

Haha, yes, that is me!
Yay Peep! I wanted to talk to someone about these BBC shows I have been obsessed with on youtube (I watch through my blu ray but I also just found I can stream youtube through the Robu with Twonky -- have you used that before Peep?? I know you have a Roku). Anywho we watched Tales From the Green Valley and all the people in that series were also in Victorian Farm, Edwardian Farm, and Wartime Farm. I am obsessed with it! Next up we are going to watch Turn Back Time where 3 families go back into different time periods.
Also have you watched Supersizers Go....??? We watched it on Hulu Plus but I see it is also on youtube. Gah! I need someone else to watch these shows!!

ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT!! I am super excited and proud to mention that our own group member David's Country series was listed on Buzzfeed as one of "15 series to read if you enjoyed Hunger Games" http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariellecalder....
I hope we can get some woot woots for David here because he is the only self published author on the list and to be honest I enjoyed his books more than some of the others listed! Yay David!!

I have gotten through have of Supersizers go and then I completely forgot about it! I did like what I saw before though. I don't know how I forgot.

Twonky is an app you get on your phone or tablet (I have it on my Nook Color and ipod touch) and it streams youtube (and other channels) directly to your roku - it is pretty cool once you figure it out. I am so excited for you to give me updates on your thoughts! I can't find anyone who will watch these shows! It is reality tv but also educational - what is not to love!
Tales from the Green Valley is the first series but you need not watch them in order. I think the Victorian Farm was my favorite. Basically these experts go back in time and live on a farm with only the tools from that period for 12 months. I loved it! So far I also like Turn Back Time. I really love that people can add FULL episodes of BBC shows on youtube so you don't have to watch 15 minute increments. So nice! Also, you need to finish Supersizers Go... -- it was so good! *squee* so excited for someone to chat about these with!

I just finished watching The Great British Sewing Bee last week. Can't wait for the next season of that show!
Yay Peep! Yeah I don't understand the not living there thing either but they are there A LOT from what I can tell and stay overnight but I don't know for sure how much time they spent there. Sooooo excited to have another person watching! I have a little crush on Alex :)

WOOOOT, WOOOT!!! This is so exciting, I've been happy dancing for days inside my head!! He is so deserving of this!

Um I actually looked up Manor House on youtube and it was listed in the "more like this" section! I subscribed to Maddie's youtube station -- I think that is the name of the girl who posted all the episodes? Then I found Turn Back Time from the Tales from the Green in the "more like this" section. There is also a series called "Coal House" I have saved but have yet to watch.

Is it the Dwellers series? Thanks!

I've been posting it on Facebook, tweeting it and even pinning on Pinterest. If everyone does that, we'll create tons of buzz for our awesome buddy, David!!
http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariellecalder...

Yes, its the Moon Dwellers series!
Thanks Jenny! Yes the Dwellers not the Country series sorry! I plan to start the Country series so I have that on my brain!

Congrats, David! That's so exciting.

I read this when I was younger and loved it. I need to dig up a copy of it so I can have it in my collection and reread it.

You're amazing!!

Thanks Jenny! I wasn't sure, so I picked up both first books of those series. You can't beat those Kindle prices ;P

I noticed the pin I did yesterday had 6 repins, and that there were at least 20 people who had pinned it themselves before me (that it showed me - could have been bunches it didn't show).
And Jenny, I just repinned your pins! Hahahah...

I just did a blog post about this article and how awesome David books are!
http://juliababyjenreadingroom.blogsp...

Ooohhh, you can pin using different covers of the different series. One of my pins had the Crossed cover and that one got repinned 6 times. I'm repinning using the different covers now. Muahahahahaa...

Hmmm, I don't do Pinterest, but I did put it up on my FB page. Especially since I'm from the Pittsburgh area and many of my FB friends are from there. I thought folks would be extra interested in David.

Looks like I'll be reading this one to my kids. Or I might try interlibrary loan.

And I am so much better for having met you and reading your books :)
Yay Harold! I am at my dad's and am only able to use my iPod touch for a few days for Internet stuff so I will vote when I'm back home.

Endless smiles :):) :)

Those are my favorites, too. :D I think I've read all his books except An Abundance of Katherines––which I've heard isn't that good.
