If you like paranormal type books the summoning was ok (much better than say Twilight). I am not huge into that genre, so I would go with I am the Messenger, which I loved.

Bluemoon I am really glad I am not alone on the City of Bones thing. I just don't get all the love.

Thanks for thoughts. I think I'm going to go with I am Messenger first. That way if I get really sucked into the Darkest Powers trilogy I can just read straight through.

Good idea!

I finally finished Blue Moon. I'm going on to Shadowland. I am also starting to read Chicken Soup for the Soul: Christmas Magic: 101 Holiday Tales of Inspiration, Love, and Wonder, a little holiday reading.
Heidi I wrote: "Bluemoon I am really glad I am not alone on the City of Bones thing. I just don't get all the love."
*GASSPPP* … I have nothing else to say.
I love those books. :)

D: Part of my soul just died …
Anyway. I read
today. SO GOOD. Neal Shusterman is too amazing for words. :)
And I'm also starting to read
Woot wooot :)

But … But … They're so exciting and hilarious and awesome and … yeah. Oh well. I'll go obsess over them with my friend … who is also obsessed. Thanks to me. (I get her obsessed with a lot of books, now that I think about it…)
Brigid paranormal is my least favorite genre and this kind of paranormal book, (you know...the overly wordy type), really annoys me easily. I am also a lot *cough* older than you and perhaps I am more picky and jaded in my old age! p.s. On a positive note, we still share the same love for Knife of Never Letting Go :)
Well, I can agree the writing's not the best. But I was in love with the plot/world/characters. :) Haha, I'm a pretty picky reader too. But idk, the Mortal Instruments books just had that "it" factor for me. I was hooked from the start. :D
Truuuee. Chaos Walking is DA BOMB. :)

Finished Linger a couple days ago. Now I'm reading Invisible I.Oh, and I could never get into the Mortal Insturments series either :P
Bluemoon wrote: "So I finished City of Bones and it was ok in the end. Part 3 was a step up from Part 1 and 2. Actually its more like a jump up. So it made the book ok rather than ewwwwww..."
Still plan to skip it!
Still plan to skip it!
From what I read of Mortal Instruments it was TOTALLY like Twilight and that is why I quit. She has the same overly wordy writing style as S. Meyers that I can not stand. Brigid we will just have to agree to disagree about this one :)

So I'm still working on I Am the Messenger, but I just came home with Saving Francesca. I am so excited. Then I will be caught up for The Piper's Son once it's released in the U.S. Woot!!
Bluemoon wrote: "hmmmm...werewolves (one who is desperately in love with a girl who only sees him as a friend)...a girl in despair...a covenant that doesn't help their people...a forbidden 'love'(? ewww...may I add..."
What werewolf? Simon isn't a werewolf … :/ And tons of books have love triangles, especially ones involving the girl's best friend. I don't see why that makes them "eerily similar" to Twilight.
… But alright. I will keep all angry ranting to myself, since it's pointless. :P

Sooo I'm still reading
. It's kind of taking me a while because I do most of my reading during school … and this book is too chunky to fit in my backpack. *sigh*
And I'm also reading
which is … ehhh all right so far. Wild Things + Dave Eggers is a pretty cool combination. But it was one of the books of my childhood and nothing can really amount to it ...

ohhhh, gotcha. Yeah, but there's no vampire involved there ;) And that's just the backstory, not the main plot.
Yeah … but those are all pretty basic to a lot of fantasy books. I'm not saying they're the most original thing ever, but I loved the characters and I thought the story was exciting/addicting. At least there are a lot of plot twists. In something like Twilight it's mostly just focused on the romance aspect with very little action in between plot twists ...

What do you mean "still working on I Am the Messenger"? I loved that book! Well...at least until the ending, (which was different), but all the same I love love loved it!

Heidi I wrote: "Brittany wrote: "So I'm still working on I Am the Messenger, but I just came home with Saving Francesca. I am so excited. Then I will be caught up for [book:The Piper's ..."It means I haven't finished it yet silly. BUT I also have school work, and work work, so my time is a bit limited... ya know, end of the semester stuff. I'm loving it though. I'm about 2 chapters into the Spades part of the book..and WHOA! Didn't see that coming!! But unfortunately I can't just drop everything and read all day, however much I may want to. I will finish soon enough. Have faith Heidi! We can't all be the speed readers. Statistics first... and this website is a horrible form of procrastination!! Yet I cannot resist.
And I know you were just kidding. When I'm finished and have my review posted we can talk about it in detail! I promise. Hopefully by then the semester will be over and I will have a month of freedom!
Oh! Gotcha Brittany. p.s. Don't even mention the word statistics to me! I had to take that for my major and *cough* took it 3 times before I could get the grade I needed.
I had a weekend for reading... oh the joy of hours of uninterrupted bliss! Just finished Scars
and Leviathan
Will be moving on to
shortly after

If you ever make me mad I'll just start rambling about z-scores, t-distributions, Bell-curves, p-values, confidence levels, and the dreaded r coefficient (what I'm currently working on) I can see the flashbacks of horror running through your mind now.
Aren't you glad I only have 1 week left? :)
Brittany you will forget it all by Christmas! I don't remember a thing I learned in that class - except my hate for it.

Ugh, one can only hope! Next semester is Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. Then if all goes according to plan, PT school. So I'd say that gives me 3.5 more years of school. On the plus side, then you'll have to call me Dr. Brittany because I'm just snobby like that. :)
I just cannot get into Invisible I. I have been reading it FOREVER now! I will finish it by the weekend. Or Saturday morning!
Eww I just finished statistics up this week Brittany! The comprehensive final kicked my butt. Hopefully we will never have to think of it again after this semester!

Amen to that Kourtni. I'm taking my class online, so I don't have a "final" but I do have my final exam of the course next week. Then we shall forever be free. Hopefully...

Heidi, you will be happy to know I finished the Spades section and am now moving on to Hearts! BTW... WTF was all that about? I mean the first 2 suites fine, but spades was just...well, MEAN! I'm really confused/intrigued now.
Aussie writers Brittany - they confuse the heck out of you! Spades was mean, but it makes more sense at the end (I think! It has been awhile). Can't wait to see how you feel about that ending.

Okay Heidi... I've finished I Am the Messenger. I thought hearts was cute but I HATED the Joker part of the book! Ugh. Still though, definitely worth the read. I'm glad I picked it up. And even though I loved Ed, I still think my heart will always belong to Max... and Rudy!

Heidi, the way she writes it is just so honest and funny! I honestly can say that from only the 50th page, this book already gets 5 stars :D There's 3 more, right?

Yup. I am actually listening to the latest
. Year of Secret Assignments is my favorite so far.

I'm reading Jellicoe Road
right now and it's wonderful so far. Also reading Never Let Me Go
. Great writing (which I looove) and I really want to know the mystery behind their pasts... so very intriguing :)And last I'm halfway through Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
and while interesting, it's not to the point where I can't set it down. Hopefully it'll get more exciting near the end!

I've heard such great things about all of them, but especially The Year of Secret Assignments :D
Amy, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo takes some set up before you get into it - stick with it. I actually recommend the audio version. To be honest I did not LOVE the series until book two, which blew me away. I love Lisbeth!
Just finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time. I was suprised I liked it as much as I did! I thought it was amazing. Now I am reading The Lost Hero.
