Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Just finished The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer A. Nielsen . It was a great sequel to The False Prince. I can't wait for the third book to come out.

Not sure what I'll read next. I'll probably browse the library tomorrow and pick something that way.

Well I should finish Eleanor & Park by Friday so hopefully my library gets The dead Of Night by then and I can start it right afterwards -- I'll let you know. It will take me longer than you because I am listening to it but I will listen in the car where I get more "reading time" :)

Finished:

Data Runner by Sam A. Patel

It was all right, over all.

And now I am reading:

Midnight City (Conquered Earth, #1) by J. Barton Mitchell

Which is okay so far, but I'm only like a fifth of the way through it or something. :P

Brigid I am on disk 5 out of 7 of Eleanor & Park and I am so far loving it more than Anna and the French Kiss. Park is so sweet. I will let you know my final thoughts when I'm done :)

It is more "real world" than Anna - I don't want to give too much away but the least one of them has a lot of things going on in their lives that you don't find in normal fluffy romances. It is super sweet - but not throw up sweet, more like makes you smile sweet (does that make sense)?? I still love Anna (well more St. Clair) though!!

message 5214: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (hoggman) currently reading:
The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1) by J.R.R. Tolkien Wonder by R.J. Palacio Cannery Row by John Steinbeck
all three are wonderful but good lord the fellowships so slow! its taken me 6 months to get 93% through! i keep having to return it to the library though... i'm really enjoying cannery row though. quite nice. very base.
planning on starting very soon (i.e. just now checked them out from the library):
Seth Baumgartner’s Love Manifesto by Eric Luper Flight, Vol. 1 by Kazu Kibuishi (vol 3-8) Friends with Boys by Faith Erin Hicks Chew, Vol. 1 Taster's Choice by John Layman
im going on a comic book binge, cant read any novels while ive still got fellowship, itd slow me down.

anybody have anything to say on any of these though? either those im reading or those im planning on?

Karen & David both our buddy reads are available at my library to pick up ( The Dead of Night (Tomorrow, #2) by John Marsden and Flesh and Bone (Benny Imura, #3) by Jonathan Maberry ).
Any idea when you two want to start either of them?? Do you want to start a thread here or in David's group (I am fine either way :)

p.s. I have had a bad sinus infection all week and so have been a zombie (no pun intended) every night and not able to read :( I feel about 40% better today so hopefully I can get back on track when it is buddy read time! I had hoped to have my two library books I already checked out read by now :( Oh well!

I just finished:

I am about to start:

Aww hope you feel even better tomorrow (although I did laugh at your zombie joke and then felt bad about it).

Unless there are people here who want to join, we should do the Flesh & Bone one in my group as Jenny for sure wants to join and I think a couple others expressed interest (although they'll probably bail, as people do). I probably need a few days to finish up a beta read I'm doing, so either mid next week or the weekend, if that works? I'll ask Jenny too :) yay can't wait!!!

Loved Eleanor & Park. Hopefully Jenny will follow me here to discuss (and anyone else who has read it).

Jenny I agree with your thoughts on it resembling Lola (I have not read Pushing Limits so don't know about that but am off to look it up). E & P definitely had the snarkiness of a Stephanie Perkins book BUT the real life stuff reminded me of my favorite author Melina Marchetta. It was like a cross between Stephanie and Melina - how could you not love that?

Just starting Perfect Scoundrels Perfect Scoundrels (Heist Society, #3) by Ally Carter (Kat is a great character for the protag contest btw!) Plan to start the audio of The Dead of Night The Dead of Night (Tomorrow, #2) by John Marsden tomorrow for a buddy read with Karen. Woot woot!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments I need to read more of the Heist Society series. I loved the first book. (Enough that I bought it and gave it to my mom) but never seem motivated enough to buy the next. Maybe now that I kinda own the first I will.

Awww thanks...you made me feel special lol! Yes I agree, Pushing the Limits is very gritty with lots of real life drama, that's where I saw it in E & P. Lola and the Boy Next Door remind me of the little oddities and the snarkiness. The ending (view spoiler)

I finally thought to read the Patrick Ness short stories on my Nook Color (I just looked up my email account and clicked and it worked). Why did not I not think of that before? Anywho I read them all. Yay!

message 5246: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2) by Katie McGarry and that finally got me out of the funk of E & P! Their story was an even bigger train wreck!

Started The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey , but only read 100 pages in and thought I would read something else for awhile, since its kind of depressing and I'm already in a funk as it is! So I tried Rouge (Volume 1) by Leigh Talbert Moore ,which is also kind of depressing, but I'm hooked lol!
