I'm a bit addicted to Vampire Academy and the latest spin-offs too, with Sidney and Adrian!
I liked the Hunger Games, but then it started getting massive and then everyone kept comparing my book to it and that drove me mad!!
I'm struggling a bit with the kindle because its really hard to tell what you are getting...I've taken to walking around the bookshops to choose my books and then buying them on kindle but there's so many good indie authors who I miss that way.

Oh yay! Chaos Walking kicks Hunger Games ass IMO (and I liked HG). So excited when I find another Chaos lover! Have you read his other YA book A Monster Calls?? That was my favorite book of 2012 -so so good.

The hunger games series was awesome too.
PS I've always wanted to know, what's an indie author?

Is it me or is the same girl on the cover of North of beautiful the same one that is on the cover of Evermore? I've noticed cover artists do that sometimes North of BeautifulEvermore

I loved the whole concept of Chaos Walking, the world of noise, a really original technique!
We have a few indie authors here in our group Kristen - basically they are self published authors. There are more and more of them out there now and while I used to shy away from them because I was worried about the quality I now find I like a lot of indie books more than blockbuster New York Times best sellers. Hopefully our indie authors will let themselves be known here so you can try them out :)

I love love love the whole Tomorrow When the War Began series!!

Haha yes it is the same girl. I coincidentally got those two books out of the library at the same time and I was like, "... Wait." O_o

So late last night I finished:
I enjoyed it a lot ... very interesting premise, and well-written. :)
Now I'm about halfway through:
And I'm not liking it very much. :-/ The main character is pretty ... mean.

Oh oh, where have I been? I've never heard of

It is your favorite genre Karen (dystopian) --get on it! Btw it is an Aussie author so if like accents get it on audiobook!

Not bad but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read beautiful disaster first because I already knew what was going to happen. The epilogue was a surprise though.

I only read the first one (listened to it) so if you decide to go on to book 2 let me know and we can have a buddy read :)

They made a terrible movie out of the first book but I LOVED the series. I read all 6 or 7 in the main series plus the 3 post-series books. I think you'll enjoy them Karen!
Karen wrote: "Well, I have Heidi / (trust me) and my book twin recommending this series so I'm in for sure now!"
I am was not 100% into the first book but it is worth the read - I think you will like it though Karen and like I said I would be happy to give book two a try if you get to it :)

Yeah!! Buddy read with Heidi! **moving it up the list!!**

You have no idea how thrilled AND terrified I am!

Basically a woman goes with her husband to Scotland in the 1940's for a second honeymoon after the war. They were separated while she was off nursing and he was fighting. So they go on this second honeymoon to Scotland and she wanders to a miniature Stonehenge and touches it, being launched back in time to the 1740's where adventure, romance and chaos ensues. It's like a historical fiction/adventure/romance, lol.

Currently I am reading:

Currently on hold-digitally from the library are:
The Ask and the Answer
The Kill Order
The Divergent Series 2-Book Collection - I've read Divergent, but will re-read it and then read Insurgent.
Just checked out from the library:
The Giver - Finishing what I've got ahead of this one first.
The Magdalene Cipher - Title looked interesting, will see how it goes here in a day or so.

Aha! I've been debating back and forth about reading this series. I may have to give it a whirl this summer.
Karen if you read Outlander YOU MUST listen to the audiobook! Be warned it is really long!
Wendy I thought of you when I saw that announcement because I know what a fan of the series you are! I was thinking the same thing (it will either be really good or really bad!) Any early casting yet?? That is going to be the best part!

Looking for Alaska is not one of my favorite Green books either (Will Grayson and Fault are my top two). I was not a fan of the Giver - how about you?? Yay for The Ask the Answer!!

Either the best part, or the absolutely WORST part. I have my lines that can't be crossed. While Jamie doesn't have to look exactly as I picture him, I think he does need to have the red hair (even if it's a realistic dye job) and the height. Jamie's hair and height could have been characters of their own with as much as they were mentioned. Claire has to have dark soft curls... but mostly you have to be able to feel the characters. Like, Josh wasn't perfect but I could see Peeta in him. That's what I want.
No casting has been announced yet. I think they're just starting that processess now. But you know that I will be following it like a stalker, lol.

Finished:
Meh it wasn't very good. Nothing really happens in it until like the last 3% of the book or so. And I couldn't stand the main character.
Started:
I'm not sure what I think of it yet. But I've heard a lot of really good things about it.

Brigid you always have books I have never heard of (which is a good thing because I find a lot of good ones when you love them :)
Whoops. Sometimes I forget not everyone can handle when you don't agree with them! I will come back to my group here where I can rant away and no one cares!

@Pragya - Hmm yeah, so far I'm kind of doubtful that I'll love it as much as most other people. But I'm enjoying it for the most part.
@Heidi - Yay for introducing you to new books! Booo to people in other groups who can't handle differences in opinion. Fortunately this is such a considerate group. ;) But yeah, I've run into some very nasty people on Goodreads. (I've literally had several people on here call me a bitch just for saying I didn't like a book ... lovely, eh? Hahaha.)

Oh wow! Nothing quite so extreme here as the B word! I just always say what I think and forget others aren't used to that/me! This person just kind of mentioned that have to work on understanding everyone is entitled to their own opinion so they need to get used to it(thereby kind of hinting that I was a little to extreme in my comment for their tastes :) hahahaha I guess I am spoiled here since everyone is used to me. No biggie.

Finished Ketchup Clouds (will get my laptop and link it later)...decent story, decently told but it didn't amaze me. Not the slightest thing wrong with it, just didn't rock my world! A real pity because I liked the name...and the name of her other book, My Sister Lives on the Shelf, is pretty good. Don't think I'll be going there though!
5th Wave is next!!
Well I can be pretty blunt sometimes - especially if I don't like a book. I try to tame it down but sometimes it doesn't happen!

Tame & Heidi - I'm trying to visualise those two concepts together... Nope, not working.
I think it's easy to misinterpret people's intentions via email or written forums like GR. So I can imagine people taking Heidi or Brigid the wrong way, 'cause you two write what you think! Well, and the fact that you both actually think might bother other people!
