Finished this morning:

The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

I had mixed feelings about it. And I think my perspective on it was kind of clouded because I'd seen the movie first ... and I think the characters were more interesting in the movie. So yeah. I don't know. Over all, I thought it was okay, but I think I actually prefer the movie version.

I'm now about a third of the way through:

Ink (Paper Gods, #1) by Amanda Sun

It has an interesting setting/premise, but it seems to be heading down the typical YA paranormal romance route. Ugh. I had high hopes for it, too. :-/

I loved Amy and Roger too, hence reading this one. It's good so far.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I am reading Lucy in the Sky by Anonymous
It is really good.

I am trying to finish I Conquer Britain by Dyan Sheldon

But blehhh.

I have to re-read the hunger games for my book club... which I think I will then re-read catching fire and finally read mockingjay. Seems like a good time to do that :)

Andd... I am trying to tell myself that it isn't in the budget to buy allllll david's books for my nook this month ;)

Because y'all know how much I need ebooks especially when I have like 300 unread IRL books hahahaha (and like 200gb of ebooks @__@)

I have been having a lot of seizures so I just haven't been reading a lot. But I hope to change that. :)

Lol thank youuuuu!!! Save your budget and pace yourself :) My books will still be there next month! But thank you so much for the support, it made me smile ;)

Personally, I thought Days of Blood and Starlight was awesome, waaaay better than the first book. I enjoyed the beginning of the first book, was bored in the middle, and mildly intrigued by the backstory at the end. But the second book, wow! Loved loved loved it :)

Yeah Blood Red Road is not the best dystopian ever - after Chaos it all went downhill for me! David mentioned having the 5th Wave as our June read and I am all for it!

I am a wild card David. I did like the author's writing in general - the story not so much if that makes sense.

Oh yeah ... I still haven't read Days of Blood and Starlight. I'm pretty much in the same boat as Heidi; I wasn't in love with the first book but I heard the sequel was much better so I was still considering it. Hrrm.

Anyway, last night I finished:

Ink (Paper Gods, #1) by Amanda Sun

It was ... mehhh. Pretty typical paranormal romance. Too bad, because I thought the idea was really promising.

Now I've started:

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer Cassidy Jones and the Secret Formula (Cassidy Jones Adventures, #1) by Elise Stokes

The Isle of Blood (The Monstrumologist, #3) by Rick Yancey and very much enjoying it.

@David - I totally agree about 5th Wave. I liked Zombie's perspective but Cassie's ended up being pretty boring. I was pretty disappointed by that, considering the summary on the book makes it sound like the story is all about Cassie, but I feel like Zombie was actually the more important character and Cassie barely did anything for most of the book. Blah. As you said, I just don't think it compares to really good dystopian books like Chaos Walking, Unwind, Angelfall, etc. Too bad. I had really high expectations, because I LOVE Rick Yancey's Monstrumologist series.

@Heidi - ... Speaking of the Monstrumologist books, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the third one! :)

This morning I finished:

Screwed by Laurie Plissner

I was ... not a fan. I found it pretty infuriating, unfortunately.

I also started:

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken

I've been meaning to read it for a while and I've heard good things about it, so I'm hoping I enjoy it! I'm not too far into it yet and it's kind of confusing so far, but I'm intrigued.

message 4997: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments Finished up The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey . Ugh.

I think I need a break from reading. My brain is STARVING for a fulfilling book. Heck, for fulfilling entertainment. (I haven't seen a movie that's stuck with me in the past six years or more either.)

Sigh. Yet, without reading, I'm so bored.

Maybe I'll try going back and re-reading some old comics I used to like. Not sure if it's just that I'm getting older, or I've read WAY too many stories in my life...but it's harder and harder to find things that just work for me. I barely watch tv anymore, I hardly see movies. Even video games seem repetitive. Too much been-there-done-that.

Sigh.
