Elle (louiselesley) I finished my Kathy Reichs book and got to say I was a bit gutted.

Started Broadmoor Revealed: Victorian Crime and the Lunatic Asylum and so far quite interesting but may read another fiction book at the same time to prevent overload of History along with studying xD

Hi - I am a new member to the group. I am currently reading The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande. I am @ 36% and so far it is very interesting.

Hey Sonya, I read The Stand, it was my first Stephen King book - long but I really enjoyed the way King talked about how everyone had to overcome the challenges of living in a world where they had to recreate society and laws, not to mention managing all the death around them, their future, etc. To be honest, the end was not to my liking but as I've found reading other King's novels, the journey is the best part.

Todd Fonseca | 4 comments I'm currently reading a series of three novella's from DV Berkom (actually "listening" via text to speech feature - i love this feature!). Dead of Winter by DV Berkom Death Rites by DV Berkom Touring for Death by DV Berkom . These are fast action pack pop-corn stories.

Hated it? I can't say I feel that strongly about it. It hasn't really caught my attention much yet. It just rambles...but then again I'm not usually into romance books either.

I've read Andrew E. Kaufman's The Lion, The Lamb, The Hunted (actually several times because I helped with the book behind the scenes) and I will say it truly is an awesome book. You'll enjoy it, Melissa!

I'm taking a short reading break because I'm not so sure I can top that one at the moment.

I felt like gouging my eyes out with a spoon but felt the need to finish it because it was a goodreads summer read. I got about 3 chapters from the end.

The thing I hated the most was that the end was the start....

Betsy America Aflame, a history of U.S. civil war. Good, but long.

Earth: An Intimate History, for a GR group read.

And in hardback, The Tribe of Tiger about cats. Started this once several years ago but never finished it. Don't know why as it's quite good.

Well mainly because I like a book that has a start, middle and end and this book had an end, start then middle.

Odd, out of order, boring story line, hated characters. I just don't get why it is loved so much. Yes, it is wrote extremely well but it's such a hard book to get into cause it is so, boring.

Betsy, I like how you usually have multiple books at the same time. I get too interested in one and don't want to take time away from reading it.

message 1273: by Betsy (new)

Betsy I do that sometimes, especially if it`s fiction, but with nonfiction, i frequently need to take a break. Or I`ll be interrupted by something more urgent, like a GR group read.

Yvette, I read those in succession as well. I had resisted reading them because of the genre but thoroughly enjoyed them. Enjoy.

Goodreads group reads. Books selected to be read by a Goodreads group usually during a specified time.

I understood that you meant Goodreads Group Reads. I just don't know how to find them. What groups have group reads? Are they genre specific? Author? I don't belong to many groups.

Out of everyone she was the most likeable character, and the end just felt like a... well not an ending.

Betsy Charlene wrote: "What groups have group reads? Are they genre specific? Author? I don't belong to many groups. "

It really depends on the group. This one doesn't have group reads; it wouldn't really make sense. But many genre specific groups do. I belong to a Science and Inquiry group which has group reads every month. I also belong to a Fans of Maps group which just started group reads. It depends on what you're interested in. I suggest you go to the main groups page (click on Groups on the top menu bar) and either search for a topic you're interested in or just browse until you find something that clicks for you. If they have group reads, the currently-reading books should show on the home page for the group.
