Beth I read quite a diverse set of books in August and enjoyed them all (not all are available on the Kindle):

An Elevated View: Colorado Writers on Writing (an excellent essay anthology)
Carte Blanche
On the Wrong Track
Quick Service (a hoot and a half!)
Heaven's Keep

...and I'm currently reading
The Roald Dahl Omnibus: Perfect Bedtime Stories for Sleepless Nights, an excellent collection of faintly creepy short stories.

message 1022: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Burroughs (pooks) I'm zipping through samples right now, looking for something to grab my attention. But I did download a ton of Georgette Heyers which were on sale a few weeks ago, so maybe that's the direction to go!

Patricia Burroughs (pooks) Laura wrote: "I just finished A Cottage by the Sea by Ciji Ware. Great book"

Since I spent two weeks in Cornwall by the sea this spring, this book grabs my attention. Thanks for listing it. Just downloaded the sample to my Kindle!

message 1027: by Debs (new)

Debs (whatdebsreads) I just started reading Mile 81 by Stephen King

message 1028: by Ryan (new)

Ryan (ryantreeclimber) I've just started Dune. I'm afraid I have opened another series that will draw me in. I have been trying to catch up to the Sword and Laser reading group. There a so many huge tomes to tackle, but I am gaining slowly. I think I may set a personal record for the most pages in a year, if not the highest number of books. Thank goodness I have a Kindle, lugging these huge books along everywhere would keep me from reading as often. I can just stick this kindle in my bag and read a bit anytime I have a chance.

message 1029: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissa_wy) Just started After Eden (Fallen Angels) by Katherine Pine and finished HELPER12 by Jack Blaine before that...verrry good book!

stormhawk | 542 comments Machine of Death: A Collection of Stories about People Who Know How They Will Die

Great concept, middling execution. Too many of the stories have endings that just don't resonate with the rest of the story.

please read
Cipher - by Linda C. Mollis
;)

message 1035: by David (new)

David (dschigusa) I just discovered the Project Gutenberg, which has free downloads for Kindle (.mobi) of no-longer-copyright books. I downloaded Joyce's Ulysses, which I'm partway through in book-form anyway. I like it better on the Kindle because the page layout is much more spacious, meaning I can focus on it better line-by-line.

message 1050: by Priya (new)

Priya (priya_a) | 1 comments I started George RR Martin's 'A Dance with Dragons' and fell asleep mid-sentence. Five times. So I put that on hold and started Maureen Lang's 'Oak Leaves'. Hated the beginning.. around 53% done and I'm still debating whether to give this up entirely. Of course, while I continue reading. Obsessive-compulsive that way. :-(
