I just started The Hunger Games. Not quite sure about it yet. Hoping it is as good as everyone says.

Just started Field Gray by Philip Kerr. It's historical crime noir: former Berlin detective Bernie Gunther has to come clean about his role in WWII, and the story switches between the 1940s and 1950s. Like it so far. It's already better than his last one and definitely my kind of story.
I am really learning a lot from The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration. I always wondered how African Americans left the South and ended up in northern cities. I didn't know much about Jim Crow laws. It's all very interesting.
Key of Light by Nora Roberts. I love this book so far! It grabs you right from the beginning and makes you not want to let go!
DixieChick, I have been eyeing that one too. Is it dry or does it real like a novel? History doesn't have to be boring!!!!! It all depends on the writer's abilies.
I recently finished Portrait of a Turkish Family and absolutely loved it. I also read the egalley for Tiny Sunbirds, Far Away and can highly recommend that too. It all depends on what subject you find interesting. I have reviews for both with quotes. For me, how an author writes is terribly important.
Blue Blood and MutinyLearning a lot about the world of finance, though much of the first part of this book reads like a diatribe against the CEO of Morgan Stanley. The second half of the book, so far, is more interesting.

The Magnolia League I got an ARC copy for Net Galley for review. It's pretty good so far. I'm really curious as to where it's going to go from where I'm currently at.
The Restorer by Amanda StevensI got it from netgalley.com because a friend recommended it. It's a paranormal romance, which is totally NOT a genre I tend to like, but I've enjoyed this book.
I just completed Valeria's Last Stand, the Kindle version.. Here follows my GR review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...I am very glad it is over; I din't enjoy it. I explain why in my review. If you like slapstick humor, well then you just might enjoy it.
I only bought my Kindle yesterday, so first book I bought was Water for ElephantsI'm really enjoying it so far, hoping to finish it shortly, as I'm looking forward to seeing the film soon.
Hi everyone, first post here in the Kindle group. I'm about 74% into Equations of Life by Simon Morden, it's a fun book, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

I've been meaning to pick this one up for a while now. Not only do I like his writing, but I'm a football dork as well. :-)

Am 20% of the way through 'Hamlet's Blackberry' and am enjoying it immensely. How often do you 'disconnect'?
I gave up on "Discovery of Witches" - if I had to read about the lead character eating one more time I was going to throw my Kindle against a wall!
Before 'Hamlet's Blackberry' I took a humorous detour via "You Might Be a Zombie and Other Bad News" and then "Everything Is Going to Kill Everybody".
Still undecided what to tackle next.

Also: Go Portland Timbers! My hometown/boyhood club is finally "promoted" to MLS and we're having a freakin blast up here.
Okay, everyone, please return to your regular reading conversation ; )

I gave up on Discovery of Witches as well. I had read 40% on my kindle and still nothing had happened.
I've just started reading Belfast Girls by Gerry McCullough. Slow going but will persevere as everyone who's read it says it's good.
Finishing up the Hunger Games trilogy. Started off with a bang but the third book is a struggle to plod through for me.
Reading Romance Novel by PJ Jones. It's a spoof, but with a naked guy who has a beer belly, in a kilt--how could I resist?
I'm reading, Sense and Sensibility, from the complete works of Jane Austen on chapter 12
Just started Sugar & Spice. Self-published Kindle only, it's apparently already a best seller in the UK. It's pretty well written, gripping, but not always pleasant. I'm about a third of the way through.Hamlet's BlackBerry: A Practical Philosophy for Building a Good Life in the Digital Age looks interesting. Got me to thinking about how often I disconnect. My primary way to disconnect/decompress is to read, but I do that on the Kindle or my phone, so is that really disconnecting?
I'm almost finished with Gone With the Wind. But I'm also about 60-ish% through World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and just started A Clash of Kings. BF and I are also re-reading The Hobbit out loud to each other before bed.
And of course, I've got an audiobook going: Death's Daughter, written by Buffy alum Amber Benson.
I got a subscription to Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine a couple of days ago, with a 14 day free trial. I think I'm going to continue, it's only $2.99/month. So, I've been reading that. Going to start on Boneshaker next.

Reading out loud to each other? Now that is really cool.

Thanks! :)
I'm reading book one of an Anitra Lynn McLeodseries. The kindle is the number one reason I've gotten addicted to a bunch of series. That "first one free" is dangerous.
A bunch of the cheap books I've gotten have that weird double indentation happening in some of the chapters. (the latest was Nativitas) Very annoying and it's been in books I've read for years.
I'm sure it's an issue when authors load stuff from PDF or Word and I wonder who to complain to at Amazon.
I don't want to get new copies of books, I want them to tinker with the software until it works. Yeah, yeah, and I want to win the lottery, I know.

You can complain to Amazon. If format issues are making it difficult to read, they will refund your money. I think I read here that it was a 2 week return policy?

Thanks! It's been distracting enough in a few books that I've returned them.
But the problem seems to happen in so many SELF-PUBLISHED ebooks, Amazon would figure out a solution. I don't think I've seen it happen in ebooks from regular publishers.
Kate wrote: "I don't think I've seen it happen in ebooks from regular publishers. "i have, on more than one occasion. I have also had updated editions sent to me without cost from amazon, as well as refunds on the really bad ones. And they are from the major publishers, who are just starting to catch on to the idea that ereaders are a force in the market, and that they should treat them as seriously as paper publishing.
Many of the self-published authors take a lot of care with their work. I interact with a lot of them on kindleboards.
Robin wrote: "I am 41% through "Warmth of Other Suns.""I really want to read this book, could I borrow it from you when you have completed it? U have heard it is so entralling that it reads as fiction. I could send you a PM? And there is no rush; I have books stacked up to read....
I have wanted to read The Dressmaker of Khair Khana: Five Sisters, One Remarkable Family, and the Woman Who Risked Everything to Keep Them Safe from the moment it caught my eye. I have received an egalley. I am really excited to start. It is a memoir about a family living in Afghanistan when the Taliban took over. It is a true story.

I'd like to think that on the Kindle is still disconnected, since even though it is an electronic device, no-one can 'contact' you through it, or distract/disturb you via it. The phone on the other hand...

I'm currently reading thejohn Holmes Bio a life measured in inches
Funny title.I'm sure you all are tired of hearing that I am STILL reading Vanity Fair.
80% down ... 20% to go.
Its a very good read and digs deep into the murders that he claimed he did not commit
