ETA- Ohh, I just watched the trailer and it looks awesome!

It was really fun! My cousin had gotten four tickets for her family and when she found out her daughter was going out of town that weekend she asked me if I wanted to come along. I jumped at the chance, of course. The audience was so pumped. There was a lot of singing and dancing and screaming. LOL.

Em (emmap) Count me in too - this is a fantastic show! I love it but I'm not sure It'll be shown here in UK at the same time, we just got to the end of the first series last week.

Carrie Honaker (carriehonaker) | 99 comments I love, love love this show! So clever. I just rewatched all of season 1 in anticipation. BTW this show is rife with moments to teach English. Dramatic Irony in Football/Beyonce clip, Ballads in the mashup clip etc. My kids love it!

message 13: by Em (new)

Em (emmap) The football/Beyonce clip was inspired! I made my husband watch it (even though he hasn't exactly been following it!) One of my favourite episodes.

message 14: by Britt☮ (new)

Britt☮ (genki_bee) The football/Beyonce scene is my favorite scene from the show so far!

Hello a show where everyone's always singing. I swear if we all sang wherever we went, the world would be a happier place. :)

message 18: by Em (new)

Em (emmap) I kinda half caught a trailer for Glee, alot going on in my house at the time but I think we get the next episodes from April 19th in UK. Yay! Hope so.

Britt☮ (genki_bee) *Episode 14 "Hell-O" spoilers*

I ♥ Idina Menzel! I hope she's in more episodes. Poor Rachel, but how could she NOT see Jesse's true intentions? Is she really that naive? :( I wish she'd give Finn another chance.

Sue is hilarious as ever!

"Gives You Hell" was definitely my favorite song from this episode (and actually MUCH less annoying than the original).

Thoughts about this episode?

message 26: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) *SPOILERS*

I loved their version of "Gives You Hell," but I love the original, too.

I don't know how Rachel can be so gullible. I really hope she goes back to Finn. He was so cute when he was singing that song by The Doors.

Sue was awesome. I loved her "Vogue" video.

But Mr. Schue ticked me off this episode. When he kissed that other coach, I wanted to kick him in the nuts. I'm sure Emma would have been really heartbroken if she'd found out about it.

Britt☮ (genki_bee) Harper wrote: But Mr. Schue ticked me off this episode. When he kissed that other coach, I wanted to kick him in the nuts. I'm sure Emma would have been really heartbroken if she'd found out about it.

I can kind of understand why he did it. He and Emma were about to go for it when she dropped the bomb that she's a virgin. It's like reaching for a piece of cake and then being told you're on a diet. Suddenly the thing you can't have becomes the thing you want the most, and you'll probably end up sneaking a piece of the cake.

I could see Idina Menzel's character threatening to tell Emma as blackmail or something, though. I hope that doesn't happen! Poor Emma, she was so crushed when she found out about the prom song... she'd be devastated if she found out Will made out with someone right after she confided in him about being a virgin.

Despite her setting up the Jesse/Rachel thing, it's just hard for me to be mad at Idina Menzel's character because I'm so enamored of her in real life. I hope she gets to sing in future episodes. Her voice is INCREDIBLE! *skips away to listen to "Wicked"*

message 28: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) I've heard some of the songs from "Wicked" by the original cast, but I've sadly never seen it. I actually didn't have any idea who she was. I had to look her up. But looking at her history, it's impressive that they got her to come on the show.

While I'm on the subject of guest appearances, I can't wait for Neil Patrick Harris to show up. I have a feeling it's going to be good.

message 29: by Javada (new)

Javada I love Glee...Last nights episode was GREAT!!!!!

message 30: by Britt☮ (new)

Britt☮ (genki_bee) *Episode 15 "The Power of Madonna" spoilers*

Lots of surprises in this episode!
-Artie's demands for Tina... he didn't seem like that type of guy :(
-Kurt and Mercedes joining the Cheerios after all Sue has done to sabotage the glee club! I guess it's not that surprising when I remember how easily swayed they were several episodes ago when Sue decided to form a separate minority glee club.
-Jesse transferring to McKinley High and joining New Directions. I so want to believe he's sincere, but that look that passed between him and the Vocal Adrenaline coach from the last episode is convincing me otherwise.
-Finn and Santana. I was surprised he went through with it but not that he lied about it.

I can't decide on my favorite song from this episode! I think it's "Like A Prayer," but maybe because it's my favorite Madonna song in general (though Kurt's range, like in "Defying Gravity," is amazing here!) Also, the "Vogue" music video was awesome, and the boys singing "What It Feels Like For A Girl" was really cute :)

message 31: by Chantelle (new)

Chantelle (chantelle13) | 20 comments Loved it. :)

message 32: by Ez (last edited Apr 21, 2010 05:50PM) (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Britt, I agree with you about Artie's demands for Tina seeming odd. Judging from all of the other episodes, he totally doesn't seem like the type of guy who would say those things. Maybe he had a temporary lapse in sanity.

I was disappointed that Finn actually went through with it. I was hoping he wouldn't at the last minute. I don't like Santana.

I loved the "Vogue" video and "Like a Prayer."

message 33: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (sjhensley) | 101 comments Last night's episode was so good! I think I enjoyed the Like a Virgin performances the best.

I think Jesse is gay pretending to be straight. I'm talking about the character, not the actor (who does happen to be gay.) Seriously, do you know any straight guys who act like Jesse?

I had Madonna songs going through my head all morning! That was just a really fun episode that I will have to watch again!

message 34: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 654 comments I'll catch up tonight! But I did see Hello and YES Rachel is that completely naive when it comes to love. She's obsessive-focused on the picturesque love story featured in musicals/stories. I knew immediately when Jesse appeared that it was a trick. Likewise with Jesse transferring, total trick. He'll switch back to his original school the day before the competition to rejoin Vocal Adrenaline and give 'em the set list from New Directions.

Neil Patrick Harris is going to be competition for Mr. Schue. He wants the Glee Club crushed, too. I imagine, it'll be awesome if this happened, if he charms Emma away :P

Oooh, that could be an interesting development. Someone to take Kurt's mind off of Finn.

Jenny (narcisse) | 209 comments If you are like me and DVR'd Glee to watch in in peace after the kid is in bed, then you also got cut off before the end because American Idol ran late! I found out that because of this affecting many people, they are reairing it Friday night for those of us who missed the whole episode. :)

Or if you prefer, you can watch it on hulu.com

message 40: by Monica (new)

Monica (imelda85) I just started watching the first season of Glee and I love it! I was in a few plays and musicals during high school, so it really brings back some lovely memories for me! I think that performing on stage during high school with my friends were some of the best times I've ever had!

I'm in a community musical right now, something I've wanted to do for a while but didn't have an opportunity to do in high school or college, and honestly, it's nowhere near as fun as I thought it would be. That's not to say there aren't fun moments, but it seems like most of it is people stressing out, snapping at each other, arguing over who deserves flowers... I can't wait for it to be over and I doubt I'm going to participate again next year.

message 42: by Monica (new)

Monica (imelda85) Aw, that's a bummer, Britt! Wow, who argues over who deserves flowers? People can be so silly sometimes. I was in 9 plays and never once did I receive flowers, and I never have even thought about it or realized it until now! The kids in my class always got along really well, our high school was pretty small, only about 750 kids. Things would get a bit hairy during the last two weeks, we were always scrambling to tie up those last loose ends, but things always turned out well and I was always so sad when the performances were over. I hope your play becomes more enjoyable for you! What musical are you performing? I was in South Pacific, Damn Yankees and a musical comedy that our drama teacher wrote.

message 43: by Britt☮ (last edited Apr 22, 2010 05:16PM) (new)

Britt☮ (genki_bee) Thanks, Monica! We only have two weekends of touring, and we all have work during the week, so I'm sure a lot of it is just stress from trying to get everything done in such a short amount of time. We're doing an original show that some of the cast members wrote combining western fairy tales with a Japanese love story.

message 44: by Britt☮ (last edited Apr 28, 2010 07:37PM) (new)

Britt☮ (genki_bee) Well, the musical is over and I was shocked at how the atmosphere COMPLETELY changed for our final performance. Everything came together, everyone was supportive and encouraging of everyone else... it almost made all the previous stress and drama worth it. Maybe I will do it again next year after all.

Anyway, on to Glee!

*Episode 16 "Home" spoilers*

Well, aside from the return of the amazing Kristen Chenoweth (and Kurt and Mercedes getting to do more solo singing), I was a little disappointed in this episode :( I thought it was kind of... cheesy. Loving yourself for who you are on the inside? An important message, of course, but its delivery just seemed so Disney Channel. I felt that the Finn/Kurt/parent storyline has also been overdone in TV, though I'm relieved it wasn't an entirely happy ending. Finn's acceptance of Kurt's dad was moving, but the fact that Kurt is still wounded adds some depth and makes it a little more realistic.

message 45: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (sjhensley) | 101 comments I agree with you about last night's episode. It was more serious and the music was really old. Of course, I was probably spoiled by the Madonna episode!

message 46: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) I was a bit disappointed in last night's episode, too. I know what you mean about it being kind of cheesy. I hope next week's episode is better!

message 47: by Andi (new)

Andi (A Literal Hottie) (andi_grant) | 4 comments I've got to jump in here because I thought it was brilliant. Sure it was a tear jerker, saddest episode yet, but the singing was so beautiful. the mash-up of One Less Bell to Answer and a House is Not a Home was genius, so very Broadway, I was in Heaven and watched it after the show 3 times in a row...
I am looking for the day Idina sings with Kristin - that will be amazing.
I thought it was cool to let Rachel take a backseat for an episode, I still want to go smack her so she'll snap out of it with Jonathan Groff. OK, enough ranting, I can go on for days about my favorite show

message 48: by Tera, First Chick (new)

Tera | 2564 comments Mod
I agree with you Andi. I was kind of glad that Fin and Rachel took a backseat in the singing department this time around. I just LOVE Kristin I think she is cute as a button and has the voice of an angel. I could watch her all day. I'm glad the producers are smart enough about this show to not always make it about the same two or three people.

message 49: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 209 comments I was glad to see some of the others besides Finn and Rachel also, but I didn't like the episode. It had hardly any of the quirky wit that has made me watch the show in the past, and if it had been the first episode I'd seen, I probably wouldn't watch another one. I was bored most of the time. The only part that made me laugh was when Sue told Mercedes she could probably lose a few pounds just by dropping her attitude.

message 50: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Yeah, I know what you mean, Jenny. I was glad to see an episode that didn't focus on Rachel, but the episode did kind of bore me. I'm used to laughing or at least smiling a lot during most of the episodes, and occasionally even getting a bit teary-eyed, but, despite the appearance by Kristin, this episode felt kind of lacking.
