Are the Vikings the inspiration for the fictional chacters dawarfs? (ignore spelling mistakes)

me and my friend pommy have this never ending argument (fun) because of one of our assignments...
what is it???

Were the fictional character 'Dawarfs' (yes, i think it's spelt wrong :S) inspired by vikins?

Facts:
- they are both bloodthirsty and go into what's (I) called 'rage'
- they were short (have you seen the sizes of there beds?)
- and they created there own weapons including hammers :D

The Vikings were not all short....but you might have a point with the hammers and axes etc...

Then I wonder who the orcs were based on. The Scots? Ha.

My friend (pommy) did an asssignment on them, and they really are quite short.
You should see their beds!!! :D
