If the situation warranted, I would then use 2a.
(edit: woops, meant 1b!)

Agreed. I don't think I have dealt with non-consecutives.

For Example 2, I am specifically working on cleaning up R.L. Stine. Many of his Goosebumps and Fear street books are repackaged and sold as sets, e.g. three or four Goosebumps books that are all vampire-related but not consecutive. Nearly all of the ones I see are following the format of 2a. I will go with that, unless there are objections.

Sure. We're talking about an extra line or so in the existing text about numbering, yes? Start a new thread in the Manual folder, get some text people can agree on, and I can add it this weekend, most likely.

Is this consistent with this ...
I worked my through some of the goosebumps books, and then got confused with the Omnibus editions.
Book Name (Series, #_)
OR
Book Name (First Series Name, #_)(Second Series Name, #_)
However, I have a question regarding books or box sets that contain multiple volumes. My question is which of the following is correct?
Example 1:
1a) Goosebumps Boxed Set #1 (Goosebumps, #1-#4)
OR
1b) Goosebumps Boxed Set #1 (Goosebumps, #1-4)
Example 2:
2a) Goosebumps Monster Edition #1 (Goosebumps, #1, #2, #4)
OR
2b) Goosebumps Monster Edition #1 (Goosebumps, #1, #2, & #4)
Personally I am in favor of 1a and 2a. However, I'm really just looking for consistency.
