Kisholi | 9 comments For example I see lot's of children's books by Ladybird that have no author. The author for these books are listed as "Ladybird" for some and "Ladybird Series" for others.

Is there some accepted way of handling these? Or maybe a naming convention that I'm unaware of?

IMO, just pick one of the two and combine. Between those two, I think "Ladybird Series" is slightly clearer.

Kisholi | 9 comments Thanks Rivka. One more question - is there an easy way of combining authors or do I have to wade through the 77 books by "Ladybird" and edit the author field individually? [wince]

Yes, yes there is! (I'm so glad you asked! I'm wincing at the very notion of doing them each individually!)

Pick the one you want to keep, and copy that verison. Now go to the author you are getting rid of, and edit the author. Paste in the other one, and save. You should get a message that says "That author has been merged with this one" or something like that.

That's it!

(In cases where there is additional author info on one or both profiles, you have to be sure to keep all of it, but that's not the case here.)
