Series you like?

I am currently reading the fifth book in the Phil Rickman series of books about the female vicar (and exorcist!) Merrily Watkins. I feel that I am really getting to know the characters now and really like this series.

I've read the first Larsson and the first two Sigmas, not tried the others though.

The Deptford Trilogy by Robertson Davies. Fifth Business was my favourite of this trilogy.

The Cornish Trilogy also by Robertson Davies. What's Bred in the Bone was my favourite.

When I think series I think fantasy and sci-fi, then I think age group you're aiming for and personality:
For the younger/early teen readers obviously the Harry Potter series does very well.
I would also recommend the different Dragonlance series by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, I find that each of the separate main storyline trilogies gets more advanced/adult as they advance chronologically so much like Harry Potter the series grows up with you.
Another good set of books for early teens is the Everworld series by Katherine Applegate, if you like mythology and pop culture you'll get a good cross-section in this series (admittedly it's a late 90s pop culture that is being referenced so children of the 21st century might not like or get the pop culture side of the books but they're still quite good).
There is of course, The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien, and everyone should read at least The Hobbit and The Silmarillion to go with it in my opinion.
If you're looking to laugh you can't go wrong with Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series or any of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books.
For serious political sci-fi and fantasy there's Frank Herbert's Dune series and George RR Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series (which is the best written series to date in my opinion, it's just not finished yet).
China Mieville's books based in the world of Bas-Lag aren't necessarily a series, but Mieville provides you with a steady stream of politics, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and horror all rolled into one and done very successfully.
There are plenty of other noteworthy series out there, I had to push myself just list these. There's never a lack of good books out there, just a lack of time to read them all.
