Hi,

I've been adding a few - or a lot - of books the last two days and here is the list of things I run into on the way:

The published is wrong - the American amazon page does not give the right German published (but instead the distributor for the USA, I think), it should be "rororo", first published 1951

There are a lot of different editions each of which has it's own entry and which need, I think, to be combined into one entry with many edition.

4. I have combined all as needed except

as Worldcat and amazon are telling me that they are not the same as the others.

5 and 6 - Combined ( not together)

7. Looks like either some one has changed details in the original book info section to Arabic or the original book info is all arabic. I have changed the location to Germany.

8. - Appears to be already combined

Hi! I just added an ebook called "To Kill with Reason" at

and I can't add the cover and I'm not sure if it has an ISBN... I have the pdf version in which one of the slides is the cover, but can't figure out how to get it on Goodreads. And how do I tell if an ebook has an ISBN? I looked on WorldCat but there's no listing for it... Thanks!

Is it the same as this one?

It may not have an ISBN, if it's a limited-release ebook coming directly from the author.

Ok thanks. Actually they are the same... Whoops... I didn't see the other one when I added my version. Now they are combined, but it looks like both editions are the same thing. (The page number discrepancy is because I included the title page and copyright information page as having page numbers and the other edition apparently only counts the actual story.) So how do I combine editions of the same book? I saw a "delete book" button but was afraid to click it because I thought it might delete both editions, not just the one I created. Thanks!

Nope, that's the correct delete link! You just need to make sure that it's combined with the correct edition before you delete it and then everything will shift over -- this is "merging editions" -- when you delete the incorrect edition. (Or I can do it, if you'd rather!)

That's ok, I got it. But I think I messed something up... :( I deleted that edition and my review got merged to the right edition, but when I went back to the book's page, I could still see the other edition. When I clicked on the other edition, I got an error message, so it looks like I deleted the edition but the link to that edition is still there.

Think I have sorted all but 4 as when I do a search on ISBN 5699084452 nothing is appearing - How do you know it is ISBN10 rather then 13.

Also 1 - Can you review and let me know translations to be combined

ISBN 10 has 10 digits as this one does. I have the book here and 5699084452 is the ISBN listed on it, so it has to be ISBN 10, as it has only 10 digits.

About Schätzing:

Everything else is fine.

I'm not sure how it works, but if possible it would make sense to keep the German books as the "main edition", because the books are originally German. I think that should be it.

OK all sorted

Main editions are based on the most rated or shelved (cannot remember which) edition so there is no way to control it as yet, I think it may be on the to do list

Re #2, I kept the middle initials, because they're on another book by what appears to be the same author.

Re #3, I corrected the publisher to Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag (spelling from WorldCat) -- that's what dtv is, yes? And the third link is to the same book as the first. Was there meant to be another?

I just go through the books I own ;) Living in Germany and speaking Russian besides German and English helps a lot. Plus as far as the English books I own goes, I own some nice old edition from the 70ies and 60ies ...

This author's first and last names are reversed for his (only) book, so he does not come up on a normal search:

Hanno tutti ragione
by Sorrentino Paolo [should be Paolo Sorrentino:].

The entry for this book also has the wrong number of pages (should be 320).
