THE WORLD WAR TWO GROUP discussion
Introduction to the WW2 Site - Please Say Hi
Welcome to the group Lawrence, looks like you are bringing some in-depth knowledge of U-boat operations. I'm sure you will find some here interested.
I had the good fortune of interviewing most of the surviving great U-Boat commanders, as well as Baron Burkhard von Mullenheim-Rechberg of the Bismarck.

Hi! I'm Warren Bell.
Warren BellI served 29-years as a Naval Officer, and now am an Author in my retirement. I currently have 4 novels, two of them, Fall Eagle One: A Novel of World War II and Hold Back the Sun: U.S. Asiatic Fleet Vs Japan, are about WW2.
I have always been a history buff and, having grown up during WW2, it has been an especially intriguing subject for me.

Welcome Phaedra, nice to have you join us. We can probably find some good books to recommend. Do you have a particular area of interest?

My book Hold Back the Sun is about the Asiatic Fleet in WW2, and my book Asphalt and Blood: A Novel of Seabees in Vietnam is, obviously, about the Seabees in Vietnam. You might enjoy either or both of them depending on what type of service you had. Thanks, Warren

Welcome Phaedra, please feel free to join in.
Geevee wrote: "Welcome from the UK Warren and please feel free to join in."Thank you, Geevee! You may enjoy my 1st novel: FALL EAGLE ONE which has a storyline about the breaking of the Nazi Enigma code at Bletchley Park during WW2. If you enjoyed the movie The Imitation Game, you would probably find this interesting.
'Aussie Rick' wrote: "Hi Warren and a warm welcome to the group from Australia."Thanks, Rick! Being from "down under," you might enjoy my book Hold Back the Sun. It covers the battles fought by the US, Australian, and Dutch forces trying to defend the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) against the Japanese as the Pacific Islands fell one by one after Pearl Harbor. I'm currently working on the sequel to the book, and I have a couple of blog posts about it that you may find interesting, especially: When Australia Was Under Siege.
Thanks, Warren

Welcome to the group Phaedra. I just joined myself. If you are a WW2 fan, 2 of my 4 historical fiction novels are set in WW2. Hold Back the Sun is set in the Pacific, and FALL EAGLE ONE is set in Europe. I hope that you might give them a look. They are both highly rated on Amazon.com. Thanks, Warren

Welcome Tom, we are pleased you found us. We all know some stuff and we can learn much more too so feel free to join in and post your books and thoughts.
Hello here,My name is Igor, and I come from the Netherlands. I've always had an interest in history, specially the Second World War. Few years ago I started reading books on that subject, starting with Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor. More followed, not too much because I'm a slow reader most too often.
So far I've read more about the German/Russian Eastfront then any other theater of the war, although now that I am seeing a serie about the war I've broaded my 'battles-to-read-about'-list.
That's all for now. :)
