message 4: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 70 comments Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan "What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner." It includes fiction with science fiction, fantasy or horror themes.

got this from urbandictionary.com

Oh, I wasn't sure what I saw. I thought it was a victorian lady with an umbrella. It reminded me of Mary Poppins. When I first saw her though, I thought it was a tree. I have a huge tree across my back.

Sidney Crosby. He may have been 16 in the pic, not sure. He'll be 23 in August though, so totally legal...if not a little gross.
A gal can dream.

I second the statement that you are NOT old, I do however completely understand where the thought process comes from... I feel OLD at 32.

message 32: by Alycia (new)

Alycia LOL. I have a friend who is a few weeks older than I am, we are both 29. She is dreading turning 30. But I could care less.

30 didn't bother me... at all. 31 did.. it was quite strange. Now I'll be 33 in January.. and that just sucks.. But I guess it's better than the alternative.

Not turning 33.. Lol.

message 38: by Alycia (new)

Alycia HAHAHA, yeah, I don't think you have a choice.

Heather (Let's-Go-Pens-We're-Gonna-Take-This-One) Okay...turning 30 was a breeze for me. I just turned 32 (btw, a friend gave me 26 brand-spanking new books for my d-day!!) and this birthday was the hardest one of my life. I was even depressed and had a little cry about it the night before, which I don’t understand because I’m pretty happy with who I am right now.
Kelly, you are hilarious. I love your story and it made me consider this little tidbit:
I would never act on any thoughts that I have about a much younger guy (well, I desperately want a guy who's 4 years younger than me and Jamie was that much younger than Claire, so it's all good), but I have to admit...when I see these beautiful young men around me, I forget that I'm actually an old lady now. I genuinely feel early 20's (cool and totally hip with the “now”) and then am totally mystified as to where the time's gone when I remember how old I really am. I think that’s normal though and healthy; if I went around lamenting about being in my 30’s, I’d be depressed and develop a complex.
I feel like now is the prime time of my life and I’m creating new hobbies for myself because I feel that I’m so comfortable in my skin (finally!!) that I can truly enjoy the little things in life...hence my volunteer time at our local hockey club. Getting out there a couple times a week and letting my hair down can only be a benefit to my social life, private life, self-esteem and general outlook on how everything’s grooving along in my little world, right?

Heather (Let's-Go-Pens-We're-Gonna-Take-This-One) Plant the seed early, Shell. Not sure if Carly stocks up for a bit or if she grabs them all at once.

What exact purpose, if any, doea the Groups bookshelf serve? Anyone know?

Heather (Let's-Go-Pens-We're-Gonna-Take-This-One) No. You're the GR Tech of our duo, not me.

Oh.. well... then... we're screwed..;)

message 47: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) Do you mean the bookshelf for this Group?

If you do, it's where you would shelve books that you read every month - if you do group reads, for example.

Otherwise, if you were to read a book that you thought was fantabulous and wanted all of us to read, you could shelve it on the group bookshelf so everyone could see it right away, rather than having to go through your bookshelves or to search the book by title.
