It was most definitely time for another book by one my favourite authors, Donna Leon...Blood from a Stone: A Commissario Guido Brunetti Mystery.

Stop the presses!!!!!!!!!! I could not continue reading the Yellow Emperor's Cure which I suggested that I was reading. After 70 pages I could not continue. Don't waste your time.

This is an engaging mystery, and even moreso if you like art. New York Journal of Books has a giveaway up:

I really like Linda Fairstein and her Alex Cooper series.

As always rather late to the party, I have just finished Kate Atkinson's Case Histories - a wonderful book. Last night I started A Test of Wills by Charles Todd, which I am enjoying very much so far.
I just finished The Emperor's Tomb by Steve Berry last night and enjoyed it immensely. It's one of my current favourite series and always look forward to the next one.Not sure what to read next, other than The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver, which is the next selection for my face-to-face book club.
I've just finished The Soul Collectors by Chris Mooney. Wow what a ride. I couldn't put it down. The plot does need a huge stretch of the imagination to be believable but my thinking is if I believed 1% of the plot lines in most thrillers I'd never sleep at night! The main character Darby McCormick does have a bit of a superwoman complex but I did find her a likeable character. The plot is based on a cult stealing children going back 50 years but you never really find out why. The conclusion is not very satisfying but it leaves you wanting to know what happens next and what has happened to John Casey. I really hope there is another instalment soon! I have now started Hell Gate by Linda Fairstein an Alex Cooper novel.
Just finished Saharaand added my review. Three star review for the typical hero series. Everything works out. Good guy barely survives and gets payback on the supervillain (hope you didn't think that was a spoiler). If you like the imperilled world and only one man on the planet is up to the task of saving the day, this one is for you. A bit long for this genre for my taste. Probably won't be looking for Cussler's others.
Hey, is there a website where you go get cool sounding names for the stars of these books? Dirk Pitt? and from Alex' post Darby McCormick?
I listened to A is for Alibi last week. I enjoyed it also, I plan on starting the next book this week.Right now, I am reading
.Has anyone read any books from Denise Mina? This is my first so wanted to hear feedback. thanks :)

I'm listening to C is for Corpse by Sue Grafton and really am enjoying the series thus far.

Don't know if there is, but some of us are silly enough to invent character names under the Fun & Games section....

I agree GarnetHill is one of my favorite books and I enjoyed that whole series.
I just finish reading
by Laurien Berenson, it was a good book. I like the Melaine Travis series alot. Now I'm going to start reading
by E.C. Ayres, I hope I will like it.

I put these on my TBR list. They look good!

Wow Marjorie, from my own experience I could have posted this word for word! I have all the Paddy Meehan books but have only read the first so far. Gritty is a very accurate description of her style. I'm interested in the new book though. Anyone know if it's the start of a new series or a standalone?
I finished Book #3 of The Lost Fleet (Courageous) and started on Knighthorse #2 The Mummy Case by J.R. Rain
I recently finished Cold Granite by Stuart MacBride, Full Dark House by Christopher Fowler and Bone Yard by Donna Ball.Donna Ball's book is a lot lighter - a dog finds bone - a big leg bone, like might belong to a human. It is light and a lot of fun and takes place in North Carolina and this series features a dog trainer/search & rescue person and primarily her golden retriever.
I enjoyed the other two so much I have already downloaded the second book in each of those series. Tartan Noir and the craziness of the PCU (Peculiar Crimes Unit).
T. It started out OK with Lisbon, local color, on to China to find the cure for syphilis, but it just became boring. Rather spend my time on something else. It just didn't continue to interest me. I have lots of other books to be read.

Finished The Litigators and despite some mistakes with the Chicago area locations and laws I did enjoy the characters and the story. Now reading Hodejegerne or Headhunters but can't find the correct link.

Just finished this book, I highly recommend it if you like the traditional private eye type mystery. It's mostly 5-star ratings and priced at 99 cents. Well worth the price, in my opinion:
Just finished Death at Gallows Green and it was okay but I think I've lost interest in continuing the series. This morning I started
and I'm really enjoying it.
Havent has time to finish Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin this week, but I just purchased Steven King's new novel... It's burning a proverbial hole in my kindle... Might skip to it this weekend!
I just finished
. I really am enjoying this series. I like Henry and would love to see Kinsey with Jonah. I feel bad about Bobby. I really like the narrator on this book. I started
already.

I am loving Blindsighted, I really should be done by now, but have had several busy days - I will finish it this weekend.
I have also started the Sue Grafton series, I am at book 3, not sure when I will get a chance to continue with the series - I have so many more books ahead of them.

[bookcover:Dirty Work|..." This writer is ridiculously inconsistent in every possible way. I just finished "L.A. Dead", and I found it very disappointing. I'm starting "Cold Paradise". I'm not holding my breath. I keep flipping the pages searching desperately for the same level of writing that was apparent in "Dirt", but, at this point, I'm not holding out much hope. Mr. Woods either wins me with this one, or I don't read another.

I listen to them on lunch, while I'm getting ready for work, on the ride to work, and a little before bed. Plus, the series is addicting! When you start book three, you will love it...so far the best one in the series if you ask me.
You got me hooked. I'm putting a hold on Blindsighted. ;)
Jannene
I agree with your comments about audio. Audio is new for me, have only been doing it since summer. I listen at work, when I don't have to "think". They really help the time fly.
I listen to audiobook while I'm doing house chores. Believe it or not, it makes the time fly faster and less annoying in doing the mundane chores.
I don't think this book belong to mystery, but i'm currently Listening
. The narrators were so good it' like they're right next to you.
Currently I am listening to
by Tana French. Love it so far! Thanks for the heads up on Denise Mina. I am going to try the other series by her.

I think her books have been optioned for a movie.
Murder in the Sentier by Cara Black. #3 in the series. Like it. Loved #2 and this one is following suit....

Diane- whose? Tana French or Denise Mina? I would love to see Tana French book as a movie since it's based in Dublin.

Not being a SA, just curious if there are sub-genres.
