Can I ask why, please? Horrible writing, disgusting content, boring?

This is an engaging mystery, and even moreso if you like art. New York Journal of Books has a giveaway up:

What about Martha Grimes and her Richard Jury series???
What are your thoughts and input??"
I really like Linda Fairstein and her Alex Cooper series.

I read Dark Jenny by him and enjoyed that as well.

I was also surprised by the ending, this was my intro into the series - I have also listened to [book:B is for Burglar|64865] - I think I will continue with the series, someone mentioned that they are a little slow in getting started.

I don't read Mary Higgins Clark consistently, I forget about her for some reason - but I do always enjoy them when I read one.

Not sure what to read next, other than The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver, which is the next selection for my face-to-face book club.

I have now started Hell Gate by Linda Fairstein an Alex Cooper novel.

If you like the imperilled world and only one man on the planet is up to the task of saving the day, this one is for you. A bit long for this genre for my taste. Probably won't be looking for Cussler's others.
Hey, is there a website where you go get cool sounding names for the stars of these books? Dirk Pitt? and from Alex' post Darby McCormick?

Right now, I am reading

Has anyone read any books from Denise Mina? This is my first so wanted to hear feedback. thanks :)

I have Blindsighted on my "wish list" at the library. They have it in audio. Let me know how you like it and I may move it to my holds. ;)
I'm listening to C is for Corpse by Sue Grafton and really am enjoying the series thus far.

Don't know if there is, but some of us are silly enough to invent character names under the Fun & Games section....

I read Mina's "Garnethill" trilogy:

I agree GarnetHill is one of my favorite books and I enjoyed that whole series.

I put these on my TBR list. They look good!

Do tell! I'm trying to build a huge kindle list for an overseas trip. I need all the help I can get, and this one looked promising at a brief glance!

Wow Marjorie, from my own experience I could have posted this word for word! I have all the Paddy Meehan books but have only read the first so far. Gritty is a very accurate description of her style. I'm interested in the new book though. Anyone know if it's the start of a new series or a standalone?

Donna Ball's book is a lot lighter - a dog finds bone - a big leg bone, like might belong to a human. It is light and a lot of fun and takes place in North Carolina and this series features a dog trainer/search & rescue person and primarily her golden retriever.
I enjoyed the other two so much I have already downloaded the second book in each of those series. Tartan Noir and the craziness of the PCU (Peculiar Crimes Unit).

Thanks....just wondering since different things appeal to different people....Probably not enough to get me to try it, so I'll move on to other books, too!

He must have lost my friend's number. A lawyer who used to be in my office was contacted by him years ago, probably 4-5 books ago, for some local color.
Just finished this book, I highly recommend it if you like the traditional private eye type mystery. It's mostly 5-star ratings and priced at 99 cents. Well worth the price, in my opinion:

Diane, how was that one??? I read The Confession this summer and it was excellent!!

I am loving Blindsighted, I really should be done by now, but have had several busy days - I will finish it this weekend.
I have also started the Sue Grafton series, I am at book 3, not sure when I will get a chance to continue with the series - I have so many more books ahead of them.

Wow Jannene, you are moving right along with Sue Grafton!!!!

It's easy when they are audiobooks, Linda. I listen to them on lunch, while I'm getting ready for work, on the ride to work, and a little before bed. Plus, the series is addicting! When you start book three, you will love it...so far the best one in the series if you ask me.
You got me hooked. I'm putting a hold on Blindsighted. ;)
Jannene

Thanks for the heads up on Denise Mina. I am going to try the other series by her.

Diane- whose? Tana French or Denise Mina? I would love to see Tana French book as a movie since it's based in Dublin.

What do you mean by traditional? As opposed to?
Not being a SA, just curious if there are sub-genres.
