Just started Heartsick. First in a series by Chelsea Cain. Really, really good so far. Note: serial killer on the move.

Very good read
It sounded good. I've added it to my Kindle.
Finished up Murder at the Margin. Decided it's time for some D&P, so I'm starting Death's Jest-book by Reginald Hill.
and I pulled out my old copy of By-Line: Ernest Hemingway...1967 selections from his 4 decades in journalism. That man couldn't even report a news story without using fabulous vocabulary and inserting "asides." Delightful short reads. Liam www.terminalpolicy.com
Just started
. It's my first Jack Reacher book (even though it's 11 in the series), but it was loaned to me by a friend. Only a couple of chapters in, but it seems promising!

Twenty seven bones is a great book. I am interested in reading what you think of The Neighbor.
I've just finished Ragtime in Simla by Barbara Cleverly which was interesting, not great, but still entertaining. I should finish The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin tonight and I've quite enjoyed it. Next two books on my list to read will be a reread - On the Beach by Nevil Shute, one of my favourite books and Poisoned Chocolates Case by Anthony Berkeley, who is a new author for me. It looks like it might be interesting.

By-Line Ernest Hemingway: Selected Articles and Dispatches of Four Decades
I recently finished A Farewell to Arms, and was not impressed. It was a great short story about the war that had been padded out with sophmoric junk about his relationship with a nurse. Painful. Will have to try some of those articles and dispatches. Thanks, Liam

I'm hooked on Karen Rose at the moment, I've just read 'You can't hide' and I'm currently about 60 pages into 'Count to Ten'.Both really excellent books.

Although well-written, I just couldn't identify with the spoiled aimless life of the characters.
Barbara wrote: "I'm reading Thirteen Steps Down by Ruth Rendell."I read that this fall; it's 'creepy' Rendell at her best, I think.

Almost done with
. Great book, but then a Crais book usually is! Also reading
. The "In Death" books are great "mind candy" for when I'm deciding what to read next!
jo wrote: "Poisoned Chocolates Case looks interesting "
I agree. I downloaded it to my Kindle and started reading it last night.
I just finished
. It was okay but I expected a bit more from a Jeffery Deaver book. The twists were good but it wasn't as good as some of his others.I'm not sure what to start next! I've got tons of book on my tbr list, confused!

I agree about Roadside Crosses - I liked how it started out but was not amused with the ending. Same with his Burning Wire. I might hold off with his latest, Edge, until it comes out in paperback...
I used to be a huge Deaver fan but I stopped reading him with "The Sleeping Doll". Got so over the top and ridiculous I couldn't finish the book. Haven't read another since.
I am a Deaver fan also. I just watched The Bone Collector on American Movie Classics with Denzel Washington as main actor. I have just finished The Hades Factor by Robert Ludlum.
Finished Reckless by Andrew Gross today and liked it. What should I read next? Coma by Robin Cook or Simple Genius by David Baldacci?
Bk10013 wrote: "Finished Reckless by Andrew Gross today and liked it. What should I read next? Coma by Robin Cook or Simple Genius by David Baldacci?"
I've read both. Baldacci is always good fun and this is one of the better. Coma is the only Cook i've read but i really liked it. Go with the author that you're least familiar.
I kinda liked Coma too, although I read it a century ago. I've never read a Baldacci, so I can't help you there.
Just finished Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales by Stephen King (GREAT dark short stories) and currently reading this club's January read of Tell No One by Harlan Coben (almost done and it is AWESOME - can't wait for the ending)

I think coma is his only book I read of him and read a different Baldacci......Baldacci!
Finished Sword of the Prophet: The Mahdi of Sudan and the Death of General Gordonand now reading Suite Françaisewhich has been going veeeeryyyyy slowfor the first 110 pages.

Poisoned Chocolate Case by Anthony Berkely shows up on quite a few lists of classic golden age mysteries. I read it in an omnibus of short stories from that time period. You will like it!!!!

I had never heard that, but it doesn't surprise me. It was first published in 1929 just as Fascism was spreading internationally and coming to great power.

Just finished Along Came A Spider by James Patterson.Moving on to #2 in the Cross Series called Kiss The Girls.
I'm currently over half way through Killer Weekend by Ridley Pearson. Although its fairly good, I probably won't be reading the rest of the series. Too many other books out there.
Currently reading Heartsick by Chelsea Cain. All I can say is - wow. I love reading series books, and I have just found a new author who writes series.
T wrote: "I wanted Ridley to bring back Lou Holdt and company!"I've not read that series T, but I have Undercurrents in my TBR stash. Maybe I should have started with that series.

Oooh! I read that years ago. That was good.

I'm enjoying Poisoned Chocolates Case so far, interesting format and nicely paced. I think I might have solved it, can't wait to find out.. :0)

I've downloaded the sample. I'll see if I like it.

I agree Cyn. Rendell seems to be able to "channel" the way a stalker/serial killer might think.
Pamela wrote: "Currently reading Heartsick by Chelsea Cain. All I can say is - wow. I'm ambivalent about it, but I still love the series.

I liked The Neighbor very much. I never saw the ending coming.
Currently reading The Lady in Question by Victoria Alexander It is very English.
Just finished
Death on Demand by Carolyn Hart
I will be reading more of this series.
Just finished Elegy for April by Benjamin Black. Actually, I listened to it. It really enjoyed it. The fact that Timothy Dalton narrated didn't hurt matters...I'm now listening to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson. Great book so far, but not as good as The Girl Who Played with Fire.

Benjamin Black (aka John Banville) is a terrific writer. "Christene Falls", "The Silver Swan" and "Elegy For April" are all very good books.
I'm currently reading Kisscut by Karin Slaughter and loving it. Not the first book of hers I've read and just as good as the others.

I've now decided to read them all eventually and in order. Happy reading
