Monica | 75 comments Just finished The Burning Girl by Mark Billingham...I really like this series. I have so many good books from the library sitting right here beside me...but having a hard time narrowing the next book to read down to one. Mystery...or not...that is the question...

message 9302: by Aiesha (new)

Aiesha (bigtexasaj) Just finished Imitation in Death and as with all the other In Death books, it was good!! Not as shocking and twist filled as I would have liked but I just love the characters and the storylines in these books!

Now I will start the next one in the FBI Profiler series, The Next Accident. I fully expect lots of twists and turns in the plot of this one. Lisa Gardner is excellent at the mystery thing!

Dottie...I do love making those choices! My choices are Detective Inspector Huss by Helene Tursten, Stolen Souls by Stuart Neville, The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton, and The Moon Tunnel by Jim Kelly. See my dilemma!

David YB Kaufmann (dybkaufmann) | 4 comments Just started And Be a Villain; about 1/3 through A Murder on the Appian Way; also about 1/3 through Chasing Amanda - this one's intriguing. (The other two are classics - how much recommendation from me do they need?

Rachel would you recommend it val? i've been thinking about trying that author for a while but was thinking of starting with Never Knowing

I LOVED Never Knowing and yes, if you can stand the ick factor, I recommend Still MIssing. Stevens totally understands how to write strong female leads that don't have to be rescued by someone other than themselves.
I am looking forward to her new book -- esp. now that you've told me that it is that psychiatrist. How clever!

message 9313: by Val (new)

Val (valz) | 1542 comments By ick factor, I mean it involves some pretty heavy circumstances in the first half. I will not forget this book.

I did exactly the same thing. I had to push myself to get through the difficult part. New one, not yet out, is ALWAYS WATCHING. There's a giveaway you can enter here on Goodreads. Good luck, except I want to win it.

message 9329: by Curt (new)

Curt | 3 comments I just finished The Devil's Star and found it to be the best so far in the Harry Hole series (I'm not up to date, there are several more recent Hole novels I have yet to read). Some story lines from previous installments were finally resolved, which was pleasing.

As much as I enjoy Nesbo's Harry Hole series, I'm going to change things up with my next book.

I read this not too long ago and really enjoyed it. Liked her prose style and her use of POV. I'll leave it at that, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Melissa Krueger | 23 comments I'm reading Doha 12 and loving it. A very tense spy thriller that modernizes the genre. I recently finished The Geneva Decision and HIGHLY recommend it. The woman in that is like Jane Bond or Bruce Wayne's sister. Excellent read.

Doha 12 by Lance Charnes

The Geneva Decision by Seeley James

(Is leaving the bookcover obnoxious? I like a clickable link when I read comments, not sure if I'm alone on that :)

I was thoroughly enjoying the book until I realised I hadn't turned highlights off on my kindle and some bright spark has highlighted the murderers name....ruined all suspense for me...but I guess lesson learned :(

Hi Melissa. I like the covers too but sometimes if you are looking at Goodreads on the mobile app they don't show up well. Depends on the device, I think. That's why you'll see some people use both the cover and the plain link.

I would rather the book covers because I like to see what the covers look like. However, it wasn't until people pointed out the fact that you couldn't see them on the mobile app and they don't tell you who the author was that I started using both! :-)

Tim Warner | 72 comments I recently read Desert Places by Blake Crouch. I thought it was great. Excellent. Read the follow-up, Locked Doors, which didn't which the same height of excellence, but was okay. I will read the final in the trilogy, but am now reading Richard Hawke "Speak of the Devil." I think it is Very Good. I get ALL my ideas for books to read from here on Goodreads, perusing your lists and hearkening to your comments. Thanks for posting and do not underestimate its worth!!

It was given to me with a "hmm...suggested to be one of the great mysteries of the century...tell me what you think" and I just don't know what I think! I really enjoyed it. Nick Wastnage (nickwastnage) | 32 comments Just finished The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. Not a crime book, although a lot of hilarious crime was committed. Such a good, feel-good read. Read it in one sitting flying to Australia, but that's a hell of a long flight.
Now starting on Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan.
