Sharon Michael | 674 comments Just finished the second book in a new series by a new to me author. Got the first as a free download West of Westernand the minute I finished I went looking for the second Along the Ravenswoodand started that immediately.

That doesn't happen too often for me but really like what this author does with her characters, a very deft touch between tough but not aggressive and a very believable not-police/not-P.I. female investigator.

Suzy Taylor | 16 comments I finished reading a book I last read twenty years ago, “Watchers” by Dean Koontz. I believe my intense love for animals began after I first read that book. A movie was made from the book, but the movie was so different, I didn’t care for it at all.
I also read, "A Miracle For Charlie", by Carolann Hays...it's a short story, and I loved it. I am following her very closely, and have read everything she has written so far. I can't wait for her next book.

I was pleased with this book and liked it much more than the previous one I read-Last Coyote. Like the new captain, Grace Billets and was surprised about the return of Harry's former girlfriend. Taking a break from Harry for now as I am currently reading a book in response to a challenge in another group.

JB Rowley (jbrowley) I have just finished listening to Let The Dead Lie Let The Dead Lie (Detective Emmanuel Cooper, #2) by Malla Nunn . A story well told. It is narrated by Humphrey Bower. I have listened to him narrating Australian books and always been a bit distracted by his accent; he sounds like an Australian putting on an Australian accent! (A bit too much Vegemite on the sandwich, mate.) However, his narration of Let the Dead Lie was nothing short of brilliant. He switched effortlessly from one accent to the next and presented the story beautifully.

Hi Jannene. I did enjoy it but you have to remember it was written about 20 years ago so there are a few things that are out of date. Still the characters and the setting are very interesting. I'll check out some of the more recent ones in the series.
