Currently Reading? Just Finished?

I just finished the latest Jack Reacher " A Good Man" and continue to enjoy all the books up until the last few. There seems to be a pattern of wrapping up a complicated plot in quick time. I forced myself to finish the last five pages, yawning and eyes watering. The end was just a bore. Is anyone else having this problem with what started as a great series now being pumped out pretty quickly?
Diane wrote: "I now have trouble reading Reacher, because I picture Tom Cruise who I dislike immensely."This will be an interesting shoot. Is he going to stand on a box or is everyone else required to be shorter (and flats only ladies). This has some career-opening possibilities for the shorter actors and actresses. I love it when books I love become movies I love (To Kill A Mockingbird, the first Harry Potter). I don't have much hope for Reacher; did Lincoln Child agree?

and enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down but was saddened by the ending."Like a lot of other authors, I like the older books better, but that's not to say Reichs goes as far as Cornwell in my dislike of the newer books....See what you think, are you reading them in order?
Diane wrote: "I now have trouble reading Reacher, because I picture Tom Cruise who I dislike immensely."Yes. Didn't they ask Harrison Ford!!!
I have just finished listening to Arthur Upfield's
It was a good yarn with a strong sense of place. I was enjoying the historical elements and coincidentally read this article in the Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/...
about how we can explore history through fictional detectives.
I love all the Jack Reacher books, but casting Tom Cruise was a big mistake. As someone on Twitter said, Reacher is 6'5, not 5'6!
Reading Target: Tinos, and like it so far. Easy to relate to the geographic and political setting...and the problems of a smaller country who both feels they need to remain a part of EU and be available for aid as needed, and the public relations questions after a rather nasty and questionable crime has come up....

It's a first person narrative; the husband of a psychologist convicted of killing her serial killer patient goes through his wife's files to help craft an appeal. The book was just okay for me - it kept my interest but I didn't love the characters or the finale. I gave it 3 stars. However I have to say other people seem to really like the book - which was why I read it.
Currently ☊ The Sins of the Fathers by Lawrence Block, the first book in the Matthew Scudder series.
I finished Dark Magic by James Swain. It's probably my least favorite book by him. I'll give it three stars. I'm now reading The Racketeer by John Grisham
I am into mystery classic at the moment: The Innocence of Father Brown and The Wisdom Of Father Brown. I read them a long time ago, it is nice to visit these books again.
Currently reading Open Season , by Archer Mayor I like his style of writing my only complaint so far is that his premises is to complicated and not as believable. His description of the characters his scenes and locations are very good Open Season

I have been reading them in order and so far haven't found one that I disliked.

I read Prey on Patmos: An Inspector Kaldis Mystery some time ago and enjoyed it. I also had a chance to met Jeffrey Siger at an author event and he definitely knows Greece.

Mmm! That's why I read The End of the Wasp Season, because others liked it...maybe I won't read anymore of hers. Thanks Barbara:)
I finished The Racketeer by John Grisham. Another great read though I didn't like it as much as The Litigators or The Confession

Now I just finished
. This book reads like a movie script- too much info, too many people. Catherine McLeod is the Detective on a Drug case. Plot meanders and shifts around, and is somewhat slow at first. The best part of the book is the relationship between Jasmine Sharp and a man her Uncle who is now missing had visited.Look for the last four words of the book. I give it
3 stars. The last 100 pages make it worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the comment. I intend to read more of this author and your comment surely put a "thumbs up" on it for me.
Am reading The Sadness of the Samurai by Victor Del Arbol. This is the first of his books to be translated, I understand. It's set during the Spanish civil war and after. I thought I'd just get it started this morning before going on to what I need to do. But as it turns out, I reluctantly put it down on page 136. It is a thriller and extremes are the order of the day, well described and integrated into the narrative. It's not a mystery as such, but has several mysteries involved as part of the action packed setting. Think it may end up with four or five stars from me.
I read The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver this past week. I'd not yet read a Kathryn Dance book, and I enjoyed it. It definitely had some twists and turns I didn't see coming.

I think he would feel he's too old, though he would be perfect. It could be a Bond-type series but for Cruise. In today's world, is there any actor who would be perfect? Bruce Willis, Tommy Lee Jones, Denzel Washington (no reason Reacher couldn't be black), but not Tom Cruise.
I have just finished The Great Tax Bashing Swindle, which was written by a colleague at work.http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Great-Tax...
Here is a link to amazon uk's page if anybody wants to read it.

Liam Neeson would be perfect too! I loved him in the movie Taken and Taken 2.
The Secret KeeperThis is Kate Morton's fourth book. Maybe I was anticipating too much, but it took me a while to get into it. In hindsight, it's a great plot, lots of twists and turns. All of her books are like that, but the first three had me at the first page. Maybe my brain wasn't in the right mode. Once I understood more of where the book was going I enjoyed it, just not as much as I expected to.
Just finished The Duplicata and gave it 5 stars ... for a book set with the race car scene, which I have no interest in at all. I'm still shaking my head a bit over this. A first book for this author and I thought particularly well written.
Have just started Vision of Life by Judith Markle Riley. Not very far in yet, but it is holding my attention quite easily.
Just finished Broken by Karin Slaughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt that it marked the very end of the Grant County series rather than a continuation of the Will Trent series. I couldn't bring myself to read the last Grant County novel for reasons that those of you who have read it will understand. I have now started Never Look Away: A Thriller by Linwood Barclay and I'm already hooked!
I finished Grave Goods by Ariana Franklin this morning. Excellent historical mystery. This is the 3rd book in the Mistress of the Art of Death books and it continues the trend of excellent characterizations and story writing. (4 stars) I'm continuing to read One More River by Nicolas Freeling and so far finding it kind of a meandering mystery that I wish would come to grips with the plot. I'm about to start In the Presence of Mine Enemies an alternate history by Harry Turtledove.

I agree with you that her Paris knowledge and enthusiastic shadings are her real forte. Aime LeDuc wears very thin. I did enjoy the series, but could have much more.
