Re-reading Mystic River by Dennis Lehane for third time. I love his voice and it helps me with my own writing. The line between omniscient and third limited is so narrow. I see he has a new book out-- will definitely be getting it.
I'm having a ton of fun reading works authors have offered for me to consider recommending for the Bram Stoker awards and I found a new author I love! Billie Sue Mosiman (and a new kind of book - the novella!)Just read her Prison Planet and Mourning Mansion. Both stayed with me - one as disturbing and one as a tragic time in our world that could come to be. She crafted the characters well for such a short space of time too. These are characterized as horror but I wouldnt have thought of them in that regard - not 'classic horror' with strange beings and gore. More like a Farenheit 451 feel.
Just finished Killing Hour also known as Eyes Wide Open by Andrew Gross I much prefer his Ty Hauck novels. This stand alone left me thinking 'and the point is.....'.
Finished Poison Study - Maria V. Snyder this morning in the bath and have just finished a review of Morningside - Ashley Madau. Now I'm going to dip into Succubus Revealed - Richelle Mead as well as reading Reflected in You - Sylvia Day.
Currently reading:
Gone Girl: A NovelPicked up free on Kindle today:
Castle Cay (Julie O'Hara Mystery Series)
I have just finished Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House
- audio book. It was a good 'read' but I was disappointed that the sub plot was so similar to Agatha Raisin and the Day the Floods Came. The love interest character was similar as well(and rather boring). However, I will try a couple more of the Agatha Raisin series; the narration by Penelope Keith is enough to keep me going back.

hello all good to join you. Thanks to Pat for my brand new Kindle! Put it to good use and got lucky with a recommendation. Just read Kiss and Tell by TJ Cooke. A really inventive crime firction read which would appeal outside the genre too. Have reviewed. Next read is a Jessie Kean novel which I expect will be very different.
I finished Loaded Dice by James Swain. I'll give it three stars. I'm currently reading Indigo Slam by Robert Crais
Finished Mystic River, again, and now diving into Live By Night. Hmm. I'll have to get through it all, but so far, slow going.
I just finished reading for the second time, Stephen King's, The Stand, one of my favorites. I'm a thriller/suspense junkie, and I love to reread the classics in that genre.
Suzy wrote: "I just finished reading for the second time, Stephen King's, The Stand, one of my favorites. I'm a thriller/suspense junkie, and I love to reread the classics in that genre."One of my favourites too, Suzy. I've read a couple of times at least.
I just finished reading
by Estelle Ryan. I loved, loved, loved it! Next on my list is Jo Nesbo's The Redbreast

I finished A Darkness More Than Night by Michael Connelly. (Former) FBI profiler Terry McCaleb and detective Harry Bosch get involved in a twisty investigation.

The Redbreast is the only Nesbo novel I've read so far but I quite enjoyed. Hope you find it as interesting.

So do I. One of my fav series to read.
Just finished listening to Long Gone by Alafair Burke. Very good, both the story and the narration. Twists and turns to the very, very end.
Just in time for Samhain - the Celtic New Year - Storm Damage- some fine stories of ghosts and witches.
Am into Prophecy now, by S.J. Parris. And so far I am liking it quite well. It is more follow up with Giordono Bruno in 16th century England, alot of same characters take part.
I'm currently reading The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference and The Tinder Box, a novella from Minette Walters.
I finished The Second Opinion by Michael Palmer. I learned a lot about Asperger's syndrome (which the main character had) but the story was kind of predictable. 3 stars for me.
just finished
great read with family history and modern crime mixed up.am now reading
which continues the Joe Sandilands series in India in the 1920's - this one is even better than the first in my opinion
Finally finished The Boy in the Suitcase. Very interesting and with an ending not at all what you might expect from the title. The plight of immigrants in their own countries or new countries was subtly woven in a page turning thriller. I will say the beginning was slightly confusing jumping from place to place and it took a bit to see the threads and motivations start to come together but ultimately there was a satisfactory - and very surprising ending.
I had the good fortune to meet both authors just last evening at our local bookstore and the conversation was enlightening. I look forward to the next book from them and more on the changing face of Europe.

I'm reading "Altered Innocence" by Carolann Hays, and I can't put the book down. I love it so far. I found it on Amazon, it's a Kindle edition.http://www.amazon.com/Carolann-Hays/e...
Jan C wrote: "Just finished The Crossing Places. "This one ended up being a favorite of mine when I read it but unfortunately, I haven't cared much for the way the main character developed in subsequent books.
I wrapped up Indigo Slam by Robert Crais. I'm now reading Suspect by Michael Robotham. Really slow book.
I am reading
which I am finding most interesting. Love Mary Russell. Sherlock Holmes is flitting in and out of this one as their relationship is getting more scrutinized by both of them.(We all know what this isleading to, so I take it as a bit of humor!)The subject matter is interesting, 3 possible murders, an accident involving one of Mary's friends, Lady Veronica Beaconship, a medium, and a study of religion, jewish faith. Laurie R. King is excellent
in this field. I like her books as they are always
new and fresh, but maintain the tone of Sherlock
stories.
