I finished
this morning and enjoyed very much, a suitable sequel to Pillars of the Earth. I'm about half way through
and enjoying, even though I'm still trying to figure out what the heck is going on.. ;0). Just about to start
by Vikas Swarup, the second book by the author of Slum Dog Millionaire.
I am currently reading Blake Crouch's new novel Pines. It is excellent! I am a huge fan of Blake's work, by the way, so if you are looking for something new and you have not heard of him, also check out his novel Run.

I loved Q & A, the original book title for what became Slumdog Millionaire: The Shooting Script, but I haven't gotten around to reading Six Suspects yet.
Not intending to be the skunk at the picnic, but I just need to say that the reason I don't come to this thread anymore is because people post thumbnails of their books instead of linking to the titles. I'm not going to hover my mouse over every thumbnail in order to see what your title is; and hovering over thumbnails doesn't tell you who the author is.Having said that....I just finished Innocent Blood by P.D. James. Very well written, although very, very bleak.

Have never heard of this one Penny.
Diane wrote: "Started Creole Belle and I just love the way he writes. Clete is a great character as well."Clete is one of my all-time favorite characters in literature. Glad to find another fan.

I look at a lot of this on my phone and I can't tell what the book is.
I just finished
. I enjoyed this book which was written by Stephen King's son.I am currently reading
.

Love to hear what you think about Dark Places. I am planning on reading it soon."
i have mixed feelings about this book- gave it 3 stars-would have given it 3 1/2 stars if i could
it's a compelling story with unforgettable characters-the reason for the lower rating is that parts of this book were so disturbing that i had a hard time reading some of the chapters.
i'd love to hear your thoughts on this book after you've read it
Recently finished Dark Prairies by Rob Guthrie. Great book if you like well written thrillers with well drawn characters. Currently reading an unpublished book for a friend and giving chapter by chapter feedback. Bit hard going, but what are friends for?

I never read Q&A Barb, but did enjoy the movie very much. I have no expectations starting Six Suspects, so I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how I like Swarup's writing style. Will let you know what I think. :0)
Just downloaded Gone Girl on to my Kindle today. It took two months for it to become available at my library!

I was disappointed with the ending. I won't spoil it, but I was really loving the book until the reveal of the supposed antagonist, and what he was ultimately striving to accomplish.

Catherine wrote: "Just downloaded Gone Girl on to my Kindle today. It took two months for it to become available at my library!"I'm 18 on my library list, I should be reading it in a year. Lol
Jan C wrote: "Lobstergirl wrote: "Not intending to be the skunk at the picnic, but I just need to say that the reason I don't come to this thread anymore is because people post thumbnails of their books instead ..."The thumbnails and links don't work on my mobile Goodreads app, I have to go to the regular site to read them.
It is for a very old friend's daughter & I feel obliged. Couldn't afford to do this for everyone. But love to help & learn from others & of course any involvement with books & writing is a labour of love :)
Finished reading The Secret Warriors by W.E.B. Griffin. Review link at http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/....Started reading The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver
Finished The Maltese Falcon yesterday afternoon, just in time for the book club discussion! I didn't like it as much as I did the first time I read it, several years ago. Next up, on audio, is Eye Of The Storm, the first in the Sean Dillon series by Jack Higgins.
I've given up on Lifeblood - J. Przymus for now and now reading The Ghost Rock Cafe - Chinle Miller.

would love to hear what you think of The Sleeping Doll- i've never read deaver before but that book is on my to read list
Diane wrote: "Are you going to read this Jennifer or have you already?"I have it but haven't read it yet. Can't wait though!
Wrapped up a few books recently. I listened to The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag read by Jayne Entwistle and thoroughly enjoyed both the story and the reading. I'm currently listening to Ruth Rendell's short story collection The Copper Peacock and Other Stories read by one of my favorite British actresses, Penelope Keith.
I've also read Snow Blind and the historical fiction, Doc. Both good reads if very different types of books.
Now on to Sidney Chambers and the Shadow of Death and Jade Lady Burning for my in person book group.

Thanks. I could definitely see her writing being too dark and really bothering a person. I am going to be reading it in October with a few people here and possibly a co-worker. I will keep you posted on my thoughts.
I finished Kisscut, the second in Karin Slaughter's Grant County Series. I really liked it. I can't wait to continue with the series.
Vicki wrote: "I finished Kisscut, the second in Karin Slaughter's Grant County Series. I really liked it. I can't wait to continue with the series."I like this series too, I'm up to the fourth book next.

Don't know why or who started that and why they thought it was clever but it's a pain for all the reasons you stated.
Well said and I agree.
This morning I finished The Ghost Rock Cafe - Chinle Miller. Now I think I will read Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins.
Just finished Killer Instinctby Zoë Sharp. Very impressed and would highly recommend. This is the first in the series about Charlie Fox an ex-army and now self defence teacher. It's good to find another strong female lead character in the world of crime/thriller writing.
Just started The Chapel in the Woods by Susan Louineau. This is a story set in France in three different periods in time. I'm only three chapters in but already the simple but effective writing style of the author has drawn me in. I'm told all stories collide at some point uncovering a mystery. Will keep you posted. Also still wading through a friends book and giving in depth feedback.
I'm reading The Leopard byJo Nesbø - one of those Scandinavian mysteries that are so popular. It's very good so far.
The Past Never Ends by Goodreads author Jackson Burnett. Very good read and mystery. I love mysteries.
Started on Everybody Pays: Stories a download from the library. I am definitely a Vachss fan but I can't read them often, he is brilliant but grim.
Sunday morning, I finished Thirty-Three Teeth by Colin Cotterill. And this morning there's a headline about an escaped tiger in Germany. That's NOT a spoiler, just a wierd coincidence. It's not only a good story, Colin Cotterill has a way with a phrase--and chapter titles.Last night I started Hailey's War and couldn't remember why I had requested it from library. By 2 AM I still couldn't remember, but now I'm hooked.
