Currently Reading? Just Finished?
love john sandfords!i just started "in the woods" last night.
found joseph finder's "vanished" today, too...
I finished The Murder Room: The Heirs of Sherlock Holmes Gather to Solve the World's Most Perplexing Cold Cases. The subject matter is fascinating, the cases absorbing. The writing itself could have been a bit more organized, but overall I loved it. I'm now starting The Widower's Tale by Julia Glass, which I managed to snag early at my local B&N.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R2DQEZ0M...link to Mike Draper's review of "Innocent" by Scott Turow.
check it out and please indicate that the amazon review was helpful.
I finished Wormwood and I enjoyed it so much better than the previous book. I am so happy that Wormwood was a good read. I really like the China Bayles mysteries and I was about to give up on them after reading the previous book. Albert's back to writing about mysteries and herbs. Yay!

Hi Andrea. Glad you could join us. I haven't read anything by Michael Connelly yet but he is on my TBR pile and I have heard very good things about him.

Lobstergirl wrote: "I just started Last Seen Wearing."Really liked Last Seen Wearing. Now I'm reading Acqua Alta.
I just finished The Mistress Of Nothing by Kate Pullinger. It's not a mystery/thriller and was a book club read. I gave it 4 stars but would have given 4 1/2 if it was possible. I recommend this for anyone who wants to break out of the mystery/thriller genre.
Just started Three Stations by Martin Cruz Smith. It's slow going at first but I've really liked his other books.
Barbara wrote: "Dorie wrote: "I've started The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag. Loved the first one and the character of Flavia."I've got that one out of the library and will be reading it so..."
I liked both books very much. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Finished Hell Gate a couple of days ago. Currently bouncing among The Children's Book, Drood, and Book of Shadows.
Hi, I'm new to the group. Just finished "The Resurrectionist," which was fantastic. I felt wide-eyed and absorbed unlike I've felt reading something in months. The author is wonderful. The story is both horrific and beautiful. Highly recommend it.
Hi Deborah and welcome! It's great when a book clicks, isn't it?
Deborah wrote: "Hi, I'm new to the group. Just finished "The Resurrectionist," which was fantastic. I felt wide-eyed and absorbed unlike I've felt reading something in months. Welcome Deborah. I hope you will find lots of absorbing books here.

Thanks for the shorthand, by the way.
Was going to wait until tomorrow to see if my book was in at my library yet, but what the heck -NRThe Big Sleep
(It's short enough.)
Finally finished with The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson... Didn't like it as much as the first two books... Currently reading 4th of July by James Patterson.. enjoying it so far
Blazing through The Miernik Dossier by Charles McCarry. Set in 1959, it's an espionage novel about several male and female covert agents from different countries who go on a road trip in a massive Cadillac from Switzerland to Central Europe and south to the Middle East, trying to keep their cover all the while. It's unlike anything I've read.
McCarry's been totally overlooked and is a great writer, in the same league as Le Carré or Graham Greene in the espionage/mystery genres, if not better. Most of his books feature an American spy named Paul Christopher. Great characters. Good stuff.

Blazing, eh? I read about half of it and then put it aside. It was good, but I got distracted.
I finished a re-read of Pegasus Descending: A Dave Robicheaux Novel by James Lee Burke. Enjoyed it again Sometimes you need to read something you don't have to think about too much!
Donna wrote: "Hi K.B. Sometimes you just need "brain candy"."True, but I expect to enjoy my brain candy.

check out my review of this author who has been compared to Vonnegut
Lobstergirl wrote: "I wasn't crazy about Acqua Alta. Now I'm reading Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy."Just finished this. I highly recommend it. It started slowly, and you have to read it carefully - it's dense with information that you'll need at subsequent points in the book. Once I reached about the 2/3 point, I couldn't put it down.
One of my absolute favorites this year..."Finding Nouf,"
Murder, mystery and major interesting story with detectives in the traditions of Islam. I was fascinated with the story and learning more about how Islam effects the everyday lives of the Saudi's today, and how they are incorporating modern ways into ancient religious practices.

Thanks Deborah. That looks really interesting.

Yes, that does look interesting! I've had City of Veils waiting for me since it came out last spring and didn't realize it was part two in a series. So I'll make it a RIO after all - thanks!
I'm reading The Angel's Game which is excellent but it won't let me rush through so I keep having to put it down every dozen or so pages. That wasn't what I needed this weekend so I started The Cradle Will Fall which is so much better than any of the other 'light' novels I have had the misfortune to read recently.
