I just got a copy of this the other day. I will start reading it as soon as I finish my current novel. I've heard nothing but great things about this one, so I can't wait to read if for myself. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Max F | 371 comments Just finished The Wolves of Fairmount Park by Dennis Tafoya - a gritty crime novel that takes place in Philadelphia. Solid story with good characters, good dialogue and excellent descriptions and mood settings. Very well done, and I want to read his first novel now.

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) | 1296 comments Started The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz. I'm not impressed so far. Written in a style for middle school readers. Pretty horrible for a restart on the Sherlock Holmes series official Doyle family approved book.

message 6224: by Alex (new)

Alex (alexe11) | 74 comments Reading The Rome Prophecy by Jon Trace not a bad book but I am getting a little bored with it. Might be because I started it straight after reading The Venice Conspiracy which I thoroughly enjoyed. This one isn't nearly as good or dramatic. The ex priest angle was novel in the first book but doesn't have nearly as much impact in the second book. Can't wait to finish and move on to Bleed for Me the next book on my shelf!

I'm exactly 50% through 'Bleed For Me' and enjoying it. One of Robotham's better efforts I think. I don't seem to have enough hours in the day to read as much as I would like or else I'd probably read it straight through.

message 6227: by Mark (new)

Mark I'm reading Matthew Dunn's Spycatcher (which I believe is titled Spartan in the UK). Enjoyable James Bond style stuff. If it ends well I think I'll be adding him to my list of regulars.

Funny you mention that. I read mostly vintage mysteries, and therefore I haven't really read that many mysteries that delved very deep into the technological aspect. Your question piqued my interest, though, and a quick search on Amazon turned up a list of books that look like they might fit the bill. Looks like my "wish list" just got a little bit longer. :)

Tim Warner | 72 comments just finished The Violet Hour by Richard Montanari now back to The Blue Edge Of Midnight (Max Freeman, #1) by Jonathon King

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) | 1296 comments Jonathon - there is a podcast by a guy called 'Security Now' by Steve Gibson. You can get it through ITunes. The real reason I mention him, though, is that he has an occasional science fiction novel recommendation. I think if you go on hs website, you might find somewhere a list of recommended reads. I found them all excellent. One was 'Daemon' by Daniel Suarez. The next in the series is 'Freedom'. He also recommended The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell (this was an ick for me) and Helfort's War series by Graham Sharp Paul (another ick for me). I recommend even the ick ones because I'm a 58 year old female and not a young male nerd. These series are very popular in the male nerd world, I guess. I DID love the Daemon series!

Brandon Once I'm through with Harry Potter and jack Ketchum, I plan to go through the whole of the Millennium series. I've already read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, though I think I'll read it again.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson by Stieg Larsson Stieg Larsson

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) | 1296 comments Reading the Sword-Edged Blonde, a genre crossing quick read. It is a sword fantasy featuring a Bogart (famous Hollywood 1940's movie star) style private detective. I like it. It's by Alex Bledsoe.

message 6238: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm reading Rain Fall (John Rain, #1) by Barry Eisler . I'm never crazy about books with assassins as main characters so I was wondering how the author was going to bring this about. It started a bit slow but it's going really well now and I'm really enjoying learning more about Japanese culture (book is set in Tokyo.)

This is a really good book to listen to in audio because there are some tidbits of Japanese and listening to them is definitely better to get into the whole plot.

I am about 200 pages into another Swedish psychological thriller
The Hypnotist: A Novelwhich is very dark about a young boy filled with so much rage that he commits acts upon his family as well as himself.
I thought to myself "Wow there must be a lot of violence in Sweden" but today I picked up our local
paper and a young man slashed and shot his father
and cut his mother with his father's collection of knives. Total surprise as this was reality similar to the fiction I was reading. Scares me! What is happening out there?
The book is good, intense, plot twists. I am anxious to see how it ends. Hope there is some
hope in its resolution.

message 6244: by Tim (new)

Tim Warner | 72 comments Tried to get into The Blue Edge Of Midnight (Max Freeman, #1) by Jonathon King based on good reviews and pumped up author ratings... too many days of only four or five pages. I will suspend and start Shadow Man (Smoky Barrett, #1) by Cody McFadyen which also comes highly rated. If I don't like it I am going to have to go back to Crais or another of my favorites. Unfortunately my library system doesn't carry all of Richard Montanari's books. I am currently enjoying his crime series - those available.

That sounds really scary! :) But I put it in my WL at the library so I'll get it one of these days.
