I just finished reading The Gestalt Man by Anthony E. Cardenas.
It's book 1 in the trilogy. The MC was a FBI agent who hosted 5 personalities. It's kind of funny to see how he worked and talked and lived with his other personalities.
The mystery is good - solving some serial murder cases. You won't find a silent moment reading the book, you will have the feeling that you were at a party the whole time. LOL.

Just finished The Blue Hour by T Jefferson Parker. Whew! Superb. This is as good as it can get and remain within the genre, without moving up to a more "legitimate" or higher level of literature.I am starting my next Montanari... Rosary girls.

The thrift stores here sell them for 50 cents and then on the last Tuesday of the month they are 25 cents. It is hard to pass them by at that point!!! My husband clearly doesn't understand.

Ihave never read Reichs either. May try her next.Just finished Gail Bowen, highly recommend her. She knows how to weave a plot and you end up loving her main character Joanne as she is so, well so real? also i don't know the end before it happens, full of surpises.
Anyone read McCall-Smith's Isabel Dalhousie series? i have tried to get into this series but I just can't connect with the ultra rich philosophical Dalhousie
I've read all the Reichs books I think and like a lot of the series authors, I tend to like the older books in the series better - more tension and watching the characters evolve, I guess. I'm kind of a diehard and still read those that are getting a little stale, perhaps in the hopes that there's a revival or new twist that will engage me again.

It's so hard not to! There are so many new and interesting books that I want to read. The problem with my physical TBR is that I bought the books in the span of about 5 years. I might have been interested in something then, but not now. Some of them were gifts or I "borrowed" them from people, so that doesn't help either.

Yesterday, I started Christine Falls by Benjamin Black,(the pseudonym for John Banville) and I read about 80 or 90 pages in a blink. I'm really enjoying it. It's about a pathologist in 1950s Dublin stumbling into investigating the suspicious death of a young woman, Christine Falls. Very atmospheric and vivid writing.
So, now I'm working on three books: Birdman, The Informationist, and Murder With Peacocks because, after getting a third of the way through the phenomenal but very dark and twisty Mo Hayder book I required a little levity to balance things out a bit, plus, the Andrews book will allow me to add Virginia to the "50 State Challenge". Heaven only knows, I need all of the help I can get with that!

Hi Evelyn, I haven't been able to get into the Isable Dalhousie books either but I have enjoyed several of the Scotland Street series.

Hi Cathleen, I read Christine Falls with my in person group a while back and really enjoyed it. Not your typical mystery. Great writing and atmosphere. I read The Silver Swan, the next in the series, and I think there are now 2 more.

I recently read When Will There Be Good News?, the third in Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie series. Not traditional crime fiction, but I like Atkinson's writing a lot.

I finished Birdman a couple of hours ago, and o'M'GAWSH!!!!!!! (laughing) Wow, and this was her FIRST novel? Hello? Jimminy Cricket on a stick!!!!! Truly twisty, disturbing and very nicely done. Perhaps I should have dropped out of school at fifteen, then proceeded to work a multitude of jobs all over the world, and, at some point, gone back to school. Would I have been able to write like this girl... (sigh). Nahhhh. Bottom line, some people just have "it". I haven't read Started Early, Took My Dog as yet. I've heard it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so ideally I'd like the next book in the series to be out before I read it. However, I don't really see myself holding out for that long!

just finished Believing The Lie by Elizabeth George. I am a huge fan of Inspector Lynley - I'm still not sure what to make of this book.

Huh. I adore this series; find Isabel very simpatico. Different tastes, yes? (I do think I would not have been so fond of her when I was younger,)

I've never read Kathy Reichs, as well. There's just so many good authors in this genre I've yet to try...makes my head hurt. (laughing)
