Hi Tay, and yes, this is a trilogy.
Just finished
, not happy I have to wait a year for the next book...And I just started
yesterday and so far it's really interesting and fun
I have just finished and really enjoyed the first Edmund Crispin Gervase Fen mystery The Case of the Gilded Fly. I love Golden Age crime and this didn't disappoint.Next I am going to read The Confession by John Grisham.
I'm almost done with Perfect Victims: Slaughter, Sensation and Serial Killers: An American Criminal Odyssey. It is definitely interesting, but I certainly do not share a lot of the author's opinions and I would have preferred if the entire thing had focussed on serial killers. I have no interest in hearing about political crimes, or murder for money.
Just finished The Detachment, my first Barry Eisler read. I thought it was superb. Torrid pace, very authentic, and an fine literary flavor to the prose. On to Prime Time, by my Boston homey friend, Hank Ryan. Fifty pages in, and it already stands above a lot of the cozies I've read lately.

It's so fun to see what everyone's reading -- I'm new and it makes me need to double my reading budget. Just finished The Fencing Master by Arturo Perez Reverte. Very serious historical piece with a mystery. Really enjoyed the character development and the 19th Century and degrading politics of Madrid, Spain that were the backdrop. I'm starting January Kills Me by Evan Katy seems like a humor read lite so far.
I liked The Fencing Master too, Denise. Welcome to the group and hang on to your TBR! (and your wallet, lol)

Loved The Fencing Masterit was the first book I read with my in person book group and is still one of my favorites. Welcome to the group.

I just finished
. I enjoyed this book. The background of Kinsey's first marriage was a twist. I felt sad at the end but love how she ties everything up in a bow. There is no guessing what happened.

I've just finished The Girl Who Played With Fire and I've just started Tokyo - its quite a slow book but theres been some good ratings so I'm going to stick with it
Now reading Stealing the Elf-King's Roseswhich by the title would be strictly fantasy but on reading is police procedural with an urban fantasy touch. The first part really hooked me but have gotten into a slower section, more technical and political/big business investigation wo will see how it goes.
I just started reading
by Carol Higgins Clark, I like the Regan Reilly series, its one of my favs series.
I finished The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher: A Shocking Murder and the Undoing of a Great Victorian Detective, and I REALLY liked (appreciated?) it. Now I'm reading How To Think Like a Neandertal, which I bought by mistake on my Kindle when I thought I was downloading a sample. Luckily, I am finding it absolutely fascinating. Then again, before the travesty that was The Land of Painted Caves, I had a serious love of the Earth's Children series. So maybe it's not a surprise that I'd find How to Think Like a Neandertal fascinating.

I have no idea why there was such a long wait at the library for this book! But finally I'm reading another Peter Robinson book...Playing With Fire. So far it's as great as the other books in the Alan Banks series.
I just finished
by Tess Gerritsen. I read the first with a Goodreads group and decided to continue the series. I thought the second book was even better than the first, and I can hardly wait for the third.

I just put the finishing touches on my review of the mystery/thriller Stalin’s Ghost by Martin Cruz Smith. It’s part of the Arkady Renko series set in Moscow, Russia where the specter of the long-dead dictator still looms over both the political landscape and the psyche of the Russian people. I enjoyed it immensely!
Hank Ryan's Prime Time is really rolling along at a brisk pace. This is the best cozy I've read - better than Sue Grafton, I think.

Shawn wrote: "Sharon wrote: "Please report back on this one! I just downloaded it as part of my, "Way too long on a plane" glut of books."Finished this one up last night. I liked it, gave it a 4 star rating ... probably 3 1/2 would be closer to exact, but I would like to read another one by this author and/or in this series, which rates a 4.
It's almost a cozy, plot revolves around a murder followed by a series of apparent accidental deaths, all summer visitors to a small New England town. I enjoyed the relaxed pacing and definitely appreciated a law enforcement officer that was sensible, intelligent and not an alcoholic, a drug abuser or trying to recover from some major life-time trauma.
I have just finished The Confession by John Grisham. It was very good but I think it has to be one of the most disturbing books that I have ever read.

"Thank you! Getting stuck on a plane after having made bad reading choices is one of my biggest fears. After the Zombie Apocalypse, but before bad sushi. Definitely top five.
Good to know this one should work.
Finished The Bomber and it was very good, a Nordic thriller. Finished The Whisperer and actually gave it 5 stars, it is gritty and dark, many twists that I did not see coming. Now readingBroken Musicwhich is a historical mystery.
Shawn wrote: "Thank you! Getting stuck on a plane after having made bad reading choices is one of my biggest fears. After the Zombie Apocalypse, but before bad sushi. I'm doing a re-read in audio of the Agatha Christie books. I've already read the first books in the Poirot and Miss Marple series (I'm switching back and forth.)I just finished listening
. I enjoyed it a lot but I have to say that after listening to
narrated by David Suchet, the narration of Links by Hugh Fraser was a bit of a comedown. I'm happy that Suchet will be narrating Poirot #3.Now I just downloaded
but I'm going to switch genres for a while so I may not get to it right away.

Is a The Passage part of trilogy? I know the second one is due out sometime this year. If I know a book is part of a trilogy then I usually wait for all three to be release and then read them back to back to back.
