I was having that problem for a long time. Reading glasses help, but they're hideous. A few of years ago, my optometrist tried Bausch & Lomb PureVision contacts on me and I've gone nuts reading ever since. I rarely need those stupid reading glasses anymore.

By that I mean that if a ward was covered or obscured, it did not work.
Why don't the demons just close their eyes?, or what if there are demons that use sonar or something like that, hell they could just check some mud/sand etc over all those protective runes, and hey presto insta humie snack!
Another problem would be the runes on weapons, once they pierce a demon, they become obscured, hence powerless.
