Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments I've decided earlier this year to read absolutely everything from this Brazilian author that is one of my very favorites ever. There are many works of Clarice translated into other languages, like English and German, that I know of. IF anyone is willing to join me in this journey ....welcome :)

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments And now i have in hands "Agua Viva" - Live Water.

For those who don't know, Clarice is an author with a very intimate, deep, emotional writing.
This book is almost a prose poem, a love letter, a declaration of existence.

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments what I've read so far:
1. THe hour of the star
2. A bela e a fera (The beauty and the beast; this one i've never seen translated into english).

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments Now just starting to read: "Th passion according to G. H."
Intend to read some of Clarice's children's books this month as well!

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments Finishe, march 30th:
3. "Água Viva"

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments Finished in April:
"THe Passion according to G. H. "
We are reading it on a book club.
THis was a very tough book. I need a break from Lispector now...
Next one: maybe her biography, written by Benjamin Moser.

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments Now - and in the past 10 days - I've been reading Clarice Lispector's biography, "Why this world", written by Benjamin Moser.
It's been a deep dive into this woman's life, thoughts, struggles, and creative process.

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments Just finished the biography this morning...
I cannot describe how profoundly beautiful was to be so close to Clarice's life for the past 12 days.
For sure, my reading of her work will be a bit different. It confirms what we already felt: that we know her deeply from her writing.
There is so much of her in her books....
My next stop will be a smooth read of her children's books...

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments So here it goes , I've read two children's books written by Clarice,
"O mistério do coelho pensante" and "Quase de verdade".
She has this imagination that does not demand much sense of coherence, of reality. It's her story, just that, and this style seems to fit very well for children - because children, when they cannot find an explanation that is satisfactory, they make up their own.
And Clarice leaves a huge space for their imagination.....

Flávia Carvalho (carvalhomeritunuedu) | 38 comments Now entered a "short story"reading frenzy:
"Onde estiveste de noite"
and
"A via crucis do corpo"
