message 2407: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (foiltheplot) 1. I guess a little over a month ago --- I had a really bad sinus infection.
2. See above. Needed to go to the doctor for some meds.
3. It's a toss up between Charleston, SC and Puerto Rico.

----

1. What is your favourite TV show?
2. What is your favourite board game?
3. Fortune aside, do you think you could handle the attention that comes with being famous?

message 2408: by Oscar (new)

Oscar | 165 comments I went to Puerto Rico, a while ago, and enjoyed it. It's like being in Latin America, but with some American comforts, lol! ;)

1. I Love Lucy.
2. Risk.
3. Knowing how introverted I am, no. I would rather just be rich and not famous.

1. Do you think that you know enough of a subject to write a textbook on it? If so what?

3. If you were chosen to do a commentary on a DVD what movie would you choose?

message 2409: by Rick (new)

Rick Gualtieri (rickgualtieri) | 46 comments 1) Two subjects (maybe :) : web usability. I've taught it at the college level and have complained enough about the texts i've been given that I really should put up or shut up. Dinosaurs too. I've been into them since I was a kid and have never stopped keeping up in the latest theories.

2) intelligent and sarcastic, an aweome combo. (and maybe hot too ;)

3) Army of Darkness. One of those movies I know by heart but can just watch over and over again.

************

1) What is the first vicarious thing you would buy if you won the lottery (>million)?
2) Think of your 2 favorite possessions. Now think of the 2 family members who live closest to you (but not with you). They're all locked in the same room and its going to explode. You can only save 2 (and there are no repercussions either way). Who/what gets saved, and who/what gets blown to pieces?
3) Jason from Friday the 13th is stalking your neighborhood. Unfortunately your dog (too small to be of use protecting you) needs to go for a walk. You can only carry one weapon with you in your free hand to defend yourself. You don't own any firearms. What do you take with you and why?

message 2410: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (foiltheplot) Wow... these are really specific and great questions, Rick!

1. I would buy myself a nice, long trip to Italy. Then I'd pay off all my student loans.
2. Aww, geez. Okay, can I just save my dad and my brother and let the possessions get blown to smithereens?
3. Man. They've used just about everything to try and kill this dude and nothing seems to work. I'm not sure I'd have much of a chance. I guess I'd take my fire extinguisher --- if I couldn't freeze the bastard temporarily, I could at least hit him with it.

----

1. If you were faced with movie monsters and forced to become one, which of these would it be --- Lycan (werewolf), vampire or zombie?
2. Are you a neat freak or super messy when it comes to organization?
3. If you had to stereotype yourself as a horror movie teenager, what would you be? (Jock, Virgin, Slut, Nerd, Etc.)

message 2411: by Angela~twistedmind~ (new)

Angela~twistedmind~ (twistedmind) | 63 comments 1. Vamp. Definitely. Lycans are just too hairy, go through unimaginable pain when they transform and most seem to be miserable. Zombies just freak me the freak out. The jerky stumbling around, being a slave to having only one need; and an insatiable one at that. And they are so hygienically (sp) challenged. Vamps, my 'version' anyway, are sexy as hell. They have amassed a fortune over the many centuries they have, um, unlived. lol. They are in control or their emotions and rarely lose that control.......occassionally when they haven't fed in a long while or when threatened by an incroatching (sp) vamp. So, yes. Vamp. All the way.
2. Both. lol. My 'public' rooms (living room, kitchen, bathroom) are all orderly and clean. The bedrooms, however? I don't even know where to begin. Let me just say the organization ends at the bedroom doors.
3. I'd be the cynical, smart ass best friend.

1.Thinking about your favorite literary character do you admire him/her because he/she is very much like you in personality, values, etc. or because he/she is the complete opposite and much like you wish you could be? Might you explain?
2. Your cruise ship has sunk but you and your loved one and fellow passenger have survived and are on a deserted island. There is a crystal clear, fresh water spring running through the jungle so thirst is not a problem. However, the only thing to eat is a multitude of fruit. There is not one other living thing on this island. Of the flotsom and jetsom of the sunken ship floats by what 3 items do you choose to keep? To make this a bit easier, all the items are in some way encased in some type of waterproof container.
3. Who would play you in the story of your life. How will the movie be rated? R or PG? Perhaps X? Or sadly G?

message 2412: by Bandit (new)

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments 1. My favorite literary character is Nan Astley from Tipping the Velvet. I have never before or since read a book where a character reminded me of myself so much and I could so understand their choices.
2. Fresh water and fruit sounds like a great diet. I'm not sure what was on this ship, so don't know what'll be floating by...but, if available, I'd grab some sort of a knife/machete thing for cutting down wood for shelter and fruit, a flare gun (in case I need to call attention to us from a passing ship) and paper/pen/writing implements of some sort to record our survival
3. With some clever editing of the earlier parts of my life, I think an R rated flick all the way. Can't think of who'd play me though, would have to discover an unknown. Or maybe I'd play myself. Mila Kunis can play my SO lol

1. You and your friend are trapped underground in a shelter surviving the apocalypse. You did the math and you're set to be out of food in 3 days. Your rescue doesn't come for 2 weeks. Do you(be realistic, this is the end of the world)...cut rations and attempt to get by? kill your friend and take his/her rations? eat the rations, then kill and eat the friend?

2. Would you give up a pinkie to spend the day with any person in the world dead or living?

3. Who would that person be?

message 2413: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller | 2552 comments 1. kill friend and eat rations.
2. no, i already spend days with my favorite people :P
3. but, if i were that obsessive about it, it would be Stephen King.

*******
1. Favorite character from a book?
2. Favorite book and why?
3. Worst read so far this year, if any?

message 2414: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (foiltheplot) 1. So many choices! I really enjoy Aloysius Pendergast from the Pendergast series by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child. He's smart, strange and incredibly skilled in so many things. Just think of how much you could learn from this man!
2. My favourite book is Dracula. Stoker used the social networking of his time (journals, newspaper articles, etc) to weave a dramatic tale of lust, terror and action. It just keeps me captivated every time.
3. I haven't had any particularly bad reads luckily, although my least favourite was probably Dead Reckoning.

---

1. If you could hang with any literary character, who would it be?
2. Why would it be this individual?

2. Who is your least favorite author?
3. Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny? Why?

message 2416: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller | 2552 comments 1. I was walking down the street in my hometown and I could hear someone calling for help and crying. I walked up to a 1950s white house, and walked down the rear basement steps and through the window, I could see a weird, bespectacled man pulling at some kids brains and laughing. I realized 2 weeks later that that house actually exists 3 blocks from my dads house. I eventually walked down that street and ran after seeing someone come out of the basement.
2. Jonathan Franzen; I just don't like the characters of his books, even though he is a great writer. eewww.
3. Mickey Mouse; not as much of a trouble maker; even though Bugs is funnier. :D

2. If you could be a superhero; what would your super-power be and what would you name yourself? :D
3. Do you have a designated space in your home for reading??

message 2417: by Nikki (last edited Mar 05, 2012 08:37AM) (new)

Nikki (foiltheplot) 1. So many choices! I think I'd step in to Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. I love me a rousing mystery.
2. I'd be Kanikki and my superpower would be telekenisis. I know the name isn't very creative, but it's a personal one.
3. I don't have a specific dedicated reading spot, I tend to go wherever I'm most comfortable (which is usually the bedroom or our study).

----

2. I would probably move back to Spain. I lived there in college and had the best time of my life. I can't remember a time when I was more relaxed and felt so free. The Spaniards really know how to make the most of life and I desperately want to be a part of that.
3. Ooooh, tough one! At the moment, I'd have to say I've become slightly obsessed with Catching Fire. Historically though, it's been Dracula.
