Has/ did anyone read this months book, Maze Runner... Any thoughts?

I am finally getting to this book and really like it so far. Am about 50 pages in, and it is very much like Hunger Games for any of you that have read those books. It really sucks you right in right away.

Jana, you HAVE to make time for this book. I love it so far. 200 pages in. I found it difficult to find a place to stop last night just to go to sleep. Something is constantly happening.

MAN, I wish somebody else in this group has read this, I want someone to talk to about it.

Arghhhhh! Cliffhanger (no punn intended) at the end of this book. Now I am soooo anxious for the next one..The Scorch Trials I can hardly wait. I would like to give this book 4.5 stars. Normally, I would not write a blurp about a book I read for at least 24 hours, to try an let the story "marinate" in my brain, to decide what I really thought. But not this time, Ugh, I just finished and felt compelled to blurp right away because I'm still hyped up about it.

Unfortunately, I hate to do this, but must compare or at least point out that there are definitely some similarities to the The Hunger Games. This story had a different storyine of course, but the premise is still very close. But I don't care, I loved the Hunger Games and its sequel Catching Fire, and can't wait for it's 3rd book. This one was everybit as good. These books elicit so many emotions, that you (the reader) feel for the main character, Thomas, as well as the other Gladers: fear, courage, survival, hate, love. It was all there.

The story was a fast, action packed ride. Constantly something happening, actually there were times I felt like it needed a lull, just so I could catch my breath. I was annoyed at times with all the questions and secrecy, but I guess that was the point, to keep the Gladers in the dark on the details and the truths, and honestly they I guess didn't really know either. That sounds cryptic maybe, but am trying not to put any spoilers in here. The only thing I never really got, was the purpose of the conncetion between Thomas and Teresa, but maybe that mental thing will mean more later in future books.

I'm glad I read this, I hadn't expected to really like it, but I did and now can't wait for the next!

Jodie | 36 comments Well I have finally started the book and like it so far. I am just in the beginning stages and it reminds me of "The Knife of Never Letting Go". It is nothing like the book but I think just the mystery of the unknown. I look forward to reading what happens.

Jodie | 36 comments Finished the book and really liked it. I am not sure I was as "hyped up" as Cory but did get into the book and at the end could not put it down. I am very interested in reading the next book and feel bad that these kids have more craziness ahead. Awesome review Cory! You should all read it, you will like it.

I'm glad you liked it. I'm funny sometimes I think. I look back periodically at my reviews of books, to try and remember where I was at with it. I think I am emotional about a book when I finish. I usually try to wait before I write anything, so it's not too full of emotion, but sometimes my brain is racing when I finish something and I just get caught up in the moment.

I still really liked the Maze Runner looking back, and I still feel the same about it as when I read it. But can definitly see they "hyped up--- ooh, I just finished, and was left hanging part." I think if I were to re write it now, a few weeks later, it'd be more tame.
