According to my last discussion with Rivca in here :http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...
I am keeping two pages of each Arabic auther , one in Arabic & the other in latin , each book with both pages , I do not like this , but it seems there is no other way !
like this example :
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
So yes , يوسف إدريس is his name in Arabic , not all his books are translated , some are only in Arabic , now what should be done , make his Arabic page from all over again or what ?
The Arabic author can simply be added as the secondary author in each relevant case. Any info that was on the author page will have to be added again though.
I see ,thanks , I guess I will start doing it slowly BTW, I did not check the manual again , will this (double pages) issue be added to it ?
Sorry for being out of topic .
Someone needs to come up with a write-up for it in the Add to the Manual folder . . . and then I need to have time to get to it. ;)
Sorry Nile daughter. I should have handled it another way. By adding the English name to the Arabic book - merging them and then deleting the duplicate.
Combine and deletes needed, I believe.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/84...

The second one was published 2008 by qanita - so I left it. There are 2 editions published by the same publisher - but with different years. And the last one is published in 1979 by Farrar, Straus & Co - so it should stay

Please combine these two copies of "La Sombra del Viento":http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...

The second one looks like a placeholder entry -- no ISBN or any other real info.

Got it.
UntitledAs far as I can tell, this book hasn't been announced anywhere, including on the author's web site. I expect that eventually it will exist, but in the meantime, should it be deleted? (If so I believe it will require a super, as 33 people have added it.)
I expect that eventually it will exist, but in the meantime, should it be deleted? No, it will be updated as information becomes available, and in the meantime it will remain on these users' shelves to remind them that they wanted to read it.
I'm working on a serial adder's shelves and don't know this is one that should go: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19...

No, that's the only edition with that year and publisher, and that's a pre-ISBN year as well.
Not sure if someone has mentioned this before, but I don't think this is a book:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31...
♥Eva♥ wrote: "Thanks over here too Cait. :) I always forget this, what year did the ISBN's start?"From Wikipedia:
The 10-digit ISBN format was developed by the International Organization for Standardization and was published in 1970 as international standard ISO 2108.[4:] (However, the 9-digit SBN code was used in the United Kingdom until 1974.) Currently, the ISO’s TC 46/SC 9 is responsible for the ISBN. The ISO on-line facility only refers back to 1978.[5:]
Since 1 January 2007, ISBNs have contained 13 digits, a format that is compatible with Bookland EAN-13s.[6:]
Occasionally, a book may appear without a printed ISBN if it is printed privately or the author does not follow the usual ISBN procedure; however, this is usually later rectified.[7:]
Eva, I have some newer books too that do not have ISBNs; at least my copies of them don't.I never delete a book only because it has no ISBN!!!
Now, if it was a book published in the last few years/decades and has no other information: no cover, no edition specific information in the book description field, etc. etc. then I'll combine and zap it.
That's what I do too. Usually I look for the lack of an ISBN when just glancing through because a lot of times that signals other problems. But unless it's something I'm sure of I never do it myself. I'm glad we have you guys to come to!
I merged it with the version that had an ISBN. Why a 60 page excerpt was published with its own ISBN as a paperback is beyond me.
This needs to be deleted by a super-librarian:Kit's Law
I fixed the spelling of the author's name to merge it with her profile, and merged the book with the other Kit's Law editions. And now that particular edition needs to be deleted. It was added with an ISBN of o140283641, which makes it a duplicate edition of 0140283641. :) (They started it with an "oh" instead of a "zero.")
Needs a super please:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/84...

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61...
I merged it, since the reviews were clearly for Mere Christianity, not for this book; however, I disagree that this item should be NAB'd. It has substantial chunks of text as well as blank pages for writing in.
