Abrams cancelled plans, too bad, but I would love to see a DT series of films, or even a kick-ass TV series.

I think his voice would ruin it for me. Butler's voice is great for period pieces, like Phantom, or 300, but I never buy him in modern roles.

Kandice | 4387 comments I think Ron Howard's version will be more emotional, and I'm all for that:)

well i think he really failed Suess with his film adaptation so it makes me apprehensive. I think the last film of his i knew i liked was Willow.

message 58: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments Personally, Howard movies I really loved after Willow were Ransom, Apollo 13, Far and Away, Backdraft, and Parenthood (and I'm not usually a comedy fan). Before Willow he did Splash, Cocoon and Night Shift, another comedy I really liked.
I think he'd do okay.

Lori (barfield) So far i've got for the Darktower

Roland -- Clive Owen / Hugh Jackman / Viggo Mortensen

Flagg -- Alan Rickman / Tommy Lee Jones

Eddie -- Joshua Jackson / Giovanni Ribisi

Susannah -- Gabrielle Union / Regina King

Witch/Rhea of the Coos -- Helena Bonham Carter

Jake -- Joseph Castanon / Ryan Malgarini

That's all I got so far. Still have to cast a young Roland, Alan, Cuthbert, Jamie, and Susan.

What about the Davinci Code... I thought that stunk!

message 61: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments I liked it. I thought he did a good job of getting the mystery across in an understandable way. Books about those grail theories are dense and tend to get boring in places because so much has to be explained. The movie got most if the "lore" across.

I didn't think it was worthy of any awards, but I thought he did a pretty good job.

message 62: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) I just watched Angels & Demons and thought it was very good. I think Ron Howard can do a good job of this. And if he's on board it tells me that they are not planning to skimp.

message 63: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Howard did those? Yep my trust he can pull it off just lost two notches.

message 64: by Gef (new)

Gef (wagthefox) I would love--love, love, love--to see The Dark Tower adapted to the big screen. However, I'm skeptical about how well Ron Howard and company can pull that off effectively. I don't want to sound too cynical, but watching Angels & Demons doesn't exactly win me over.

Haha yeah I'm not confident in Ron Howard either...hopefully he won't turn it into some family movie ****.

What about Guy Pierce as Roland? He was pretty Roland-esque in The Proposition.

message 66: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) NO, no, and no! He isn't any where close to Roland, at least not my idea of Roland.
