Movies & TV shows with an Urban Fantasy setting

I've watched Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned - Jennifer, are you referring to Brad Pitt? Cause to me he always seemed an odd choice. Looked nice, but didn't seem to fit the time period he was supposed to be from. Loved Antonio Banderas in it though! And, was it Stuart Townsend in Queen? He had charisma!
Saw at least one Blade movie but I can't remember it all that much. Wesley Snipes is so ... beefed up!
Loved Bram Stoker's Dracula, though I can't stand Winona Ryder and Keanu was simply bizarre.
But there must be urban fantasy movies that aren't about vampires, surely?! Why can't I think of any at the moment?

Almost all urban fantasy movies do seem to surround vampires, though. There was the TV series (short-lived) of the Dresden files, and while it wasn't great, it wasn't bad, either. I liked the guy playing Dresden, and Bob was done well. They screwed up Murphy and Susan, though, big time.

I haven't seen Dracula 2000, even though I love Gerard Butler. It looks pretty bad.
Bram Stoker's Dracula actually follows the book more closely than any other adaptation I have seen.
Anyway, this is just my opinion.

I did see Gerard in Phantom. I was impressed that he did his own singing. It's got really difficult pieces, musically.

Love Buffy and Angel- The new comic series that continue the storylines where the shows left off are pretty good, particularly the Angel one.

I LOVED Interview with the Vampire but I was not a fan of Queen of the Dammed; mostly likely because I do not read Anne Rice’s books. Her writing is just so monotone and dull to me, all this “He said, and then she said and then they did this.” absolutely no detail. That’s my opinion anyway. After watching Interview I tried to read the book and her writing style drove me so crazy I couldn’t get past the first chapter.
I am a Buffy and Angel fan as well, but I cannot think of any other urban fantasy based movies or TV series that I like; which is strange to me because that is my favorite subject for books. I will check out True Blood in September on HBO though.

I remember enjoying Interview with a Vampire (although i have only seen this once) but hating Queen of the Damned.
Now as for the Dresden Files, to be honest i thought they could have tried harder. I absolutely loved the books but i thought the TV series came off as a bad rip off of Angel. Harry was almost accurate, Bob was good but not as i imagined at all and Murphy was all wrong. From friends who watched the TV show but had not read the books, i think they gained more enjoyment from it than me. I felt that they could have based a whole series, or maybe half a series on each book rather than make something so episodic.

I watched Interview with a Vampire when I was younger and remember thinking it was pretty cool. Tom Cruise looked terrible as a blond. Kirsten Dunst was so adorable and innocent back then! :) I tried to read the book about a year ago and gave up at the end of the first chapter. BORING!
Queen of the Damned... they were playing it on Spike or some other channel a couple months ago. It had me giggling at the corniness of it. I only made it through about 30 minutes before changing the channel because my husband and I were getting stiches in our sides from laughing at it.
Underworld, I liked the first one a lot more than the second one. My husband likes them both quite a bit - he's got a massive crush on Kate Beckinsale. Bill Nighy is one of my favs - especially with all the quirks that he brought to Viktor.

Who was Lestat in Interview? Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt?

For Dresden fans: there's a new comic book series out there that's a prequel to the novel series: Welcome to the Jungle. Dabel Brothers is doing it, and so far I really like the first three issues that are out. The adaptation is spot on with characters' look and personality (none of Harry's sarcasm is lost, yay!). Word is that the comics will be an ongoing series, and their main goal is to fill in story gaps between the novels. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of the stories that are to come.

I'll give it a shot again probably.

Has anyone else watched the "Ultraviolet" BBC show from 1998? It has Jack Davenport (yum!) and is about vampires.
Ultraviolet on IMDB.com

Then there's Tru Calling which was like the Ghost Whisperer. It got cancelled but Eliza Dusku (the girl that played Faith on Angel) was pretty good in that role.

My husband absolutely adored Special Unit 2, and was really upset when it got cancelled. Seems like every time he really gets into a show it gets the axe.

Ezekial Stone, a former cop, killed his wife's rapist and was later killed himself. He is sent to Hell for his crime. However, 113 evil souls have escaped, and the Devil sends him back to Earth to recover them. Both Stone and the escaped souls can only be harmed or killed by each other, and they can be sent back to Hell if their eyes (the "windows to the soul") are destroyed. If Stone can recover all 113, then he'll be given a second chance at life...or so the Devil says.
I am generally opposed to sequels though, unless a sequel or trilogy was intended from the beginning. But, when they crap out a sequel because the first movie did well, and they're just trying to cash in on the popularity... I seriously despise that. They're always terrible movies. But, I digress...
I actually liked Interview With A Vampire, it followed the story fairly closely, other than a few questionable casting choices. Surprisingly, I'm not refering to Tom Cruise. He was pretty good. Queen of the Damned, on the other hand, was a disaster. Most Dracula movies have been awful.
