The Ragi So the Nebula 2009 finalists were announced last month, and as usual I started reading the free stuff available.

A good source here: http://www.sfsignal.com/archives/2010...

So far I went through the short stories, a couple of novelettes and a novella. I was wondering if anybody does the same thing, what's your thoughts on the best stuff and who might win.

Of the short stories, "Bridesicle" (Will McIntosh) was amazing, great setting and plot. "Hooves and the Hovel of Abdel Jameela," (Saladin Ahmed) and "Going Deep" (James Patrick Kelly) are also nice but lack some punch at the end. "Non-Zero Probabilities" (N. K. Jemisin) and "Spar" (Kij Johnson) just didn't work for me.

For the Novellas, Arkfall (Carolyn Ives Gilman) is very good also, although terrible to read online.

Btw, Bacigalupi (of The Windup Girl pick of the moment fame) also has a novelette on the ballot.

Richelle (richellet) | 37 comments The year I went to Worldcon, I read all the Hugo nominees. It was fun and encouraged me to read books I wouldn't have picked up otherwise. I am going to start on this list as soon as I finish what's on my plate now...
