Think about handsome Peeta and how wonderful those hands can frost a "cake". Hahahahaha!

message 152: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I have decided I don't want to burn half my body in a river of molten lava AND I love me some cake, so STILL team Peeta here. Maybe we can get him to dye his hair. Hmmm.......

message 153: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Oh, you'll be back. We'll leave the light on for you.

message 155: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Hey, I liked Catching Fire too! I think it's as good as the Hunger Games. There's more of Gale in Catching Fire. :)

message 156: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Chachic that is NOT a reason to like Catching Fire more!

Double Ugh and triple eyeroll!

I agree actually (although it is a nice bonus). Like I said, character development. Certain flat characters become a lot more round and you actually get to understand a bit more about why people are the way that they are. Gets me everytime!

message 159: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm glad Katniss told Peeta about her visit with President Snow. But I'm still shocked by what happened at District 11.

So far, I can't figure out why anyone would like Gale over Peeta. I'm only on page 90 though.

message 160: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Amen Shannen. Why would anyone like Gale (except that he is not a blond)?

message 161: by [deleted user] (new)

I've tried the Atkins diet and a vegetarian diet. I can't live without carbs. TEAM PEETA!

The Boy with the Bread and the Girl on Fire??? You know Peeta's just gonna get burned!

message 163: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Oh Brittany! You're thought has backfired -- because if you think about it, a Girl on Fire will burn ANYONE -- even bit players with an ambiguous name that are barely in the books, like, I don't know....Gale!

ROFLMAO! Oh, you are a snarky one, Heidi!

I don't think so... Gale was around before she was on fire, he can handle it.

Drat! I spelled "your" - like "you're" instead! My spelling is driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a slow burn Brittany. A slooooowwww burn.Poor Gale (ambiguous name alert!) won't know what hit him :)

Gale's name is not ambiguous. It's like Gale force winds, he is a force to be reckoned with, and winds can help the fire spread (throughout the capital) or they can help it to die down.

message 169: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I think I need to get the hip waders out girls. It is getting pretty thick out there.

Nice. What's bread got on that?

message 171: by [deleted user] (new)

Can't eat wind. ;)

message 172: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen wrote: "Can't eat wind. ;)"

Excellent retort Shannen!

message 173: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Yeah but as Brittany pointed out at least you can use it as a weapon.

message 174: by [deleted user] (new)

Jaimie wrote: "Yeah but as Brittany pointed out at least you can use it as a weapon."

Really?

message 175: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Never say never Jaimie. You don't know what someone who is skilled in the bakery arts can do with hard loaf of Italian bread.

message 176: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments no I just wanted to throw some punches since I am really kinda split between them with a lean towards Gale I have to stick up for him. He's cuter.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Excellent Jaimie! I think even Heidi would have to admit he's cuter (can I say brunette)

message 178: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen wrote: "Can't eat wind. ;)"

He is a hunter! Katniss surely didn't survive because of Gales bread!

message 179: by Linda (new)

Linda (lindajoysingleton) | 41 comments I loved HUNGER GAMES and CATCHING FIRE and can't wait for MOCKINGJAY!

While you're waiting, I found a book that will appeal to HUNGER GAMES fans -- INCARCERSON by CAtherine Fisher. It only just came out in the US in February but it's been out in England for 3 years as well as the sequel SAPPHIQUE. Get through the first few chapters and you'll be turning pages and falling for Claudia and Finn like I did. Toward the end, I couldn't stop reading and was reading while my hubby was driving because I had to know what happened. No spoilers, except to say that the ending has twists and is very satisfying.

Check out INCARCERON!

message 180: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Oh Linda, I've been looking forward to reading both Incarceron and Sapphique. I want the UK editions because I like the cover but they aren't available here so I asked my friend in Australia to get it for me. Not sure though when I'll be able to get it.

Sheila (sheilaj) I'm still in the process of reading Hunger Games but I kept trying to figure out who Katniss reminds me of. I finally figured it out. It is Max from the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. Are you guys familiar with Max?

message 182: by Linda (new)

Linda (lindajoysingleton) | 41 comments I ordered mine from www.abe.com -- got the English version of Sapprique for about $10 including shipping.

Linda - it is im tbr pile :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Linda, I'll be adding it to my tbr list as well. You've got me sold.

Heidi Peep wrote: "Shannen wrote: "Can't eat wind. ;)"

Ummm Peep - actually Peeta saved Katniss AND her family from stavation with his bread. He also sacrificed himself to save Kantiss. I don't remember (ambigious name alert) Gale offering to die for her.

message 186: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brittany wrote: "Excellent Jaimie! I think even Heidi would have to admit he's cuter (can I say brunette)"

Hair can be dyed girls. So NO I will not admit it.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Heidi, I'm fairly certain we've already covered the issue of Gale's name and it's LACK of ambiguity.
You just wait until August, in Mockingjay you'll see, a force of nature not to be disregarded.

message 188: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi wrote: "Ummm Peep - actually Peeta saved Katniss AND her family from stavation..."

Once Heidi, once! Gale taught her how to survive. How does it go? Give a man and fish.....

message 190: by Heidi (new)

Heidi We shall see Brittany. We shall see.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Yes Heidi, we shall. Then you can admit how "super mega foxy awesome hot" Gale is.

Peep - I LOVED the event invite! I'm totally there, with my meat.

P.S. - Can anyone name the reference in the quotation marks??

Heidi ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Some of you may have been invited to an event involving Gale lovers. We regret to inform you that this event has been cancelled due to a lack of interest. We are sorry for any inconvenience. There has however been quite an interest in a simular event for Peeta lovers, so we are working on this at this time. Please stayed tuned, more details to follow.

message 193: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Bwahahahahaha! Oh my goodness, my side hurts from laughing!!! That is too funny!

Still Team Gale though!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Heidi, you are too funny!!

I'm still sticking with "super mega foxy awesome hot" Gale because he's "totally awesome" (hint)

message 195: by Sheila (last edited Mar 27, 2010 01:34PM) (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Team Gale must have been too busy out providing for their families and friends to attend ;-)
