3: Evening Chats in Beijing by Perry Link
I was a member of a China studies book group many years ago and had bought a bunch of the books they had queued up for discussion. I missed a bunch of sessions AND I believe they disbanded before too long so I have a ton of unread China related books on my shelves. This one is a series of informal discussions that Perry Link had with a number of China's "intellectuals" (writers/scientists/
professors/dissidents) about their concerns for the future of their country just prior to the protests in Tiananmen Square. I was afraid it was going to be a dry academic book but it's actually quite accessibly written. I might just keep this one on my shelves after I've finished reading it!

I will have to inventory my books while I am cleaning this weekend.

This one has been sitting on my shelves for WELL over a decade. Literally had to blow the dust bunnies off of it. Got it at the Asia Society's bookstore. It's about "3 generations of a Japanese-American family whose lives are tragically affected by Second World War when they are interned in camps."
I'm a huge fan of Asian and Asian-American literature stemming from days when I worked at a nonprofit concerned with U.S.-China relations.
