I picked it up this week but also picked up since it was on the shelf early. So guess which one I read first...

I have a major exam on Monday 6/6, so I will not be reading any more books until that test is over.

I read it and it was great. Something that i really really love in these books are the awesome kick-ass ladies. Andrea & Julie are so amazing and I can't even count the many times Kate displays her bad-assery. When she (view spoiler)[bested Jennifer and solved that court case (hide spoiler)] I cheered in real life.

And I love Andrea & Kate's friendship. When they were talking about how (view spoiler)[andrea slapped Auntie B (hide spoiler)] I lolled. Though with all (view spoiler)[the threats Andrea was making to kill everybody and the things that happened to her with the order (hide spoiler)] I can tell Andrea is going to become a lot darker. I just wish (view spoiler)[she and raphael would get back together (hide spoiler)]

I just finished this one last night and really liked it too. I agree with Zuleika about her thoughts.

What I really liked about this book was Kate seemed to have a softer side. She still kicked ass, but she actually talked to the people in her life about things.

I also really loved it when (view spoiler)[Kate watched Julie take the new baby bouda and best him. Then give her advice on where she went wrong.

I really loved hearing how Curran was ready to give up everything and run with Kate if and when she needs to. It really showed Kate that he loved her for her. (hide spoiler)]

Darcy and Zuleika, I completely agree with all your points. And your spoilers pretty much highlight my favorite parts of the book. I read it almost straight through but kinda wished I made it last a little longer.

My copy of 'Magic Slays' is in pre-order purgatory. I preordered three books and the 3rd will not be released until sometime in July. I am hoping that amazon will send 'Magic Slays' out by itself. Sometimes they do that.

I liked all the parts you all mentioned as well. For a while I though (view spoiler)[ that Julie would turn into a were so that her and Derek could maybe have a chance. I didn't think she'd end up :human: again. I have a feeling this will backfire at some point. Not revealing all the details to Julie guarantees problems later.
I think I liked the trial the best, just because she shut down all disputes so effectively. Not just with Jennifer, but with the idiot guy as well.
The fight scene didn't seem as scary. It went rather quickly. Plus, it was a race to an inanimate object and it wasn't some big scary being. Or, maybe I'm just at the point where I know Kate will win since there are 2 more books left. (hide spoiler)]

sigh - I finished Magic Slays and gave it 3 stars. I just didn't like the story all that much. I did enjoy parts of the book, though. I will read the next book.

Just started Magic Burns (book 2) and it's like reading the first book in the series.

Finally we get to know what's up with the magic and technology--how and why it's doing what it does. No Atlanta isn't the only place in the world that is being affected. (Sure I figured it wasn't, but the first book was iffy.)

BAM! Kate is actually hiding from a big bad powerful bad guy, who she just so happens to want to kill. In the last book that wasn't even a side note. She just wanted to keep her mysterious powers hidden.

If they would have incorporated some of this into the first book I would have enjoyed it more. Back story is our friend.

All right the tension and world is really building up now!!!

However, I'm not feeling the Curran heat as much as everyone else. He's yummy, but that's it. Having a bit of a hard time getting past the stalker thing. Sure it's his animal nature to show he can get in to her territory, but even the other shifters don't know what he's doing!!
