If you download it as a PDF on your computer then use the free conversion service through amazon there would not be any data charges you would just need to transfer it via USB.....

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Download calibre. It is free and can convert any non drm'ed book into mobi, and it recognizes your kindle and will load it directly to it (via usb). All you do is download the mobi file and choose to open it with Calibre. Easy as pie. Also, say I had a epub book you wanted to read, you just open it with calibre and click convert. Then click Add To Reader. It is a great program to have.

Samantha | 432 comments They recently released the cover for Magic Slays:

description

It's alright, but the cover model's pose looks awkward to me. Why is she grabbing her knee like that?

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I love this cover!

To push herself up?
I'm sorry, but Curran on the cover as a lion doesn't give you the "sexy" vibe. Before I read the books it looked like she killed lions or something until I read the summaries. Still, it's not bad.

message 56: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I agree with you Samantha about the hand. It would look better if her hand was flat on her knee. I don't mind Curran as a lion on the cover, but if you haven't read the books it might not make sense.

message 57: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
It's probably because they have her tense and ready to stand. If I were kneeling like that I'd use my hand on my knee to help with balance when standing.

message 58: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I like that Curran's colouring is more like it is in the books. In previous ones he was golden coloured.

message 59: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 432 comments Ilona mentioned that it their covers were probably always going to be some variation of Kate, Curran in lion form and her sword. :(

I guess now that I think of it her hand just reminded me of Thing from The Addams Family.

Carrie- I never noticed that but you're right.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments getting this book tomorrow read some of it on amazon so im going to go pick it up check my local used bookstore first maybe and then the BN

message 61: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments So I picked up the book the other day like I said I was going to do..along with some other books I didnt go there to get. Im enjoying the world building and the fact that magic knocks off technology when ever it takes place. I feel for a fantasy world to exisist there has to be some flaw in it and I like the technology one. I also love that Kate is tough.

message 62: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I'm glad you like the Kate Daniels book, Chakara. Andrew's world was new and interesting to me. I keep wondering if magic will just take over. I hope not. I like the balance. I like Kate as a tough, independent woman. I hope she remains a bit of a loner.

me too i hate when the heroine starts out so strong and kick butt and then falls in love and becomes the damsel in destress.

ha it might be the same one I think it is. To me when all evidence points to one party its usually not them at all. But I will see hmm. Almost done!!! woot woot!

message 67: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I just finished Magic Bites and it was a great book I gave it 5 stars I enjoyed kates character and how strong she was. I also love THE BEAST LORD. I def did not think that the psycho was who it turned out to be I thought it was someone totally different I kinda dismissed the real one at the start. I will be picking up the next books in the series ASAP.

WOOOOOOO! Im supposed to be getting my Kindle on Thursday and then I can download his Pov wooooo. I'm Nuts.

message 70: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Don't read it until you have read all four books as there are POVs from each book. :)

ooh thanks for telling me that! I didnt know that and dnt want to get spoiled. I will wait. Since the kindle books in the series are the same price as the reg books I will prob get the rest of the series from BN store.

message 72: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I'm trying to decide if I want to read Curran's POV. I'm leaning toward not, but don't really know why. The Magic books are in 1st person, so the information we get from Kate isn't always accurate, just her accessment of the people around her, true or not. I have to remember the nature of 1st person and realize that Kate's early opinion of Curran isn't necessarily spot on. Though her attraction to him is very obvious. She learns more about a person, is sometimes surprised and changes her opinions. 1st person can be tricky. Mmmm, maybe I'll read the Curran story.

message 73: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I thought the Curran stories were funny. It helps getting to know Curran more.

message 78: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Good luck with that one Angela!!

It is like saying you won't add anymore books to your TBR until you get the one in it read.

lol Never gonna happen. ;)

haha, thats so true. I add new books to my TBR everyday. It never ends!

message 80: by Angela (new)

Angela B I have stopped actually adding books to my TBR on here most the time but they are all in my head still taunting me :(

message 81: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I tried once to not add any more until my pile was down to 100. Yeah, that worked for like a week.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments My problem is that I am reading too many series at once, so I realize that I'm on book 2 of this series, book 4 of this other series, and book 7 of a completely different series, etc.

I've rarely been able to read a complete series back to back. In the past it had to do with library waits or not enough money to go out and buy all the books at once, but now it's more out of anxiety to not get to "this next series" that everyone's talking about, so I drop what I'm doing and start something else.

I dont read series back to back either its because of the same reason yours is but also because if i like a character I dont want to over do it by getting over loaded with them and then they start to become annoying so I give it a chance to sink in read some more books before I jump back in to the series. Its like that I havent yet read Cify of Glass but I read City of Bones and Ashes back to back City of Ashes didnt have the same effect that Bones did on me so I took a break s that my mind would refresh from the characters if that makes sense.

message 84: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I haven't been reading series back to back either. I am almost finished the third In Death book and that is the most in a series I have read back to back in a long time. I think I will stop after this one though because I have some other series I have been putting off. Like Jane Yellowrock book 2, and now 3 is out.

Darcy wrote: "Which one is that Carrie?"

Darcy, I keep having to look at your name because you changed your profile pick and for some reason it is throwing me, lol.

It is this one:

"Kate short-circuits my brain. In my head we always have these clear coherent exchanges, but once we meet, what comes out it is, “Kate, do what I say or I’ll kill you.” Her default reply is, “Fuck you!” and we go downhill from there."

I decided that I was tired of winter already, so thought flowers would do to look at.

The Kindle is just cheaper, amazons books are always just a little cheaper than BN and I mostly want a ereader for massmarket books like the kate daniels books. My hard covers with the nice covers will still be bought for my physial shelf so I feel like paying extra for color would be a waste of money. IDK tho.

message 93: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments my store was out online and in the store for the nooks but the good thing is I can go online put my store in and check if they have restocked it if they have I might consider getting the one with out all the colors.

Oh,you have to! It is quite funny and there are only little snippets from each book. I really wished they had written Curran's POV about the hot tub scene, but sigh... they didn't. If you need a good giggle, you have to read it!

The Kindle is only $10 cheaper, and most mass market books are the same price. I find the best deals are usually at Kobo.com. They give really good coupons. You can use them for the Nook and maybe even Sony, but not for the Kindle.

This place: www.inkmesh.com is great. You just enter the book you are looking for and they will give you the prices of most retailers. Most of the time the ebook prices are the same or within 0.50 of eachother.

message 96: by Angela (new)

Angela B hmmm kobo.com can be used for nook....I will have to check it out oooh yea :)

message 97: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments Yep. The Nook uses B&N's own DRM and ADE's DRM. Kobo and Sony (along with a few other places) use ADE DRM. :) I like that I can shop around if I have to. Keep in mind the books bought there won't show up with your B&N books.
