Julie | 80 comments YAY!!! This is my first challenge and I am very excited about it!!! I think it will really help me in my reading goals for 2010: reading 144 books and jumping out of my genre/author comfort zone!

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 260 comments I started Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder on audio for the Winter Challenge, but ended up not spending enough time in the car to get very far. I'm just under 1/2 way through and I found a task where I can use it for the Spring Challenge. I'm going to put it back in the CD player starting today and hopefully make it through to the end in the next 3 months. LOL

That is exactly what I did over the winter. I Finished the Fall, and participated in the Winter, but only leisurely. I think my plan is to really try for Spring and Fall and take breaks in the Winter and Summer. I am much more interested in reading a ton now than I was after 3 months of burning through pages.

Sera I agree with the comments raised about reading books for points versus reading what one really wants to read. I've found myself slogging through some poor reads for points; however, other times, I've discovered great books or works by authors with whom I had no prior familiarity. Thus, I continue to try to strike a balance between working my TBR reads with reaching out to try some new things. In the end, I love these challenges, because it adds another element of fun to my reading, but it's tough to find a comfortable place sometimes in trying to figure out what one gets to get from the challenge. I've noticed that people have come up with different ways to work through the challenge that works for them, which is a great way to go about it in my opinion.
