I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's reaction was to the end of the book. I was weeping. Weeping hard. Crying harder than I ever have in my entire life. "He is gone" are the three worst words I have ever read. They made me weep even harder. Okay, now that I think about it, this may be depressing, but might as well try.

completely, I mean, on one end, he saved her, loved her, changed his destiny, but then, he's gone. I loved how she gave the magic back to the land, it was completely unexpected!

I never thot that would happen to kartik. I was sooo depressed I could not stop bawling. I was really glad when she gave the magic back to the land when she was all like don't you see what this to us! I think Kartik's passing made her realize that no one or thing should own the magic it should be given back to where it came from...the earth.

I cried, as i've said. But he did it to save Gemma and for good, so i guess it's okay... sort of.

He saved her, he loved her enough to save her. He spoke her name in his last breathe.

i kno.... *bursts into tears* not really but i can feeel them...

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

It wasn't a surprise to me that Kartik turned into a tree, because I accidentaly read a review on a book, and the person writing the book did not say it had spoilers! But I was a little teary reading the end. I didn't want Kartik to be turned into a tree, but I also didn't want a typical happy ever after story.

Yes, and the ending, but I am soo happy Libba let us decide for ourselves. Libba is amazing, thank goodness for her genius!

PS: Welcome to the group!

Ya I've heard it too. I bet it will be amazing! And I think Libba will be a genius in whatever genre she works in (but especially victorian fantasy!)

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Whats Mad Cow Disease? And when does it come out?

message 15: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
It's when you eat cows who have eaten other cows, cannibals.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Really? My mom said it is some disease.

message 17: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Yep, it's really awful, because cow scraps would be in their feed.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

message 21: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (kutiegirl106) | 3104 comments Mod
yeah, its an amazing book but its soo sad

message 22: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Exactly!

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't cry. It would have to be someone I really liked who died to make me cry. I didn't like Kartik a lot. I like to write plays, and if my favorite character who I wrote died I would probably cry. I like to make characters who I can't help but love, but sometimes I make them in roleplays, and when people kill them I get really sad. :-(

message 24: by Liz (new)

Liz I totally teared up when Kartik died. It was soooo sad but I am really glad Gemma gave the magic to the land and cut her season short and went to America. It was a good ending. Except for the Kartik part, that was sad, but sometimes it makes books better if a beloved character dies. It makes it so you think about it and remember it and want to read it again. Like with the Harry Potter series. It wouldn't be nearly as good if JK Rowling never killed anyone off and left it to be a super happy ending. I do wish there was a sequel about Gemma's life in America or Felicity or Ann.

You write plays? That's awesome Helena! Hi Annabeth! Your so right, thats my perception of the ending. And welcome to the group!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I've only written 1 complete one, and I'm almost done my second one. But I like do a lot of roleplays on here, and I really like the characters I make, and then someone goes and kills them. Then I tear up. I don't like it when people kill my characters. And Emma I am thinking of becoming a playwrite when I grow up, or an actress but I have a better chance of being a playwrite!

message 27: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Playwrite would be awesome! What was the plot for your complete one?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

It was about how men (sometimes) think they are better then women. It was about how this one Duke's Brother wanted to 'get rid of' him and become Duke, then banish all the women from his city because he thought they had too much power over men. Kinda like how in the roleplay you guys torture the guys and have power over them! The second one (I'm on page 63, its a long one) is about how a gang took in a girls brother, then killed him the next day. The girl said no to joining the gang, and the gang leader is after her. But did the gang really kill her brother? Duh-duh-duh! Sorry, I could blab about pays forever! :-)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 3724 comments Mod
those sound great!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

The first ones pretty short, only 63 pages, and the second one is gonna have at least pages into the 70's. The only person who read the first one is my mom. She said it as really good, but I don't know if she was just saying that.

message 31: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
That sounds fantastic! Let us read it sometime! I had this idea for a play. It was similar to your gang one. But, it's this really shy girl, and these small town boys create a gang, they kill her brother, she has weird ways of coping, and one of the gang members fall in love with her.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Well there is a problem for the gang leader in my play...he does fall in love with the girl he wants to 'punish' and if he doesn't punish her he loses his rep as the tough guy. I could post it on my writing if you wanted when I finish, although It is pretty long! I can definately post the 1st one now if you wanted though.

message 33: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
That would be great!

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

You want me to post the first one? I will, but on my writing. I don't like showing my writing to people. At least not a lot of people, no offense. I don't know why, I guess I'm just shy, which is why I have a better bet at being a playwrite then an actress!

message 35: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Haha! It's okay, I'm pretty shy about my writing too.

message 36: by Allie, A hopeless romantic who doesn't believe in love (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 3724 comments Mod
same

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I am (unfortunately) very shy when I act too. Not when I perform, but the excersises we have to do. Especially the ones that make you just be silly infront of people. I can't do that. I'm not popular in school, so I have trained myself to do nothing that can embarras me. Now if I want to be an actress I have to change that! :-(

message 38: by Allie, A hopeless romantic who doesn't believe in love (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 3724 comments Mod
I am so shy rehearsing for dance performances, but when i'm actually out there, i'm not!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't do silly unless I want to. If I don't want to, I won't. Its just not possible to get me to do something like that. Most of the times I am silly with my friends, but in front of people I don't know I am barely ever silly unless I'm making jokes, which I tend to make a lot of."

message 40: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
I hate being silly in front of people.

message 41: by Sharayah (new)

Sharayah Same. I wish I felt comfortable with it though. I hate being in front of people in general but my future is based on me singing and so I need to learn how to deal with it... haha

message 42: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Haha, ooorrr, you could pick something more practical.

message 43: by Sharayah (new)

Sharayah Haha, I have been training since I was 2 I doubt a change in the plans would be acceptable. I LOVE singing just have super bad stage freight lol. Perfect huh :) My mom says I can be whatever I want to be but I would hate to put so many years and so much money to waste. I plan to have other jobs but singing will be a big one :) If I can pull myself together that is.

message 44: by Allie, A hopeless romantic who doesn't believe in love (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 3724 comments Mod
me and my friends are ALWAYS silly, lol.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

I am silly with my friends, and when I'm acting I'm not nervous, its just I went to camp and we did a lot of acting EXCERSISES where we had to be silly, and I just really didn't like doing that. If I play a silly character I will LOVE it though! The 2 plays I wrote (I finished the second one) are comedies, so yeah.

message 46: by Sharayah (new)

Sharayah Awesome!
