Me and my friends ditched a lifeguard! It was fun! We were at the pool and he wanted to play our game but we didn't want him to, so when he threw the ball we took it and ran! Yay!

i was extremely weirded out. although, after reading what a bunch of you guys said, i like it a lot more now. but it was just so unexpected and dark. and sweet. and happy. and sad. i guess i don't really know what i think!:)

:), Don't worry, just take some time to grieve, and then you'll really be able to understand.

message 55: by Kristie (new)

Kristie (spedkristie) I enjoyed the ending. I really didn't cry because I was in pure shock. I just wished there was more information. I wanna know what actually happens.

Lisa | 55 comments Well, one day in to it, and I find myself tearing up suddenly and in the silliest places (drive-thru window, etc.). It is really sad. A couple of silly/odd things that came about while I was reading this: I had some disturbing dreams, oddly appropriate songs kept poking into my head, I did think about Lord of the Rings during the battle scene (someone else mentioned that). I also thought about (and was horrified by it) Titanic (Leonardo dies, Kate lives) even though I've never actually watched more than snips of the movie.

Libba Bray is incredible. I did have to snort when Gemma thought about meeting someone and marrying one day ("so, what happened to your last boyfriend," "oh, he died for me.")I'm hoping Gemma can find happiness and sense of purpose without a new man.

:) I'm so happy you enjoyed it! Libba is amazing, isn't she?

message 65: by Ashlynn (new)

Ashlynn | 19 comments Oh i cried for ages... i'd think i was done then the tears would just keep on pouring out of me. I was unaware i could cause myself to cry by looking at a tree...Other than loosing the very lovely Kartik I think Libba ended it brilliantly. I think they will all find their own ways in the world without having to lean on someone. They will be able to support themselves wonderfully. The end illistrated that life just isn't fair, just fairer than death. I liked that.

message 66: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 55 comments Wow, Ashlynn, good observation.

Oh gulp, crying at trees. We have to have a tree cut down because it's too close to our house. That will probably make me burst into tears now! (It's a big one too, but fortunately it doesn't whisper my name when the wind blows, just throws branches on my roof)

Ashlynn, welcome to the group! Very true...wow, I didn't think of that.

I cried too. I like never cry in books, that was something like the 3rd time ever. so that means a lot to me... the two other times it turned out the person wasn't actually dead.
Except for Night. I've read it like 20 times and still cry every. single. time.

message 69: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 55 comments Night? Tell more.

message 70: by Ashlynn (new)

Ashlynn | 19 comments Thanks for the welcomes and such! but yeah what is this Night?

Allie (pearlrose95) | 3724 comments Mod
It's a true story about the Holocaust....

message 72: by Ashlynn (new)

Ashlynn | 19 comments Any story about the holocaust is sure to make someone cry... I'll have to look that book up though. Is it really good?

Allie (pearlrose95) | 3724 comments Mod
Yes, probably my favorite book even tho it makes me cry. It's by Elie Wiesel, if that helps

message 74: by Ashlynn (new)

Ashlynn | 19 comments ok! thanks : )

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't cry, though I did tear up a bit. I seriously cried a little bit reading the end of 'The Crow' by Allison Croggon! And Sovay, in some parts. I don't cry a lot for books. But I have learnt that as I get older, the more I cry for books!

Harmones

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

I wish The Sweet Far Thing came with a warning labeled "you will need tissues!" I cried so hard, I couldn't even read anymore, my vision was completely destroyed by my profuse bawling.

message 78: by evie (new)

evie i know! i cried so hard at that part!

Oh, why is this in Fun and Games? I'm weird! LOL

message 80: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Hmm. lol, You're not weird, you just didn't get overly emotional. I cried even the second time.

message 81: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Hmm. I'm just very very emotionally attached to the characters and the writing was so good in that scene.

message 82: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay I thought it was kinda weird that he turned into a tree... Oh well. After I was done, I threw the book in the trashcan and then I picked it up and gave it a hug. Weird, I know... Kartik was my favorite character, though!!! :(

message 83: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Through it in a trashcan? Whaaa?????

Gemma is my favorite.

message 84: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay It was a little tiny trashcan that you would put in your room or something, and it's not like anything gross was in there.

message 85: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay My mom read it, and the trashcan was practically filled with tissues because she was crying so much.

message 86: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Not I. I never cry in anything. It's kind of annoying sometimes.

message 87: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 5135 comments Mod
Oh wow, your mom liked it?

message 88: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Yeah, my sister told my mom to read it and she did! We kinda had a family reading or something.
