I recommend taking a few weeks to a month off from the story, just to become refreshed. Maybe focus on reading, or starting up a new book. Then after that time period go back and start reading it from a critical point of view.
The first time for me, I usually only catch typos and weird phrasing. The second time through I try to really get rid of unnecessary things and rewording stuff to make it shorter.
Once you've done that, ask people for help. Those who you don't mind sharing your stuff with but have a good critical eye. Preferably get people who will rip your stuff to shreds. That way you have the best constructive criticism there is.
Decide what edits of theirs you want to keep and once you've finished that maybe go through it once more on your own.
At least, that's how I'll be doing things with revision and editing for Rebel :) Haha.

im editing my NaNo09 finally
im already on about the 6th chapter of my first edit
im changing all the names ((i used real people when i was writing to make it easier)) and putting it into a proper book format for my first edit
for my second edit, im going to delete loads of stuff
for my 3rd edit, im basically going to re-write and add loads of bits
basically i want to re-write it all before june so i can get my free copy :L
I don't like revising at all.. I like writing better than reading and fixing what I already wrote.. I do it anyways every couple of chapters.. But if I put it off then I have to revise a lot which I highly dislike..

Ugh. I'm editing and revising MTSF as I type it, and I'm going insane. I also have to change 'Falling Skies' to 'Oddity', wich is making me want to eat someone's face.
It's okay to start over before you finish. It's better to get it right.

*shrugs* I don't know. The world is full of morons, remember that.

hmmm... editing can be annoying ot extremely helpful. Or both. I think it just depends.

With the indents and stuff
when i write quickly, i just put everything in paragraphs rather than the whole indents like proper books
An indent looks like this.
And then it goes over here )_o
Haha! It's missing an eye!
Dang it! I was trying to show you an indent! But Goodreads Won't let me! GAr!
*grumbling about how GR doesn't allow indentation*

Indeed. Of course editing is easier than writing, the way I see it... It's just a pain, haha. Thank you, lol :P

Haha. That's okay.
I just revise randomly. I have such a weird system of writing. Usually I start out on paper. Then I restart and restart and restart. Then I take all the versions and pick my favorite parts of each and start typing. And now I'm pretty much typing only.

Sigh.
The idea of editing is scary.

Yeah, that is annoying that it doesn't.

Sigh.

I personally like editing myself. Other people's stories, that is. Not mine. Ha!

Yes, I totally agree.

Only when it's your own thing. And it makes it hard when your own thing is at a minimum of fifteen pages. XD
I like editing my own stuff. Not so much other people's stuff. I'd rather just enjoy reading it.

Yes it is. But I didn't get to say,
"THIS IS SPARTA!!!"
They have ninjas, pirates, nerds, the Dark Side, and they need Spartans.
I like how we got on the topic of Pirates/ Ninjas. I edit like a Ninja. NINJA! Pirates are better editors... Good times, good times.
(But Pirates are still better.)
