Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments I just started "Out of the Blue" Out of the Blue (Sunset, #2) by Opal Mellon by Opal Mellon. It is the 2nd book in her "Sunset Series". I decided to read it after reading the preview at the end of the 1st book "To Be with You" To Be With You (Sunset, #1) by Opal Mellon which I thought was a great reading.

I've read two of the three novellas so far, and both were good. The first one started off HOT, which was a pretty good sign of what was to come. ☺

I was just looking into that series yesterday, Leslie. Let us know how you like it."

Ack! Sorry for being so late with this Lisa. I liked the book. Mostly because of the male lead. Since this is the first book you got an overview of the Sullivans and what I saw interested me. If I manage to get my hands on the other books I wouldn't hesitate to read them.

Sonya Heaney I've had a run of really average reads, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do next!

I'm thinking of starting this one today Happily Ever After Addicted to Love/All of Me by Lori Wilde

An author I've enjoyed before, so I'm hoping I'm 'safe'...

Sonya Heaney I'm almost halfway through What the Duke Desires (The Duke's Men, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries

Wasn't meant to randomly buy another book when I have a mountain of review books, but I had a sudden desperate need to read it!

Very good so far.

I really should read that, as it’s an Australian book…
But – ARGH! – I went to read some reviews and some of my ‘friends’ have major spoilers with no spoiler tags. I’m not going to unlearn what I read!

message 1722: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Sonya~ Ugh! Hate when that happens, and one of the many reasons I tend to avoid reviews. The book actually opens with a spoiler that is alluded to a couple more times during the book. Yet, even though I knew what was going to happen, I cried when I finally reached the "spoiled" scene. Would really like to see the movie (have heard it's pretty faithful to the book), but it's not looking like that's going to happen before the end of the year.

message 1723: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney I'm almost done with the (wonderful, innovative) Sabrina Jeffries book: What the Duke Desires (The Duke's Men, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries

But am also reading this one: Most Eligible Sheriff by Cathy McDavid

It's not bad so far. Very much a Harlequin romance (which isn't a bad thing, it's just you can often pick the line they belong to without seeing the cover!), but I'm enjoying it...

It's so easy to add a 'spoiler tag' to reviews (on this site, at least!). I can't believe how many people have no problem with giving away twist endings...

Barbara Has anyone started Searching for Someday by Jennifer Probst yet? I just loaded it on my Nook and am debating if I want to start that or an indie book I picked up.

I have it on my Kindle app but haven't gotten to it yet. But I have heard some good things about it. Planning on reading it soon actually.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments I Kissed an Earl (Pennyroyal Green, #4) by Julie Anne Long . Really enjoy this series. It's like an updated regency with witty banter and steam.

I have Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2) by Lisa Kleypas and The Witness by Nora Roberts

from the library waiting on my coffee table.

message 1733: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney I'm reading this Christmas in Lucky Harbor by Jill Shalvis which is actually a collection of books.

The one I'm actually reading (rereading) is this one Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis
One of my all-time favourite contemporary romances - it won a RITA. :)

Plus you can (after *I* bought it!) get it really cheaply on Amazon at the moment!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I'm working on a "Lifetime in Books" challenge, so I'm listening to Death in Zanzibar by M.M. Kaye . I've never read anything by this author before, and while dated as far as male chauvinism goes, I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it.

message 1735: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Finished The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann and am now about halfway through Untraceable by Laura Griffin.

message 1736: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Oh, Untraceable (Tracers, #1) by Laura Griffin has been on my radar for year, Heather L. Did you get the discount at Amazon when it was on sale, or did you get the Barnes & Nobel bundle with all three books in the trilogy?

message 1737: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney Heather L wrote: "Finished The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann and am now about halfway through Untraceable by Laura Griffin."

The Brockmann series gets better and better. Over the Edge and Out of Control are my favourites.

I also love Laura Griffin's books. :)

Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments I started Mistletoe Not Required because i have never read the "Kiss" genre from Harlequin. I should have known i was asking for trouble just by the title. I am only on ch. 2 and already feel as though I am going to have to slog through this one. The problem though is that it is too fast moving for my taste. either the Harlequin "Kiss" genre might not be for me or its just this book.

message 1739: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Stories&Verse, I've never read anything under Harlequin's "Kiss" genre. So, the relationship goes at a faster pace?

Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments Lisa Kay wrote: "Stories&Verse, I've never read anything under Harlequin's "Kiss" genre. So, the relationship goes at a faster pace?"

According to the Harlequin website (http://www.harlequin.com/store.html?c...) , the 'Kiss' genre is about flirting as an artform. I thought the pace of the flirting would be a sort of longing before the couple meets, but in Mistletoe Not Required, the flirting leads to a one night stand by the 2nd chapter. I am hoping there is more to the story so I am going to slog through the rest of the book to find out.

message 1741: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney The KISS books... Hmm... It's a very strange new line. I've read quite a few of them as review books. Unlike the other Harlequin lines, there don't seem to be any 'rules' about them, which actually is a bad thing. Some books read like (very) sweet Harlequin Romance books, while I've read one with BDSM elements in it!

You never know what to expect, and that confusion has already turned a lot of readers off.

I just realised that book is set in southern Australia, so I might look into it anyway. It's not often Australians get romances set in places they live or have visited!

message 1743: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Yes, that is weird. Harlequin usually sets up their lines so you know what to expect. I remember in the Harlequin Presents group I'm in someone was complaining about the hero always being a rich million/billionaire and the heroine being the poor, almost destitute one -- and someone responded with, "Then read another line."

message 1744: by Stories (last edited Dec 23, 2013 08:36PM) (new)

Stories & Verse (storiesverse) | 256 comments Reading further into Chapter 3 of Mistletoe Not Required (Harlequin Kiss genre), I see the characters are as concerned as I am about the results of the flirting, and are discussing the appropriateness of the one night stand. Now I see where the romance is going... I guess this book is about how a relationship advances after a one night stand...

message 1745: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney I'm reading Much Ado About Jack (Shakespeare in Love, #3) by Christy English but the more I look at the cover, the weirder I'm finding it. The guy on it looks likes he's stepped off a fashion runway - couldn't look less like a Regency gentleman if he tried!

Really? Did they honestly not know how the lines worked? I've read some Presents books with unusual heroes (for that line) - a doctor, a professional athlete. But they were all still millionaires/billionaires.
