It was a very well-done movie. I didn't know his tomb is in the Abbey. It was like a cattle call the day we visited; they moved us through way too quickly.

I'm now reading The Knitting Diaries: The Twenty-First Wish\Coming Unraveled\Home to Summer Island by Debbie Macomber and Asylum Lake by R.A. Evans.

We visited in early November, and it was really quiet at that time of year.
I've just started The White Woman on the Green Bicycle.

I've just started The White Woman on the Green Bicycle.
I'm reading The Heart Specialist The Heart Specialist It's a fantastic historical novel/mystery and love story based on a true story. It's been on Canada's Bestseller list. Has anyone else read it?
I am reading The Wizard Children of Finn and Helen Keller: A Life (along with other books, but these two are both excellent).
Too many serious books lately so now I need a break. I'm going to try
. How can you not like a book written by Nowen N. Particular.
I'm nearly finished Master and Commander on audiobook, and can understand how people get quite addicted to the series. I shan't dive into the next one straight away, but will certainly be back for more. Next up on audiobook will be
, which I hope I'll enjoy. In paper form I've just started
. It seems a very long time since I read any Sharon Kay Penman, and it's good to be reminded how well she writes.
Just finished re-reading Jane Austen's Emma by listening to the audiobook narrated by Nadia May. It was just gorgeous! I will start listening to an audiobook of Dorothy L Sayers' The Documents in the Case tomorrow. I'm also still reading Jo Walton's Farthing, which is amazing.
Chrissie wrote: "I have had no internet connection for over two weeks. I have been doing two things: reading and walking on the beach. Nice huh?! I also have noticed that Kindle books tend to be very short. I do no..."excellent recommendations Chrissie, thanks!!
I'm reading Asylum Lake by R.A. Evans and will be starting Mercy by Julie Garwood today or tomorrow!
Finished Flowers in the Attic wow what a very emotional book. After reading that I need something I THINK is going to be light and fluffy so I started The Kitchen Daughter on my nook. I'm also going to start reading Princess in Waiting today too.
I'm reading
. This is my first Agatha Christie. Don't know why I've waited so long, since it reads fast and funny. Years ago, I interviewed Daniel Handler aka
, who I happened to attend high school with, for an article, and he mentioned that he read Agatha Christie a lot as a kid, which intrigued me. Still, it's taken me a long time to get to it. Glad I finally did.
Ok, turns out my new audiobook is actually Relics of the Dead, the 3rd in the "mistress of the art of death" series. I've had a bit of a miscalculation with my audiobook requests at the library, and having just started this one there are 2 others speeding towards my branch for me...
Susan wrote: "I'm reading In the Garden of Beasts. Very interesting."I have that one on my short list, Susan. Looking forward to getting to it.

. Kimberly, I love all things mermaid. I try to read at least one book a year with "mermaid" in the title or as a part of the book. I even have a shelf for these books. LOL! How are you liking this one so far?
Can anyone tell me why the reply I posted on Kimberly's post came out in italics? I tried to post it again, and the same thing kept happening.
Kathy,I'm not sure. Unless you posted within her quote which would end with (not visible in the message) ???

That's probably what happened. Silly me! Thanks, Lisa.

Kathy wrote: "Lisa wrote: "hat's probably what happened. Silly me! Thanks, Lisa."Well, I figured that out because I think I've done the same thing.

That's a great one!
That's a great one!
My posts are appearing and then disappearing so we'll see if this one stays. I am in the middle of Between Shades of Gray
. It's so good, I need to get offline and get back to it.

Okay, as of today I am reading Asylum Lake by R.A. Evans, Mercy by Julie Garwood, Dead Is Not An Option by Marlene Perez and Roomby Emma Donoghue! Happy Reading everyone!!! :)
Christine, I'm having a hard time with it. It is taking me so long to get into it! I'm hoping to finish it up this week though!!

I just finished it, Kathy, and it was amazing!
Christine wrote: "Let me know what you think of Room. I read it a while ago, but it stuck with me."I read this for my book club in January - it was definately as hard a read as Flowers in the Attic

That's why I have not dared to read it.
Kathy wrote: "Last night I started the new Ann Patchett book, State of Wonder
"Kathy, how is it so far? I love her work, and am looking forward to this new book.
Christine, Between Shades of Gray - fabulous! That is what I thought too. Moving and so many different themes are perfectly explored. Kathy, you must read BSOG! If you are still unconvinced look at my review. It is spoiler free. I have been considering State of Wonder. Patchett is a good writer, and I have given both Truth & Beauty: A Friendship and Bel Canto four stars. But how does this one compare?
Have I said that I switched from The Old Capital to Moloka'i, which just came out in for Kindle in Europe! YAY!
Chrissie wrote: "Christine, Between Shades of Gray - fabulous! That is what I thought too. Moving and so many different themes are perfectly explored. Kathy, you must read BSOG! If you are still ..."
I'm going to suggest Moloka'i for my live book club read since everybody is talking about how great it is. It seems like a book-club - worthy story. I was telling my friend about it and she was excited about the plot.
Lauren wrote: "I'm going to suggest Moloka'i for my live book club read since everybody is talking about how great it is. It seems like a book-club - worthy story. I read it for my real world book club; I'd wanted to read it for ages though, but I waited until it was a book club read. I am so glad I read it, either way.
Olivia wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Last night I started the new Ann Patchett book, State of Wonder

I just finished it last night, Olivia, and it was great! Having loved Bel Canto wouldn't measure up. I was so happy that it did. I've also read Run by Patchett and have The Magician's Assistant waiting on the shelf, but Bel Canto and State of Wonder are definitely in my "favorites" list.

Chrissie, I read your great review. Thanks for pushing this one. It's now on my TBR list and Amazon wishlist. I expect that I will be buying it very soon. So glad you're reading Moloka'i. It is such a special book. I just finished Brennert's second book, Honolulu and loved it as well.
Lauren wrote: "Chrissie wrote: "Christine, Between Shades of Gray - fabulous! That is what I thought too. Moving and so many different themes are perfectly explored. Kathy, you must read BSOG! ..."
Lauren, I think Moloka'i would be a great book club read.
Lauren, I haven't finished Moloka'i but it is clearly a perfect book club choice. Kathy, wow! State of Wonder is as good as Bel Canto? Then it IS good. Truth and Beauty is also great!
Anne, I recommend Between Shades of Gray!
Molokai isn't a short book. I am so sick of these short books on Kindle. It is clearly a coming of age story, at least at the moment. Your heart bleeds for Rachel.
I can't read today because my brain is still wrapped around Between Shades of Gray. My daughter wants to read it after she finishes
.
.
I think later today I'll start Howl's Moving Castle for a Goodreads book club and then for my July real world book club next after that I'll read City of Thieves. I got them both from the library today.
I finished The Kitchen Daughter it gets maybe 3 stars. I really didn't like the character Amanda at all. Not sure what I'm going to read next - I think I'm going to start Red Riding Hood and The Wolves of Andover
I would be curious Lisa about what you think about Howl's Moving CastleI've never read it but the movie was really good.
